„How to build your own Photo Video Studio on a large budget in a big space if you are a carpenter.“ I need to know how to do this in my kitchen for 25$.
As a designer, photographer, and future architect - this is why I went with Syrp for My motion control needs. Precision is necessary for both, Timelapse photography and architectural design. This is totally evident here. I’m such a huge fan of this brand, and happy to be the owner of Syrp’s latest Genie II Linear and Genie Mini II. Thank you for inspiring me to push my creative boundaries in BOTH, photography and architectural design. Can’t wait to keep up with everything you all are creating - products and content!
What a brilliant video! As I'm turning my garage into a studio, I downloaded the plans you provided. Will definitely give it a go. Thanks a lot from the other side of the globe!
Wow watched the video till the end thinking you guys have like 500k subscribes but then I was surprised to see you only have 37k! Definitely deserve more tho, so I subscribed! Keep up the great Content! 👍🏼
This is really cool guys. Thanks for making content like this. High quality, entertaining, and very useful. Definitely referencing this guide in the near future (fingers crossed).
I’m looking at building a couple of these. 3 wall each. One white and one green. This video is amazing and just what I needed. I clearly have my work cut out. I feel like you guys did half the work for me. Great video
Hats off, I know first hand the amount work that goes into this kind of thing so well done and good luck with the studio guys. We built something similar a long time back for a studio and used fibreglass over a exercise ball for the connecting bottom corner, worked a treat with a bit of car body filler and a orbital sander. Used the same radius for the cove. 👍👌👏
Hey Morten! Since building the studio, we've done a sound treatment by making some large acoustic panels that remove almost any echo - we may have to do a video on this too!
So awesome! Always inspirational to see builds like this because I've wanted one ever since we got serious about photography. Definitely going in the next house 👊 Too bad about sacrificing the skateboarding aspect of it. Even though I didn't stick with it long enough as a kid to be good at it, I would definitely try again if/when we have a cyc 🤙
Thanks guys, class stuff. Is it difficult to keep the painted floor clean during model shoots and, if so, how do you clean it after? I shoot on paper or sometimes Perspex, both of which get dirty easily. I’m hoping this approach is easier to keep clean?
Sorry we didn't get back to you David! We usually do a repaint before big shoots as unfortunately the surface always gets a bit scuffed up and dirty - this is pretty common for commercial studios.
Hey RCD! Check out the part from 5:15 onward. The two layers of thin MDF allowed us to get as close to the concrete as possible and the final small gap was filled when we did the plastering.
@@SyrpLab Thanks. So you used drywall compound between the MDF and the concrete floor? I was considering building the walls on 3/4" plywood and nailing the curves to that.
What did you use for your floor and how did you ensure a smooth transition from the curve to the ground? Did you paint the cement or did you use some other flooring material?
Hey Brad! With the two sheets of MDF, there was a pretty small gap between the cement floor and curve. We filled this with Bog/Builders fill (the name varies from country to country) and sanded it smooth. As we had a pretty perfect cement floor with no rough areas, joins or visible cracks, we painted this directly.
Hey Tarik! We tend to repaint our Cyc every 4-6 months but most pro studios will do this fam more regularly as stands, shoes and gear will scuff up the floor surface pretty quickly
Yes - the shape and hard surfaces definitely caused some initial issues but we've done a sound treatment by making some large acoustic panels from sound insulation. When placed correctly, these remove almost all echo
The echo is a huge problem with cycs! We ended up making ten 1.2 x 2.4m acoustic absorbers which removed the echo completely. You can see some attached to the roof at 6:12.
Hey Karl! The finished studio from wall to wall is 5.5m x 10m (18ft x 32.8ft) but obviously you lose about 0.5m around the perimeter due to the curve. Glad you enjoyed the video
Whao, l love this. I'm always moved with creative mind like you. I'm also good in creative work, but lack of tools / gear's. Can I join your team for more training and also work with you? Thanks for consider me.

@@jensschmidt You just need to substitute the wood with cardboard and cardboard derivatives.
Long title man ;)

Glad you enjoyed it!
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for showing this build 🙌🏼
So pumped that this popped into my feed while I’m building a whole new shop. Looks like it’s about to get a cyc
Let us know how it goes Lee!
Thanks for this video i was planning to build a studio but not getting ideas this helps me alot.

You're welcome! Let us know how it goes!
Lovely work guys and good idea to sack off the skate boarding, much better with the extra space!
More of these please! super inspirational for my own space.
Great video. I am building my cyc wall straight from your plans. How tall is your wall? I’m thinking about making mines 16’ tall.
I'm really liking the 3d animation !!! Top notch production
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
@Mr snimarr Hey Mr Snimarr - we use Blender for our previs and animations
I own such a studio in my city and I'm very proud about it.

Always! Bunnings is the GOAT
Freakin incredible, awesome studio! Thank you for sharing your process and the hard work that went into bringing it to life. This was very inspiring.
awesome studio!!
Thanks iko!
This is awesome! I started my build today. Thanks for the plans!!!!!! CHEERS!
Very cool!! Excellent.

