Steel guitar is the most beautiful sounding instrument man has ever made. It captures emotion so beautifully. You are just showing us basic notes and even those convey emotions. One day i will start taking lessons and play.

I have no interest in playing it but I was curious how it worked. Made me think of the famous Waylon Jennings steel player Ralph Mooney. REST IN PEACE MOON!

    Thanks for the great lesson.
In the very beginning of your video there was an accoustic guitar with pedal steel. Is it possible for you to make a lesson on how to play that style of pedal steel to a basic guitar chord progresdion like you had in the beginning of your video. No one makes video lessons of that style, yet it is very beautiful.
    Thank you!!!

Probably not much different than guitar. Find the “key” the song is in. Use a looper and record it and play it back in a loop.
When guitar comes back to the key chord of the rhythm, you play notes that are within that scale. just make sure you find resolve back to that key chord every so often. If you do it every other phrase it kinda builds suspense or like a question but then goes back home to the key note to find finality of each phrase. So, if you were playing an easy rhythm section in the guitar like :
      G, G,D, C, G .. G, D , C,
      G,…G
Note how the chord progression revolves around the G. . : so, pluck a G, or compare to other other notes all the way up the neck till you find that one that sounds just feels right. if it sounds right compared to the other notes It’s likely in the Key of G. So G is. Your home base. 😮each phrase or every couple phrases, swing back to your core Note. G. Kinda like a dance, 😮you can dance around but that “Feel” is when you bring it back home to that G.
At least that’s my way of interpreting the sound.
I’m no steel player but can hear what’s going on. Hope this helps and doesn’t discourage anyone. It’s the key to lead guitar.

My grandfather died when I was 6 years old (I'm 39 now). I was suppose to have gotten his steel guitar and I didn't. It went to one of his kids, and now they won't let me have it.

You might want to re-shoot this video. Your voice got kind of hard to hear in spots. Info was OK, but I really think I'd need to know how to translate notes on a sheet to what strings and frets to play.

What pedal steel are you using? It looks and sounds great. I am wanting to purchase my first pedal steel but unsure which one to get.
