You know, after watching this trailer, I realized they could add this really cool feature where after finishing your playthrough, you're given a saved file that is a continuous in-game cinematic of your playthrough. It'll have all your cut scenes without the choices popping up and show your non-cut scene parts from a cinematic camera angle. That way you can watch it again as a movie made by your choices or show it to others.
I think in Heavy Rain (if you played it, it's from the same developers) there were credits after the game, where you were practically shown all your major choices in a sequence (or was it alternatives? Someone help me remember)

Something I've noticed with the androids after watching a playthrough of the game was that it touches on a lot of things from the past and reminds me of the peaceful protests with coloured people, the concentration like camps for androids, and even the blue triangles on the androids shirts. With the blue triangles, it reminds me of the stars that the Jews were required to wear during WWII, this game touches on a lot of these serious topics which I really enjoyed
Also it seems to me, the phrase "become human" actually is not addressed to androids, who should acquire feelings and emotions - they stay different form of life at all. It's about mankind who should "become human" to be able to recognize a living being in their creatures
Heh, not quite- Robocop was a case of a single cyborg. This game seems to be about multiple Asimovian Androids in a postmodern society, and the struggle inherent in an artificial intelligence capable of emotion.
More or less, yeah. This one's about full robots that have to deal with being people that aren't seen as people. If you look at the teaser, there's more content than just Connor solving mysteries.
Real choices, and meaningful consequences. Even if that hostage taker died in each of those scenarios shown, the context changed completely and how does that effect the story or player? Something the TellTale games are sorely lacking. This is hopefully right up there with Heavy Rain and Until Dawn in the genre of games where story continues with many possible branches and no game over screen until the credits roll. I don't include Beyond Two Souls among those because that was more like the TellTale games (just a linear story with button presses, except never asks you to repeat play if you fail some quick times).
Best game in this genre in recent years was Until Dawn (see metacritic) which wasn't made by Quantic Dream. Their last game, Beyond Two Souls was quite disappointing for people expecting something at the level of Heavy Rain. It is on them now to not disappoint with Detroit, and at least by the trailers they seem to be on the right path. They have found a story to tell that doesn't require player to play the same protagonist the whole game, and I think that was greatest constraint on Beyond Two Souls keeping that from having actual branching storylines and meaningful choice/consequences.
Heavy Rain also remains my favorite out of the genre. Until Dawn was surprisingly good, so it probably got some extra favor in the aggregate reviews from that. Right now Until Dawn is at 79, Heavy Rain at 78, and Beyond Two Souls at 72. I also enjoyed Beyond Two Souls but more like how I enjoy the TellTale games where they are not in the same class of game as Heavy Rain, but they still have interesting essentially non-branching linear stories and I just have to click some buttons to get to experience that. As I said in my original comment, I am hoping Detroit is more in the class of game that Heavy Rain was, instead of being like the TellTale games or Beyond Two Souls.
The thing is with these games I always X out or reload a chapter when I don't like the decision I make, which probably ruins it. Wish there was an option to disable doing that.
Well they already confirmed in an interview that this game will be like a spiritual successor to Heavy Rain, in that consequences will be dealt like how they were in that game (Probably even more so) plus like in that game you can kill off any of the main characters and the game will continue without them and if you kill off all of the main characters the game gives you an ending :D Heavy Rain is also my favorite in the genre and I hate it when people bash that game but like Until Dawn, Life is Strange, and the Telltale games but fail to realize that Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain/Indigo Prophecy) literally created the genre. None of those games would exist without it.

Unless there's like a cloud storage system where androids could transfer memory form one model to the other, he would die. but I don't think this is a thing because the whole dilemma wouldn't have happened if it existed. Daniel was only holding holding the girl hostage because he was pissed that he was going to be replaced by a better and newer model. If the cloud storage system existed, his memory would have been able to transfer to the new model, and he probably wouldn't get pissed. If you're wondering how I know that's the premise of that mission, I just paused at all the clues in the trailer. You only need to see the verification of the human's purchase to make sense of Daniel's breakdown.

Best game in this genre in recent years was Until Dawn (see metacritic) which wasn't made by Quantic Dream. Their last game, Beyond Two Souls was quite disappointing for people expecting something at the level of Heavy Rain.
It is on them now to not disappoint with Detroit, and at least by the trailers they seem to be on the right path. They have found a story to tell that doesn't require player to play the same protagonist the whole game, and I think that was greatest constraint on Beyond Two Souls keeping that from having actual branching storylines and meaningful choice/consequences.
Heavy Rain also remains my favorite out of the genre. Until Dawn was surprisingly good, so it probably got some extra favor in the aggregate reviews from that. Right now Until Dawn is at 79, Heavy Rain at 78, and Beyond Two Souls at 72.
I also enjoyed Beyond Two Souls but more like how I enjoy the TellTale games where they are not in the same class of game as Heavy Rain, but they still have interesting essentially non-branching linear stories and I just have to click some buttons to get to experience that.
As I said in my original comment, I am hoping Detroit is more in the class of game that Heavy Rain was, instead of being like the TellTale games or Beyond Two Souls.
The thing is with these games I always X out or reload a chapter when I don't like the decision I make, which probably ruins it.
Wish there was an option to disable doing that.

Well they already confirmed in an interview that this game will be like a spiritual successor to Heavy Rain, in that consequences will be dealt like how they were in that game (Probably even more so) plus like in that game you can kill off any of the main characters and the game will continue without them and if you kill off all of the main characters the game gives you an ending :D
Heavy Rain is also my favorite in the genre and I hate it when people bash that game but like Until Dawn, Life is Strange, and the Telltale games but fail to realize that Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain/Indigo Prophecy) literally created the genre. None of those games would exist without it.

No, he'd die. haven't you drop a phone off a skyscraper? All internal processing would more than likely be destroyed. Unless there's like a cloud storage system where androids could transfer memory form one model to the other, he would die. but I don't think this is a thing because the whole dilemma wouldn't have happened if it existed.
Daniel was only holding holding the girl hostage because he was pissed that he was going to be replaced by a better and newer model. If the cloud storage system existed, his memory would have been able to transfer to the new model, and he probably wouldn't get pissed.
If you're wondering how I know that's the premise of that mission, I just paused at all the clues in the trailer. You only need to see the verification of the human's purchase to make sense of Daniel's breakdown.

This is a pervasive misconception: It is rather rare that there is any one right choice. Most often there is no wrong choice, not even a better choice. Most often, the particular choice doesn't matter, as long as a choice is made.
School exams are the most common exception, and the one everyone is familiar with.
And most choice-based games are modelled after that. But not all.
That said: This is a game, so no choice is really permanent. This gives you the opportunity to explore alternative choices that you rarely get in real life.
I love how Markus and Kara in their trailers say "I am one of them", but Connor doesn't, implying that he is the only playable character that doesn't deviate right away.

I've watched every one of the Zaibatsu's LPs of David Cage's games. I'm looking forward to the release of Detroit just so I could enjoy them LPing it.
After Omikron, the TBFP LP of Detroit: Become Human will either be the Redemption arc that sees David Cage defeated, or it will shatter them utterly. By the time the end credits roll, one side will be utterly defeated.
