- Hey guys, TheSupremeRk9s here! 12 years ago I decided to take on my first ever shiny legendary hunt on my heart gold version despite only hunting for a full odds starter prior! It took a full month to get through all the resets I could on a singular game, but I will never forget the moment it finally happened. Since then I've spent countless hours chasing that same feeling, and though each and every shiny I get doesn't quite match that first excitement, its a hobby I can never see myself giving up! That's why I decided to go back to where it all first started and hunt down shiny ho-oh once again ~ and somehow it was just as memorable LMAO hope you guys enjoy this double feature!

This was the closest I've ever felt to failing a legendary shiny... I cut out quite a bit from the battle, but I did my best to replicate how scary things got before the battle was finally over!

@@TheSupremeRk9s I have never been in the vicinity of a shiny legendary, the only shiny I ever failed was a Tentacool in legends because it despawned before I could save-
It doesn’t sting anymore because I found one in Let’s Go Eevee

When Dallas was talking about how didn’t know how he got to somewhere like 8090 for his original ho-oh, it reminded of my favorite Dallas quote
“If you give up a hunt, its a waste of time” along with the classic Matt Absol quote “shinies are 100% as long as you keep going” and those are how I get through the brutal hunts. Anyways, congrats on the shinies! You inspired me to pick my ds back up and continue hunting snivy in black 2 :)
This reminds me of catching my shiny Ho-Oh in virtual console a few months ago. I had been hunting on and off for a long time, and I was worried it was impossible to get it somehow. I can still remember the joy of finally finding that thing.

Omg I cannot believe the timing of this video! I am literally shiny hunting ho-oh in heartgold as well rn, and it will also become my first ever shiny legendary! The game was an anniversary present from my partner and I started off the game with my first ever shiny starter, cyndaquil! Congrats on the shiny it was well deserved!

Ho-Oh on HeartGold was my first shiny legendary hunt almost a decade ago, too! I remember I got it within an hour at only 47 resets. It was one of the best moments of my shiny hunting career. This makes me want to go back and hunt it again, though the hard part would be locating a copy of the game at a reasonable price, haha
this is the single most scary shiny capture ive ever witnessed
ho-oh was my first legendary hunt as well and it was ridiculous. I didn’t have a master ball and found it after 16 soft resets, killed it because i was incredibly foolish. I found another at around 200 something (i think it was around there). THIS ONE struggled to death after what felt like a billion ultra balls. My brother gave me a master ball before i found the third (2200 ish, numbers on the last 2 are kinda fuzzy in memory) and i finally caught it lol
I have been hunting shiny Ho-oh for years but nothing so I decided to RNG hunt Ho-oh but I didnt know my SID so I EV trained my shiny Lugia and get other stuff ready for the RNG manipulation method and during the EV trainig I found a shiny Weedle and a shiny Pidgey.
After that and this video I might give soft resets another chance, if by 5k Im still empty handed I will force that Ho-oh to spark.
Congrats Dallas, this sure was a blast from the past, you have been the main reason I started taking an actual interest for shiny pokemon.

Got my shiny Darkrai in Platinum last week it was the Members Card Toys R Us event from like a decade ago. There's something about those 8192 hunts that feel way more rewarding.

This reminds me of getting mine in ORAS, Ho-oh only has 20PP, same as Lugia, had it struggle and even doing my best with heal pulse and hypnosis, I gave up and Masterballed both of them

Currently hunting ho oh in 4th gen! I'm almost at 7000.
I know you know what you're doing with how long you've been shiny hunting for, but fights like that Ho-oh are the reason why I always use different Smeargles depending on what the hunt is. I feel like Spore combined with Heal Pulse and/or Trick Leppa Berry is a ton safer for legendary hunts.
On the other hand though I guess if you like the risk, that's a fair point.

I have been trying to hunt for Ho-oh for a few months now, periodically while schoolwork runs up my back, and am currently at like 1200 resets so far. Thing is, I don’t think I’ll use it on my team & I want to just continue with playing the game (and eventually lead to shiny hunting mewtwo). Can I run from ho-oh (first encounter with kimono girls) and shiny hunt it again later on in the game like RK9 did?
