Blows my mind when a 6 minute free youtube video helps you remember the standards better than a college course that charges thousands of dollars does. Thank you Maria, this will help me pass the Network+ exam.
THANK YOU!!!! I watched this a week ago before starting my Network+ course videos and felt like my brain got scrambled. :/ Came back to it today and was able to follow along, and with some quick notes was easily able to figure out your examples! This helped so much!! :-) It is peeps like you that make learning this stuff actually fun.
I have been STRUGGLING to find a straight forward description of the distances. You NAILED IT though. Thank you so much! 2 = 200m 5 = 500m T = 100m E = 40km F = 2000m S = 300m
Thank you for the lesson. I am constantly looking for this kind of info but often it’s delivered in such a dry way that it is hard to digest and remember. I loved the energy and simplicity. Hopefully it will stay in this time ha ha.
I'm studying for the CompTIA Net+ exam and the curriculum I'm using doesn't properly explain ethernet standards in an easy to understand way. This video was super helpful thank you!!
No wonder she's got almost every cert in Comptia....Very Very well explained... Simple, graphic, and very very engaging. I wish she was one of the tutor in CBT nuggets or udemy ♥️ I think if i had an accident tomorrow the only thing I'll remember is this lecture 😁 Thanks a lot ♥️
I am taking networking+ in college right now and struggled with this. This is VERY helpful. Thank you very much! Now to try to memorize TCP/IP basics and Subnetting. LOL!
Great video! I'm working on A+ right now with likely quite a few more certs after that. I'll be sure to check your channel for other helpful videos to help with exam prep!
Nice work, make the thing very simple, please keep uploading more videos related terms, can you make videos about osi/TCP ip model and subletting terms in easiest and realistic ways. Thanks
This video explains very well. Thank you. I am however still not clear at 6:00 10BaseT. This would match a Cat6A, and you also mentioned "this is actually over Cat6 but that C twisted pair mnemonic works just fine", and you put down Cat 5. What does that mean?
I honestly don't remember what I said. LOL. But 10BaseT is older, and generally only comes in CAT5. In real life I have never seen that slow speed over CAT6.
I don't know if you're still active on here, but I noticed that 1base5 (I know it's not in the exam you made this video for, but it's in the one I am studying for so I was curious) only goes to 250m, what's up with that?
I've always thought of X as extended, but I'm not sure if that's what it really means, or if it helps with mnemonics. I still someday need to update the video with the new standards too. Someday.
I left them out on purpose because they aren't on the Network+ test (yet). So it's a testing strategy - let's only care about what's needed for the test now. As you work in the field you may be exposed to them and have to learn them, but these are the most common.

I sat down to find the patterns to memorize these and figured someone else must have done this already. Thank you for sharing.
This helped me understand these standards better than the 3 college courses that have touched on this. Thank you!
@@SomeDudeOnTH-cam16 my pleasure!
You have no idea how much this helps, these are the type of questions that I keep failing the exam at, thank you SO much!!!!!😆
Still going strong in 2024!! Thanks Maria.

Great stuff that thank u so much :)
Thank you Maria! this was very helpful! Do you teach any online classes?
You are welcome. I do through San Juan College in Farmington, NM
Except for the cables implemented in coax ie. 10base5 and 10base2.are there other baseband cables?
Yes, but for BJ exercise we only care about the ones on the exam.
It did help. Thank you :)
May I ask what Certification is that, what is the name and how can I get them? Thanks
CompTIA. Check out their website www.comptia.org/home

well done Mi'Lady...thank you
So I see X and W in a lot of the standards. What does the X and W mean? Do it depends on the other letters with the X and W?
Thank you miss.
My pleasure!
Thank you so much!
Thank You Maria....!
Certainly very helpful
Great video. Thank you!
You are welcome!
what does the X mean?
for example 1000baseLX or 1000basesx
I've always thought of X as extended, but I'm not sure if that's what it really means, or if it helps with mnemonics. I still someday need to update the video with the new standards too. Someday.
saved my time
Love you 💕💕
thank youuuuuuuuuuuu
the t, tx, c , cx , T , 2 5 was really confusing me.
not anymore lol
Yay! You are welcome!
Very well explained
Thanks!
Mind blown!
what about the letters L and X

then there is 2.5GBASE-T (CAT5e) and 5GBASE-T (CAT6). CAT6a cable has meanwhile become cheaper.
Thank you!
1000baseSX :( I’m not sure this follows
You are right. For the test this was designed against we didn't have to know much about fiber. I need to update it.
It does mam...love u and thank u
Nice video mam

Спасибо большое, бало очень удобно и понятно
