I remember, with fond memory, Ryan and Ronnie from their English language shows in the early 1970's. Are there any remaining films of the 'Our House' sketches? Also what was the meaning of 'don't call will on your father' - that joke escapes me.
I think Tony is almost right but I recall that the line was usually spoken by father, Will, (Ronnie) in the middle of admonishing his son, Nigel Wyn for some dreadful deed and was actually "Don't call me Will, I'm your father". Nigel Wyn's usual response was "Sorry, Will". Mam (Ryan) was usually too busy berating daughter Phyllis Doris for her latest carry on - "You brazen hussy" - to take a great deal of interest in this but continued to slice a loaf of bread into larger and larger chunks all the while. Every time I see a loaf of unsliced bread, I still think of this. Perhaps I should get out more.
+Leighton Yeo I remember it as 'Don't call Will of your father', but Tony is probably correct. I always remember the buttering of the bread before cutting it.
