I remember back in the day my friend spent his first pay packet on ECW Hardcore Revolution and he excitedly brought it over to my place and when he put it on I said it's WWF attitude. I could see his heartbreak. We still played it the whole night though
We got ECW TV on an independent TV station here in Detroit. I came across it while flipping through the channels and saw the Dudley Boyz rubbing Spike Dudley's forehead with a cheese grater. I was hooked. Wednesday at 9pm was appointment TV.
I really wish I grew up with the original ECW. Hearing all of the praise it gets everyday makes me wish I was born earlier. It looks super f*cking awesome. Not to mention, it gave birth to some of my all time favorites like RVD (who I recently met at an autograph signing, and he was super cool), Sandman, Raven, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, etc. At least I was able to watch ECW One Night Stand 2005 and 2006 which were AWESOME events. Great video, Ian.
To be fair, most of my ECW experience was by HEARING about ECW. You don't hear me talking about watching the shows and all the PPVs, ya know? ECW was considered one of the big 3, but in reality, it was much smaller than WWE or WCW. It was nearly impossible to find on television before the TNN show.
The funny thing is......the best chance many people got to see ECW was through video tapes you borrowed off your friends or hired from a video store before they got PPV. Down here in Australia, that was the ONLY way we got to watch it, VHS tapes were a god send to us, videos stores like Blockbuster were our holy grail for wrestling shows. There was no syndication here and cable tv here did not have ECW. We got WWF RAW on Fox Sports and WCW Nitro on TNT, both came on weekends (no Monday night wars for us.) But sadly no ECW. It was a fun time to be a fan, but there was also things that sucked at that time.
@@BeAGoodDoga To my recollection....the original ECW's tv show (Hardcore TV) was never on Foxtel, you might be thinking of WWE's ECW, that was on Fox 8 in 2006. But Hardcore TV never aired on Foxtel. Nitro and Raw yes, but Hardcore TV I'm absolutely sure never aired here. If it did....it must have aired at an ungodly time that nobody saw it, like 4am or something. But I'm absolutely positive it never aired here in Australia. My condolences for your dad's friend. :( We did get PPV's around late 99 for ECW but not very many. A show here and there and by that time ECW was on it's last legs. As for WWF and WCW, yes we got PPV's for Foxtel in 98 and we had Raw and Nitro on the weekends as I mentioned. But before PPV's came out for Foxtel and that all hit it's peak, we only had the VHS tapes. That was it. Foxtel changed all that and even then it was still hit and miss as to what we actually got. There was no WWE Network's or stuff like that back in those days. Fans are very lucky today.

This is the 14th episode of Triangle X Squared O, my dude. If you haven't seen the others, there's a link to the first 11 episodes combined into one movie in the description. Enjoy!
That new intro! Remixed an old school one by the sounds of it? I’ll miss Lights obviously, but that’s distinctly 616 right there. I dig it. I never knew what else Sculptured Software made. Those SNES Star Wars games were HYPER challenging. Seeing Raven in that Sandman shirt makes me wonder if they licensed the logos. I’m SURE they didn’t haha. I remember my friend buying Hardcore Revolution and we figured out it was just Attitude 2.0 and we were like “screw this game” after that. The M rating made us think there’d be some redeeming value. I know in Attitude you could switch the “rating” to teen, which uncensored the curses and changed some of the music. I’m not sure it works like that in Hardcore Revolution. The fact that Anarchy Rulz is literally the same thing is absolutely shocking haha. Kaimo getting a showcase, I like it. Awesome video, and I’m turbo hyped for WM2000. I played SO much of that game, excited to see that!
The new intro is totally original, but based on the same theme as the most recent and even older ones. It was actually our boy 'No Taxes' Nigel Bravo that made it! I told him I wanted to keep the same idea, a nice hard, fading note that is capped off with a jingle. I started to feel weird about still borrowing her music and using the PlayStation trophy sound, I was like shit, I should just have my own! So Nigel made a ton of variations and this is the one I chose. And no, there's no way they got permission for that shirt, hahahaha. Thanks for watching, brudda. The WM 2000 episode will be sick!
Awesome retrospective 🔥🔥🔥 vid as always I’ve never got the chance to play the ecw games as a kid i was always a wwf/e kid growing up cant wait for wm 2000
my one weird ECW memory, was a friend worked at Rolling Stones in Chicago and we decided to send away for the RF Video catalogue, and it arrives 2 weeks later and its literally times new roman text printed on that old copy machine paper with the holes on both side of the sheet.