Amazing construcutre ✅ great work and video
including a free download?! AWESOME!!!
dope AF. Thanks for sharing the plans Gents!
Any time! Looking forward to seeing your studio!
Awesome project guys!
Turned out really good! Getting the curves right seems like a lot of work. Did you do anything for sound quality, or is this only for product shots?
Hey Morten! Since building the studio, we've done a sound treatment by making some large acoustic panels that remove almost any echo - we may have to do a video on this too!
Ridiculously cool to stumble across an awesome channel and then discover it's run by some fellow kiwi's!!! Great stuff:)
Thanks so much for this!
You're welcome Emeline!
Fascinating! I don’t know when I’ll be building a cyc but I’ll surely download the guide just in case 😂
Woah what a project, good job guys, tricky one to pull off👍
Thanks so much Scott! That's high praise coming from you

I watch this everytime I need motivation. Such a great studio-building video!
Okay
Great work and well documented guys!! 👏
Love a Bunnings run. Can I ask what did you use to create your animation?
heyo! All the 3D animations were done in Blender
very cool! saw a jib attachment for the tripod at one point what was that???
Where did you get the plans for your cyclorama. How did you determine the size and measurements for the curved edges ? Looks great
Thanks guys, class stuff. Is it difficult to keep the painted floor clean during model shoots and, if so, how do you clean it after? I shoot on paper or sometimes Perspex, both of which get dirty easily. I’m hoping this approach is easier to keep clean?

Mannn soooo cool. I love your filming style, gents! Something to aspire to. 👍🏼👍🏼
Well done.
Tough job.
AMAZING. Going to use this next month for our studio. Thank you! 🖤
Great! Of course, be sure to do your own measurements and treat the plans as a guide :) every studio space is unique
Very nice cyc wall.
How incredible!!
Thanks Jman!
AYEEE THAT"S CHASE V/S EVERYTHING!
Ayeeeee it is :)
Looks so good! How high are the ceilings in that room?
Glad you think so Jacob! They're roughly 4m high in the basement space
@@SyrpLab Thank you!
Super great guys! Cheers from Venezuela 🤓👍🏻
Great work guys.
Thanks Davey!
What wonderful work ! Would it be possible to purchase your plan?
Very nice. How did you transition from the bottom of the cyc to the concrete floor to make it seamless?
@@rcdmedia Sounds like a good plan - it's easier to do if you dont have a concrete floor but our basement had one we couldn't damage
Thanks great project. Do you have any idea on the radius of vertical corner? Thanks
Hey Henry! We used a Radius of 410mm - download the plans from the link in the description for full measurements
What did you use for your floor and how did you ensure a smooth transition from the curve to the ground? Did you paint the cement or did you use some other flooring material?
Hey Brad! With the two sheets of MDF, there was a pretty small gap between the cement floor and curve. As we had a pretty perfect cement floor with no rough areas, joins or visible cracks, we painted this directly.
Good work men!
With regard to maintenance, do you find you have to repaint the floor every time it’s used?
thanks man!!
So beautiful!
Wow just wow
Nice work! What is the design software you use?
Hey! We designed the studio parts using Solidworks & did the previsualizations in Blender
Great tutorial. Can you tell us how easy is to maintain white color? Do you just repaint with super white matt color?
Hey Tarik! We tend to repaint our Cyc every 4-6 months but most pro studios will do this fam more regularly as stands, shoes and gear will scuff up the floor surface pretty quickly
@@SyrpLab Thank you, I will probably build one just like yours. It is amazing.
INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!
Well done boys
Thanks Joshua!
Great video!
Thanks Kenneth!
That’s awesome!
Great video.
Really want this kind of setup.
Amazing
Cheers JBL!
Gonna try this! Just wondering if you found all the wood to be quite echo-y, and if you've found a solution?
Yes - the shape and hard surfaces definitely caused some initial issues but we've done a sound treatment by making some large acoustic panels from sound insulation. When placed correctly, these remove almost all echo
The echo is a huge problem with cycs! We ended up making ten 1.2 x 2.4m acoustic absorbers which removed the echo completely. You can see some attached to the roof at 6:12.
@@SyrpLab great! thanks for the feedback

Great project.
A little more ambitious that I'm looking for but I enjoyed the build. (:
Very cool. Well done!
Thanks Cinamaker!
amazing job!
Very good
underrated channel..great vid
Cheers!
Great video, my floor is concrete., did you guy just paint the floor or use some type of wood for the floor as well?
Cheers! For our studio we painted the concrete as this is the most stable and wont flex or warp
@@SyrpLab thank you so much, so is best if i just clean the concrete a 100% and painted.. thank you again (:
That’s pretty badass! How long does it take? What drill is that you use?
Thanks for sharing this! Really cool to see the process. I'd be interested to know the square footage of the space you used?
Hey Karl! The finished studio from wall to wall is 5.5m x 10m (18ft x 32.8ft) but obviously you lose about 0.5m around the perimeter due to the curve. Glad you enjoyed the video
