Problem with mixing colour shrimp you will have to cull loads as will throw out brown shrimp which are only good as feeders or to throw into a tank for algae but if you get a new colour shrimp and get a few of them separate them and breed them you will get a new type of shrimp

No judgement on the shrimp tank splurge, I got some ghost shrimp to accompany a betta tank I started for my son during Covid & ended up really getting into shrimp myself. Spent more than I’d like to admit on all kinds of colorful lil babes. Much cooler than the betta imo 😅 can’t wait to see you find some wild ones if you can.

Apparently, 70 yrs. ago my parents found me giggling in my room, playing in my little toy kitchen, frying up that little fish...just like my parents did after a successful fishing trip! Mom & Dad buried her "at sea" & I never had another fish. Watching Bobby passionately collecting & rescuing fish brought back that old memory & memories of my brother & I always trying to catch fish & polliwogs! When different colour crawfish reproduce, the babies are born with the original wild colour. That’s why all the babies are brown. The same will happen with your shrimp.
