The crescendo (messa di voce) at 03:27 is very cultivated (albeit not in the score). Many a singer tend to shout out this climax right from the beginning, easily destroying it. René Pape masters his instrument really very well, as always, and very wisely, in a very balanced way. Hard to imagine him in a buffo role on stage. Well, here he seems to enjoy it for this showcase-aria. A very, very reliable singer.
nice. ok, he screws up and sings 1:26 "d'ogni forma" twice instead of "d'ogni grado, d'ogni forma" but hey we are all entitled to these screw-ups. the lyrics go by fast, and he is singing for memory - the best way. go dude.

Outstanding voice and interpretation.
It's very hard for me to imagine Papé enacting Leporello on stage, in costume. His voice, though, is as glorious as ever. Bravo, Maestro 👏
