Those are some weak arguments rlly... Tutorial is different from what you are used to, a patch of grass glitched once, a bird tweeted too loudly, what a disappointment. Better change the title of your vid to - I failed to record the vid the first time because resolution reseted. Now im being pissed off and hating the game.
This is the first game from Mundfish, and as a debut I feel like they can learn a lot of things from how this game is being received. They threw a lot at the wall here, some of it stuck, so I really hope they take the good, weed out the bad, and that their next game is better. You gotta give credit for how ambitious this is from a small studio.
To me it seems like a lot of the times the gameplay is the last thing on the to-do list during development. Issue is, you need a gameplay loop that is enjoyable, engaging and fun for a video game. A game's most important part is the gameplay, everything else comes after. They are very important for the overall product but gameplay triumphs.
Mah people were way more hyped for this game, even if all the warning signs were there Oh and the fact that at one point the studio wanted to sell player statistics to the Russian FSB but backed out when people found out
@@ArcturusOTE considering google and tik tok pick up and sell peoples data, don’t think people would really care especially since there is no benefit other than pretty negligible cash.
Who the fuck expected this goof ass square enix game to be good after that demo 💀 goddamit they coulda just gave avalanche the money to make just cause 5 instead
I really enjoyed the game, I found it odd that there were a few areas that weren't even touched in the campaign, but my biggest issue was that there wasn't more content. The story felt so short, 27 hours in and I'm already 1/4th the way through a second campaign on hard, and I loved the content that was there, just wish there was more.
I don't see this game as even slightly disappointing. Some people who were ignorant attempted to hype it up to possibly be one of the best games in recent history, when we have 0 other games from the developers. Those people had extremely unreasonable and unrealistic expectations, and I think for being the first game ever for them, along with being a very small studio, that they put out an AMAZING first game! Idk what other first ever game made by a low key studio could compare to this quality wise as a whole.
@@budgreen4040 if you don’t think it’s worth 70 then don’t buy it 🤷 Only objective way we can judge whether a game is worth the asking price is by content and playability. Compared to many AAA titles released over the past decade, the game has a plethora of varied content so there’s that box checked. As for playability, the game has been praised for being optimized incredibly on launch, especially for an UE4 title. Also, I know this doesn’t apply to PS5 but the game is available on game pass which is an option for both PC and XBOX so it’s not like you can’t try it before spending 70. Does the game have short comings? Absolutely. Is that to be expected for a AA studios first title which has been in development hell? Absolutely. The game has consistently been scored 7-9 which is commendable for a debut title with insane hype built around it. The game shows more polish than the likes of Fallout 4, an actual AAA game from a seasoned studio with more experience and funding.
@Bud Green eh, I look at my spending on video games in terms of hours of gameplay and enjoyment. If I get 10 hours out of a $70 game, its cheaper entertainment than me going out for the night. And although Atomic heart is like 15 to 20 hours to beat, I get like double the hours, because I don't just play through directly, I mess around a bit. To each their own, I think its a great first effort. I think theu deserve to grow into something bigger, especially based on the level of creativity and artistic work they put into it.
@@alissonnaso3439 I tend to agree with you. I still think charging an absolute top shelf price removes a lot of defenses for shortcomings. I don’t think it’s a horrible game, just not worth the asking price. Glad for Gamepass, as this is a game I really wanted to check out. I wouldn’t have for $70 though. There’s impressive facets to the game and I’d be interested if there was a follow up to it.
Everyone else: this is a really disappointing AAA game Me: this is a really impressive single A game Not sure why anyone expected an obscure Russian game from an unproven 20-man studio to be polished or anything more than just 'pretty interesting' and 'a good try'.
Tbh it is actually more polished than most AAA games and works better on a technical level, but that and its cool graphics and art design are the only things it has going for it. Gameplay is just okay and it feels like someone tried to make a Soviet Bioshock Infinite but forgot to make good dialogue.