@@616Entertainment I would like to think at some point Rolling Stones did a deep store clean and found this old thing and had a complete "what the fuck is this?" type of reaction. This catalogue btw was HUGE!! I believe I ordered a best of Sabu vhs and a Raven vs Tommy Dreamer feud tape, and my friend ordered a best of Taz, and some Hardcore TV fancams.
I'm actually willing to bet that Paul Heyman was the actual reason why these games were like this. I bet the designers offered either a full blown new creation or a rehash of attitude for cheap and ECW didn't have the cash to invest in that kind of risk so they went with the cheap option. I'td make sense because by 2000 it was publicly known there were financial issues and people were jumping ship to wcw wwf etc, so obviously Heyman would have known this before anyone. It was quick cash on the fading ECW brand, is what im saying.
@@616Entertainment I don’t miss it! Honestly your channel has help spark my creativity for my channel. I do wrestling physique breakdowns , so no gaming lol but still I see your passion and I respect it ‼️
I remember running to my local game shop after school to get hardcore revolution for the Dreamcast and loving it I didn't care that it felt like attitude because I loved that game all I knew in my 15 year old head is that I could choose RVD for the first time in a game. It may not have been the ECW game it should have been but it still had that ECW flavor and that was good enough for me. Just a quick edit but to 616, you need to try wrestling empire, it's fucking awesome and also thanks for another great video!
Thanks for watching. We'll see what happens with Empire. The same dude has commented on my videos like 15 times telling me to play it, it makes me NOT want to play it, hahahahaha
@@616Entertainment the career mode is something else dude, trust me. I'm playing it on the switch but I know there different versions available for PC and mobile and I'm not sure what those ones are like, Just check out some gameplay on youtube for a good idea of what it's about.
I remember wanting a WWF game so bad on the N64, after having the WCW ones, and one day, my mom got me WWF Warzone. I played that game like crazy and loved it so much, and looking back, it was not great in the slightest but I still enjoy it and get the feeling I did playing it as a kid. Much like all these Acclaim games at this point haha
Another great video game review. Love to see it whenever I wake up. Hoping we can see a video on the fire pro series or UFC’s video game series in the next year🥺
I rented this game so much as well.....never could bring myself to ask for it but it had its moments for sure and I occasionally when play it on my ps1 classic. to this day. Can't wait for wm 2000 video!
The ECW games were somewhat poorer versions of WWF Warzone and Attitude. Anarchy Rulz was very much the better of the two because it had more options to play with and stuff for CAW, more match types. But gameplay wise both games were pretty much the same. I did enjoy putting my CAWs in the insane match types and letting the chaos commence. The match where you could burn up your opponent in lava surrounding the ring was hilarious. Now as for the ECW shows......Fun is the word I think of. ECW was fun. Crazy, violent, sexy and fun! It was wrestling that your mum and dad didn't want you to watch....but my parents let me anyways. :)
I bought the game when it was first released. It came with a VHS of PPV highlights like the RVD vs Jerry Lynn classic... I played the VHS more than the game
Broo! My Grandma bought me ECW Hardcore Revolution for MY Birthday.... But, she got me the Dreamcast Version, and, i had a Playstation.... I had already pre ordered and purchased the game myself... Gotta Love Grandmas!!
When i first got ECW hardcore revolution, i immediately knew it was just warzone reskinned. But if it meant i could play as RVD or super crazy, it didn’t matter much to me me lol. But really, the game should have been developed on an engine that could truly capture what ECW was
Damn you youtube why do you make 616 blur the commercial lol when i saw the toy commercial i remembered that when i was a kid it was like being a little kid seeing all this because i ended up getting this game for my birthday and i didnt like it at first because i wanted to play spider-man ps one and i thought a family member would get it for me for my birthday but nope i was even surprised ecw had a game played it and it was okay i think the botton combos got to me but at the end i still have it and I still have my fun moments of play as rvd lol thanks for the video and all the work you do 🤙
It wasn't TH-cam, it was actually WWE. They manually copyright strike'd me on it. Demonetized the video, blocked it in certain countries, etc. I went in and blurred it myself and was able to overturn the strike. Keep that in mind next time you want to see WWE is great, lol. Thanks for the kind words. =)
I remember Hardcore Revolution cause me and my brothers rented it when we were the N64 back in the day. We had some fun with it but we never really kept renting it after that. The points you made comparing WWF and WCW during that time in wrestling was spot on. Made total sense to me. Yea. We're all young kids with high hopes and big letdowns
No, I do not have good memories of Hardcore Revolution, and I did not play Anarchy Rulz, but I have streamed, and will stream again, Hardcore Revolution and watch the CPU go at it, because it is fun to stream while watching the game play and talking about the good ol' days of ECW with viewers in the chat. One day, I hope to do the same with Anarchy Rulz. Good video 616. E-C DUB! E-C DUB! E-C DUB!
