Very nice. Maybe you can put some custom made face frames to jazz it up in a few years to look more custom made. Hang the mirror on the back of the door and it'll never imped your design going forward. If sanded plywood ever comes down to reasonable price I'd build a bench 3' wide cushion and 2' base whose lid lifts for tons of more storage for boots and what not. Give you a place to set purchases and laundry as it's put away. Looking forward to the next project..Hope it's the washer/dryer connections for laundry...
Funny thing is I have no idea about a lot of this building and putting together but you make it interesting were it's very enjoyable to watch so kudos to you sir for the great job your doing.
you should cut the back bottom corner of the cabinet instead of cutting the trim, so if you want to re-arrange the cabinets you don't have to redo the baseboards.
I bought a house and decided to put new shelving in the closets before moving in. The fact that the previous owner had cut the trim instead of the cabinets made that project much harder than it needed to be.
looks sooo nice!! I like the idea of the "island" built out with the mirror on the end of it....that would be sweeeeet!! HAHA well it is not my closet ...HAHA It doesn't matter how you choose to do it ...it will look amazing!!! Yaay!
@@TKCL No one ever looks up so its like wasted storage space in a room like a closet. Its kind of like how people put bike racks hanging from the ceiling in garages. I know what you mean about the bottom of the drawers being flimsy! Eventually the weight of the clothes in the drawer makes the bottom bow out , then you can’t get the drawer open unless you empty it and push the wood back up! They sure don’t make furniture that is sturdy anymore! I am anxious to see what you build for the closet. Someone else has a good suggestion to hang a full length mirror o the back of the door, that would free up that wall if you decide to put some more shelving up! The cabinets you put in look nice but like you said you need a more sturdy hanging rod even t-shorts can weigh a lot if you have a lot to hang up! Have a good Easter and safe travels if you go away.
You need a zero clearance insert for that table saw. You can also stretch painters table along your cut line. That might help with some of the tear out.
Looking awesome Andrew! I'm not a guy, but I bet I know what you're putting in that cubby. Probably the same thing I have in mine. Necessities! lol I don't have many clothes either, but still love a big walk-in closet.
Your idea for having a central build-out is something I wish we had. Not for storage but for a place to fold laundry and store our dirty clothes hampers. We don't have a folding area in our laundry room and I'd rather just fold it right next to where I'm putting it away anyhow.
Looking really nice Andrew! Have you considered getting in contact with the manufacturer of the boards to see about maybe getting some of the 4 foot that you need?
Did you think about trimming the bottom of the cabinet to fit around the baseboard instead of trimming the baseboard? That way you could move the cabinet anywhere on the wall, or even to a different wall, without leaving a hole in the baseboard or cutting the baseboard again.

Ok not bad for the price and not standard spaces but you should have bought the IKEA units. Not a drawer so you can pick it up with ease. 9 feet left well I like to add a center unit poof so you can sit down it has to be a moveable unit. I would have a furniture unit with a top seating in Leather that opens up for blankets or shoes inside it. And a mirror on the wall is good and I seen a folding ironing table as well in some. But I would add 2 mirrors each sides as I would make e framed like your windows. As in giving it a bigger special effect and this way you also get to use the central space to add a set of drawers furniture grade with a top like your kitchen or a wood top to change the eye from commercial to personalizing now for the blades. That's correct. All in all it's under $1k. drawers were the most expensive part at 65 each. I'm just not setup in my shop to build drawers and cabinets.
I’m normally not picky but I hate those brackets especially with those corner gussets on the centerpiece. If it were me I would make brackets upon top where nobody ever gonna see them. Just get a straight piece of metal with four holes for screws and two screws or three screws in the top piece over the dress area and one or two on top of the cabinet just to hold it in place. Then you don’t need brackets on the bottom, suspending it from above would work if you put two or three on top
Problem is you are depending on a few short screws to support the shelf weight that way. Where as shelf brackets underneath is depending more on screw shear strength than just tiny threads holding.
@@TKCL Yeah, but with three strips on there it should be able to hold 50 pounds or so.
