I have found so many things happen, positive things when I role with the punches, go with the flow, here as an expat living in Italy. My life in the United States was so structured, there was almost no opportunity to just roll with things as they came! I am totally challenged in allowing this to happen. Thoughts?
I think that, in general, Americans plan everything, and we are always in a rush. From what I'm learning, that is what is so different and refreshing about Sicily. The culture is so laid back that people are not in a rush and seek to enjoy every moment of life.
Kirsten I so enjoy all that you are discovering about the Italian culture. I too felt emotional about the rememberance day of your ancestors who died in the First World War. I recently watched a documentary of the front in the mountains of northern Italy which was an eye opener for me. On a less sad note, I am amazed at how many festas are held in Italy. It brings together culture and community. It was so lovely to see the children singing the national anthem. Another emotional moment. Another thing….. am I imagining what I see of generally happy people?
It does seem like every other week there is a festival. It seems like, no matter what is happening in the world, and regardless of the challenges they are facing, thye find a reason to celebrate. As a general rule, the Italians, at least the ones I am interacting with, are generally happier. But like all areas, this does not apply to everyone.
What a fun time and the fact that it was all just spontaneous! I would've enjoyed all the different pizzas! Thanks Kristen for sending over the good vibes!
Che bello! Italy, is full of festivals and that is what I love about this country. I can't wait to move there soon. God bless your adventure and keep the videos coming. Oh yes, the baba and my mother loved the sfogliatella.❤️🇮🇹
Hello! I’m loving your videos of you living in Caccamo! My family is also from Caccamo and I will be visiting this spring. I wonder if you can give me Felipe’s information to look up my family to see if I have any living relatives. I appreciate all the help you can give. Thank you! 😊
I will do my best. Of course videos don't tell the full story. There are challenges. But I am loving my journey and appreciating everything and that I learn
@@anywherewithkristen Love that for you 💓 btw, I found someone in Palermo to help find my families documents☺️ I’m sooooo excited! He’s a young guy who feel into this line of work organically…I’ll keep you posted 💕
Bellissima! I've just returned from my Nonno's village in Campagna and saw the WWI and II memorials with the names of my relatives who were killed. Makes it very real. These little towns suffered a lot.
Rum baba for all! Incredible food. Your Italian seems natural to be able to switch back and forth from English. Has that happened since being there? Nice folks to hang out with too.
My Italian still limited though I am continuing to learn. I did run into a point in a future video where I could not remember the English word for something, so there's that.👍🏼
Lol. I do feel uncannily at home here. It is not out of the question. Scott will be visiting soon and we will at the very least look at some properties.

They did indeed. The war was a very real thing for them and hit much closer to home.