Great review as always Ian! Have to correct you on the no tables in Hardcore Revolution. Though very rarely the tables do show up in the occasional Hardcore match. I own both the PS1 & Dreamcast versions of both games, the Dreamcast games doesn't even allow you to choose alternate attires even though each character has 4 in the game ,when you select the same character you can see alternate attires. Anarchy Rulz on Dreamcast had very buggy announcers which are the best part of the PS1 version. Lots of issues with these games!
16:57 - "UFC" Octagon cage match. The first UFC video game came out for the Sony PS4 & the XBox One, June 2014; 19:25 - Gabe Sapolsky (a Paul Heyman protege; ROH booker).
@@616Entertainment Yes. You are Correct. It was for the Sega Dreamcast / Sony PS1. Sudden Impact & Tap Out series came out for both (Microsoft) XBox; Sony PS1 platforms.
The way you described the Tables match type in Anarky Rulz fits, after all they had a Ladder Match for the World Title that had nothing hanging and it could only end by pinfall or Submission.
i actually enjoyed Anarchy Rulez quite a bit when i was a kid. This game was the first introduction to ECW for me. Games was pretty bad obviously, but i'm glad that this video give them some justice. Good job, man.

This is the 14th episode of Triangle X Squared O, my dude. If you haven't seen the others, there's a link to the first 11 episodes combined into one movie in the description. Enjoy!
@@616Entertainment o I seen them & those were very entertaining bro keep doing you, your channel is awesome
This is why I stay till the end of your vids 😂😂
Hahahahah I'm glad someone does.
Now this is a video I was waiting for. Ian dropping dimes.
Always, brudda.
Dude the skit at 15:20 had me on the floor laughing! 😂 Can’t wait for the next episode
I've been making sure to write in the characters because you guys seem to enjoy them, hahaha
@@616Entertainment just do what we always do, make the same fuckin game but add like 2 things lmao you’re funny af
Awesome retrospective 🔥🔥🔥 vid as always I’ve never got the chance to play the ecw games as a kid i was always a wwf/e kid growing up cant wait for wm 2000
You didn't miss much. But don't worry, the WM 2000 episode will be big time.
my one weird ECW memory, was a friend worked at Rolling Stones in Chicago and we decided to send away for the RF Video catalogue, and it arrives 2 weeks later and its literally times new roman text printed on that old copy machine paper with the holes on both side of the sheet.
Hahahahhaha
Another quality video man, keep up the amazing work!
Thanks dude. More to come!
Ian...simply thank you bro! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Thanks for watching!
@@616Entertainment I don’t miss it! Honestly your channel has help spark my creativity for my channel. I do wrestling physique breakdowns , so no gaming lol but still I see your passion and I respect it ‼️
HELL YEAH!!! I was literally playing WM2000 while watching this video! I can't wait!
It's going to be big time, man.
Thanks for the videos 6161
thanks for watching!
Great review I still love these games and I still have both of these games they're still playable
Thanks for watching!
Loving the ninja turtles theme in the background 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Good ear!
God has it really been 20 years since ECW went away? Man that makes me feel real old 😂
Yessir. Crazy, right?
Another great video game review. Love to see it whenever I wake up. Hoping we can see a video on the fire pro series or UFC’s video game series in the next year🥺
We'll see! I really want to do MMA games but I feel weird about throwing them into Triangle X Squared O. I'm not sure how to go about it.
I love your content dude. The mortal kombat and wrestling stuff is awesome keep doing what your doing
Plenty more on the way!
All these years later, and the best ECW game we've ever received was Fire Pro Wrestling World for the PS4 & Steam all along.
Love the new intro! As always great coverage of both these games, never played them but don't really want to in all honesty.
Thanks dude, I'm glad you like the new intro!
Great video but question for you. Was that music from TMNT Turtles in Time playing in the background...???
Yep!
