This talk had so much potential, but it is quite disappointing. She starts with great examples from her life making it personal and catching the attention of the audience. Then she continues reading her paper and touching briefly on issues we already know. Her conclusion is the old same story "yes we can, together we can" and leaves no practical solutions to the audience. At the same time, uninterested Dutch girls tapping their phones are filmed in the audience. I wanted to hear more about her story and what she did to change!
it was a wonderful message very inspiring and informative. it wasn't the best delivery but the message was much-needed. GOOD FOR HER! and thank you speaking
I agree... I'm a far better speaker when I can do it more freestyle. I'm proud of going up there, not so proud of the deliverance. Thank you for taking the time to watch it and understanding the message.
I agree, I should've never used those cards. My coach advised me to do so, and I respect her for it! But in my case practice doesn't make perfect. I'm far better when I wing it.
@@willastoutenbeek7629 I think it was outstanding! I was not distracted by your cards and in my case, usually practicing is easy but everything is different when you're in front of that many people!! Congratulations and your talk truly inspired me.
@Kasey Of course I was invited. The truth is, I'm a far better speaker when I can do it more freestyle. TED however wants to be sure of a certain standard, that's why you work with a coach and you have to memorize every part of your presentation. A great method for many, but a couple years later I can tell you, that's not what works for me. But hey, we live and we learn. I'm proud of doing it, not so proud of the deliverance. I do however still get a lot positive reactions which is really nice. Thank you for taking the time to watch it. :)

she is one of those person that is a good writer but cannot deliver it orally specially with looking at the cards the whole time.
fumbles.. but a good topic... more practice in front of a mirror perhaps

I'm sorry but who invited her to speak up here... so much disappointment..
No way?! :D I thought it was by invite
In that case, I believe it's indeed a great investment in exposure and possible funding opportunities. Thank you, Kasey, for clarifying that!
This is absolutely not true.
It was by invite.
