Arrma Mojave repairs

- In this video we dig into the Mojave EXB to see what damage we incurred on our last outing to test the body post upgrade. This damage was intentional to push the posts past their breaking point. AJ tears into the truck and shows you how easy it can be to fix the damage on these hardcore bashers. Being a really tough RC in the first place, the damage winds up being substantial and yet, minor at the same time. Come along as AJ walks you through the repair process and shows you how easy these repairs can be.

Wow, thanks!

Thanks for the great work and help. Your my #1 channel when considering new vehicles.
Awesome, thank you! That means so much to us here. 😎👍
@@AJJAMStudios I would love your insight on my next vehicle. I have 2 Maxx right now and love the authenticity of some of the buggy/desert racers. After viewing your reviews on the lasernut and DBXL 2.0 I’m still torn. I’m ok with the cost of the DBXL and have the space. Which one would you say is more durable? Thank you. And feel free to make another suggestion
To be absolutely honest, both cars are cool in their own way. The Lasernut is smaller by far than the DBXL-e 2.0, but with some slight modifications, it is still pretty cool. It is fast, controls good and looks pretty rad bouncing through rough terrain, however, nothing beats the raw power and handling, not to mention the size, of the DBXL-e. That thing is a monster. It's big, low, and fast, and that's straight out of the box. It does require a couple of upgrades toward the durability end though. Mostly it is the plastic chassis braces and top plate that suffer, but that's easy enough to correct. In my case, I'm still running the stock motor and speed control, and it still has the original gearing, and this thing makes me smile every time I pull the trigger. The Lasernut is okay in the durability department, but falls short of the durability of the DBXL-e; having blown a center diff in the Lasernut on day one. My videos on both will help you further on that subject. My take on the question is simply this...if you have the money and a place to bash it properly, it's the DBXL-E 2.0 all day long. I have to say, there's just nothing like it out there, of course, that's just my opinion. I suppose the Kraton 8s comes closest, but that's a whole other can of worms. Let me know if this helps. Thanks for asking. AJ
@@AJJAMStudios thank you AJ your awesome!!!! I wish I could buy you a beverage and pick your brain and all that knowledge.
If you have questions feel free to ask them, that's why we're here. We'll help if we can. Thanks for taking an interest in our channel. AJ
I did complete rebuild just this weekend! Took me whole weekend really but it was TON of fun. Tore it apart to the last screw, all parts cleaned up, all bearings rebuilt and greased, all diffs rebuilt, all shocks too. Now she can sleep weel till the spring : )
Deep cleaning can be loads of fun. Personally I enjoy that too. It’s great to hear that you care so much for your equipment. Most people don’t. 😎👍
@@AJJAMStudios Yes it feels awesome when its all nice and clean. I also have a 3yo son and he is helping, so he learns a thing or two in the process. Cant really ask for more as a RC dad :_ )
AJ, one of my top favorite cars! Love it! Great bashing and awesome rebuild!!!👍👍💯
I agree, this is an awesome RC. It's tough as hell and fast to boot. I still can not believe how much damage it can take without breaking. Thanks for then comment and support. AJ
AJ great video as always and appreciate what you do for the hobby. I always look forward when I get the notification that a new video is up.
We appreciate that greatly around here. Helping out is the real reason we do this. Thanks for commenting. 😎👍
I can’t believe your body is still in such good shape. My body was destroyed in a couple of weeks even though I glue and drywall taped it. It’s in good shape except for the front fender wells. They have nearly split to the point that the grill may be a separate piece from the rest of the body. And the body is $$$.
If you actually get a close look at our body you'll notice it is anything but perfect. It looks great on camera, but there are damage marks, tears, and the usual distortion most cars suffer; it just looks good on camera...as long as we don't get too close while shooting the video. We do not hide the damage, honest is honest. Thanks for the comment 😎👍
Great video and great channel overall. I'm trying to get back into RC and on the fence on model to get (Mojave vs UDR). I understand the differences and just need to decide what's most important. I love your channel for the detailed explanations and lack of "overhype".
Wow, another great vid, that Mojave took a serious beating! Maybe I'm just neurotic, but I tend to clean and lube everything when I'm working on these things, mostly because I'm not under any time restraint. Sometimes it's hard to watch some you tuber's work because they might just work differently than I do. That's not a criticism, just an observation. But the final shot of the truck all fixed up and clean looked really good!
I get that. So many people have differing way of doing the same things. What I've learned over time is, most of them work. Example: As always, if my way works for me, great, but that does not invalidate your way at all. There are times when I do complete teardowns and do a full clean and lube before rebuilding a truck, or car. As for the videos, they usually center upon a single point of interest, and I do feel a time crunch when building the content. If I took the time to include everything I would like to, the video would be seven miles long and too hard to watch. Thus, the abbreviated version of the builds. Just know that we do the work, we do the repairs correctly, and we care about the outcome. We understand the cars and work to keep them in good condition. I appreciate your attention to detail, and that you would take the time to complete the task whether it takes longer or not; that's a great quality, by the way. On that point we are a lot alike. Thanks for the comment and the observation. AJ
@@AJJAMStudios That's a big 10-4 on that! Also why I appreciate your content, because it covers issues that are usually not addressed in a Facebook group, for example, Also covers a lot of good, basic work habits!
Great vid!!
Thank you 😎👍
Love vids aj keep rocking
Thank you 😎👍
You mentioned that your long hex driver is worn. Dress the end back with a grinder or a manual stone till you remove the worn end. As always go slow and do not heat it till the temper is gone. I actually do the dressing while spinning the driver with the drive tool. That keeps the end square to the shaft. Once it is ground soften the sharp corners with some fine abrasive paper.