I rented this game so much as well.....never could bring myself to ask for it but it had its moments for sure and I occasionally when play it on my ps1 classic. to this day. Can't wait for wm 2000 video!
Dude the WM2000 one is going to be great.
Same exact engine, yep. Sad state of affairs. I'm glad you have positive memories of the ECW era, though. That's the important part!
Great video as usual 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks for watching!
Anyone else just jamming out to the turtles in time music in the background?
Glad you like the music choice. =)
@@616Entertainment random question who's your favorite turtle? Mines Donnie
@@heathjames6733 You'll find out on Friday. =)
When u said u rented the hell out of it made me think of the time I kept renting backstage assault 🤣
Hahahahaha we've all been there.
Enjoyed the TMNT arcade music with your commentary.
Excellent OST.
I bought the game when it was first released. It came with a VHS of PPV highlights like the RVD vs Jerry Lynn classic... I played the VHS more than the game
Oh you got that SPECIAL edition!
I remember getting hardcore revolution for free from my friend when I was 16. I was excited and I enjoyed it a lot. :)
Hey, free is never bad.
Falling face first onto a table with an "OOF" sums up the ECW games pretty well
Hahahahaa I'm glad you guys are finding that funny.
Lot of sneak peaks that totally paid off. see you - next time!
Hope you enjoyed it, my dude.
I learn more about wrestling from your videos than damn near anywhere else combined. Ty DanDan
Just started watching, already digging the Turtles in Time soundtrack 👍👍👌👌👌
Glad you like the music choice!
Broo! My Grandma bought me ECW Hardcore Revolution for MY Birthday.... But, she got me the Dreamcast Version, and, i had a Playstation.... I had already pre ordered and purchased the game myself... Gotta Love Grandmas!!
Dude, grandmas coming through with some ECW.
When i first got ECW hardcore revolution, i immediately knew it was just warzone reskinned. But if it meant i could play as RVD or super crazy, it didn’t matter much to me me lol. But really, the game should have been developed on an engine that could truly capture what ECW was
Awesome video
Thanks James!
U welcome
Hahaha I rented this out with a couple of friends back in the day - and we also cracked up over Roadkill's entrance. I can also not explain why XD
CHICKENS!
Hahahahah thanks for watching, man
@@616Entertainment no prob man
No, I do not have good memories of Hardcore Revolution, and I did not play Anarchy Rulz, but I have streamed, and will stream again, Hardcore Revolution and watch the CPU go at it, because it is fun to stream while watching the game play and talking about the good ol' days of ECW with viewers in the chat. One day, I hope to do the same with Anarchy Rulz. Good video 616. E-C DUB! E-C DUB! E-C DUB!
You don't have good memories, but you like to watch the game while talking about the good old days? You're making good memories, ass!
@@616Entertainment Not sure how to interpret your comment but thanks for responding! Lol.
@@ronmower Hahaha I'm just saying that you're making good memories with it as we speak!
@@616Entertainment Ah ok gotcha lol.
Im old school, started in 1986. So yes I remember its predecessor Tri State Wrestling Alliance and Tod Gordon started ECW in February 1992.
I have never once, ever, seen a table in Hardcore Revolution. I'm gonna need proof if you're making that claim!
WTF TH-cam I didn't even know this video was up good to see you cover the ECW games
Click the damn bell. God damn TH-cam.
@@616Entertainment I'm fully subscribed Damn TH-cam

@@damightybenstein A joke? Never. A second thought...perhaps.
Biiiiiig time. =)
While I’ll always wish ECW got a quality video game, my buddy and I would pop these in every once in a while and laugh our asses off. Good times.
Dude as long as you can have fun, that's all that matters.
Such great memories of playing hardcore revolution with my dad
The good old days.
I hold those memories close to me now since my dad had a stroke and he's just not the same now
Yessirrrr been waiting on this one!!
Hope you enjoyed it!
The way you described the Tables match type in Anarky Rulz fits, after all they had a Ladder Match for the World Title that had nothing hanging and it could only end by pinfall or Submission.
Dude, who knows what the hell they were thinking most of the time, hahahaha
Pretty cool new intro! Oh boi WWF Warzone/Attitude 2.5 lol
Thanks for noticing!
i actually enjoyed Anarchy Rulez quite a bit when i was a kid. This game was the first introduction to ECW for me.
Games was pretty bad obviously, but i'm glad that this video give them some justice.
Good job, man.
Thanks for watching, dude.
