Always have to look at the requirements to function for issues first .. nice find.

Well, I missed, too. Wouldn't have expected a wire out of the way, inside a loom to be the problem.
Always enjoy your diagnoses and explainations.

Just got done with the same exact problem. Replaced the TPS, no change, 0V at on the scanner, started looking at wires and it was worn through next to where it entered the main harness from rubbing on the valve cover.

Using a fused jumper makes perfect sense.. If the circuit was shorted to ground then a small Amp fuse would blow. Most the time pin point test would have you check for continuity between sensor connector and ecm. I like the fuse method and watching the pid. If the reading was 2.5 volts instead of 5 volts you would know there is still a problem of high resistance in the circuit. Either a wire damaged or connector damage would be most likely caused.

I used to use the Harbor Freight battery type lights but they go through alkaline batteries like they were candy and were not very bright. So, I'm not saying this is better or worse but I went to Amazon and got a KJ land rechargable head lamp and absolutely love it! Since you and I are about the same height and weight, for less than $20 I can tell you I was happy with it. Very very powerful and adjustable with other bells and whistles and I just have to remember to put it on charge at the end of the day.

I’ve only recently stumbled across you channel. I’ve enjoyed all of them so far. I like that you’ve taken time to make a repair video, then still posted it even though your diag may have been wrong. Shows how human you are. I just can’t get over the fact, though, that you look like Lucky Costa and sound like Chris Berman. It wobbles my mind. Keep wrenchin. Peace.

Thinking your truck had no driveability issues, since it's a cable TB, not fully electrical....New sub to your channel, great way you get into things to track down issues. Having been a mechanic 44 years of life can always learn new things from others lol. Now retired early, living in the Philippines. Sadly couldn't bring my massive amount of tools with me haha. And there aren't any auto parts stores on every corner like back home in So Cali. Bought few tools here are hardware and online stores for basic stuff to work on my little Suzuki 4x4 when needed.......Thanks for your great vids Kenny 👍

2.6.23. Kenny, if I lived near you, I would offer to be your videographer, not because you’re no good at it, it’s because it would enable you to be more productive instead of taking the time to shoot video and then later edit it. I will be retiring in a year, so I would be available. I like your channel, South Main Auto’s channel, Pine Hollow Diagnostic’s channel, and Scanner Danners channel, to me you guys are the cream of auto diagnostic/troubleshooting technicians‼️

Back a number of years ago GM use a lot of aluminum wiring particularly to the rear lights. The wires would break inside the plastic wire covering but showing no damage. A real night mare for finding where the break was. Pin peirced the wire all the way back or or install a new wire

You may have getting a reference code through the engine ground. Check the engine grounds on that engine to see if you've lost one or more.

It's odd that there was no hesitation or bucking. I have a dodge when my TPS went bad it would stop shifting. I keep a spare TPS in the truck lol.

  • @loul8897

ECM using MAF, RPM, ECT, INJ. PWM, O2 using a base program when TPS was lost

And only time there would be a problem would be on sudden throttle changes, e.g. suddenly flooring it would cause the engine to go lean until loop updates.

    @billmonroe8826 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You say it drives the same but you said previously that at times you had a detonation issue. Do you still have that or not? I agree with you on having a Silverado instead of a dodge. I use to work for Chrysler and I stated I'd never own one again.

Powers and ground, powers and grounds, it's always powers and grounds!
That is, unless it's the signal circuit!
Over the last few months, my 1993 Chevy C1500 would occasionally suffer entire transmission gear drop-out. Then, it started to misfire more and more.
First thing I did was spy the green crusties at the two ECM engine grounds right behind the alternator. A couple of years ago I did replace the engine/body/frame grounding straps so those weren't a worry.
Solder, liquid insulation, heat shrink tubing, etc., and now any other electrical tests should be true. But, the replaced grounding lugs banished the issue!
In addition, was getting some synchronized jitter in the RPM and tach readings on the gauge cluster. The replaced grounds cleaned that up too!
Now, the only annoyance left is a volt meter drop whenever the turn signals are activated. Upon the first nice day of Spring, I'll rework the turn signal grounding lugs front and rear.
The joys of maintaining a 30 year old vehicle!

Haaaa, you think that's strange...???... How's about having no fuel pressure on the fuel rail and trk drives okay .... 1993 Ford f150 5.0 ...I think the older trucks are designed to run and get you home, even though they ain't feeling good...New ones, ...Haaa !!... Better have the tow truck driver on speed dial...😊😊😊