Thank you for the information. I am familiar with what it is you're expressing, and you're dead on as to how to do it. Your information is bang on. Thanks again. AJ
I love my Mojave the only upgrade I’ve done is a set of scorched rc inner fenders they really help to keep debris out.
Good to know. Thanks😎👍
Спасибо за видео ☺
You're welcome. 😎👍
Great video as usual! Is your Maxx brutal review coming out soon?
Not too far away. We have a few other options ahead of it. Thanks for asking. 😎👍
Thanks for another great video. I was wondering if you'd considered the "foam mod" for the body mounts in conjunction with the carbon fibre reinforcement? I used medium density foam from a pool noodle cut to size and secured with zip ties. It still provides for compression during impacts but further reduces breakage to the "springs" in the body mounts.
I have considered it, but as of yet the spring portion of the mounts hasn't been much of a problem. We break way more of the tabs than the baskets. If we begin having issues with that component we will definitely address the problem. Thanks for the input. AJ
I don’t own a Mojave but I can see it’s one tough little cookie .
I expected far more damage …. might have to look at getting one for the fleet 😁
It's a tank. I thought the damage would have been far more substantial, but nope. The Mojave is amazingly durable. If you get one, you won't be disappointed, it really is a like driving a rocket. And it looks cool when running. Thanks for the comment, AJ.
Looks great! What did you use to clean it? Curious….
We break the rules here somewhat, using simple green to spray the chassis and then, after about 5 minutes, we hose it off staying away from the electrical systems. We then dry the cars thoroughly before lubing the moving components, the bearings and such, and then wiping the rest of the chassis down with silicone spray on a rag. We also wipe the body down as well. This all takes time, and lubing the bearings requires run in time to get the bearings styled back up but we find it works just fine and you can get the car to look brand new. Also, once you’ve done all that the car can sit for months with no issues. I hope this helps. 😎👍
Hey Pal thanks for the content
Quick question, I have the mojave with spektrum electronics and my ESC fan is not working
Any upgraded fan that you might recommend?
I usually replace it with another stock one, but we cover the fan module with screen door mesh to keep the debris out. It really prolongs the life of the fan. Thanks for asking. 😎👍
should try the titanium drive shafts from m2c racing
Good idea. Thanks 😎👍
Great video, where can I purchase the upgraded ends for the center red brace!
Thanks in advance
We picked ours up on eBay. We searched the part number from the manual and they popped right up. Thanks for asking.
Thank you for your reply do you recommend to upgrade the front and rear knuckles? If so which one do you recommend???
Thank you in advance 👍

It does require patience but they do fit. 😎👍