I honestly had so much fun with the game I just felt like it could have been a little longer and a little more challenging. I feel for Mundfishes first game this was a hit for them I just wish they didn’t cut so much content (weapons, enemies, areas etc). The game DID have intuitive mechanics, some of the most beautiful artistic direction I’ve ever seen and I liked the story even though it was rushed. Lets hope for some decent DLC
@@shatteredmirror4458 I just don’t think I can be too hard on a company when this is their first game. At least it came out stable and playable compared to a lot of triple A games
@@KingKhalid888 I agree. It's a shame that they were hit so hard with backlash. The game seems genuinely awesome to play and looks super cool. Of course I am biased because I've been a fan boy of this game for the past four years.
I kinda think the opposite of this review. Although I like the world of the game I thought the story felt rushed. I also really enjoy the gameplay. The melee weapons and the elemental abilities were so much fun to use. Also I had noticed that you said that you couldn't change the difficulties, but for me I was able to change it. I started on easy and changed to normal and the change stayed. I was playing on xbox though, so it might be different.
I was Loving this game but then i got to the point with the hegie boss so i turned my sensitivity up and i had so much fun. Then there's him complaining about every little thing.
@@Blue-Apple-fc9eo And yet he praised a combo meter in GOW while criticizing a style meter in DMC, and he does shit like that all the time, critique my ass, he doesn't qualify as a critic.
I'm glad you mentioned the FOV. I've never really thought about it that way. That probably explains why I couldn't play God of War and I'm not a big fan of 1st person shooters at all. It just feels like you're standing in front of a wall staring at it while all the action is going on behind you. Claustrophobic as heck for me.
I hear this A LOT for modern games: "It gets good at the (20-hour) mark." I don't even bother anymore 😂 If I am really curious, I wait until these games have deep discounts to even consider trying them out.
and then there's games like doom eternal(this channel's gold standard for games) and ultrakill where within the first 3 minutes of the game you're already having more fun that the entire first 20 hours of something like atomic heart
I think you have to set it before you start the game(not 100% sure) I changed my language in game and it just changed the text in my pause menu and subtitle language not the people speaking’s language. I might have just missed the other one though.
Yes you can. For whatever reason the dialogue is tiny so I got eye strain trying to read it. Writing is absolutely trash either way though and the game loves to force you into mediocre cutscenes
It's interesting to think that there's a risk of being called a "bad faith actor" by describing the moments that were boring or frustrating, in the game you played entirely, and also describing the times that were interesting. I was hoping Atomic Heart would be a big hit.
I think one of the things that you should keep in mind is that, as far as I'm aware, this is Mundfish's first game, and they are a Russian team. While other studios come out with a perfect game on their first try, I think that a lot of the QoL issues that you mentioned in the beginning of the review are probably a result of relatively inexperienced devs not considering certain factors. I think because of how visually impressive the game is and how close to a Triple A title this looks and feels, it is easy to forget that this is still an Indie Game, and that they don't have the same level of experience as Triple A studios in giving their games accessibility options. Regarding your issues with the main character, English isn't their first language (I think), and probably not the language that the game was written in, and so it's likely that a lot of the awkwardness and the narcissism of the protag might be holdovers from the original Russian that didn't translate as well. TL;DR: Cut them a bit of slack since it is a project by an inexperienced studio that doesn't speak English as their first language. While it's possible for them to do better, I think that with a few tweaks the game can be improved significantly Real quick thing I want to add, I am aware and appreciate that Mayo is very honest and straightforward with his opinions and states his experiences and frustrations exactly as they happened. It is very admirable to have that level of honesty, especially in a medium like reviewing art. The goal of this comment was just to perhaps bring something to Mayo's attention that he may not have considered.
@@llamadelreyii3369 No you are absolutely right! I am glad that Mayo is pointing out the pitfalls that the game trips into, and I honestly hope that the devs hear and listen to the community's criticisms to improve their game, hopefully with balance patches and maybe even extra content! However, I do think think that in the way that he expresses them, Mayo can come off as a little harsh and condescending. By no means am I implying that he is doing this intentionally, I'm a teaching assistant at a university, and sometimes I also get feedback that my advice, while correct and helpful, rubs them the wrong way. It's a matter of phrasing and presentation, which yeah, it sucks that sometimes people don't consider just the objective facts, but humans are emotional creatures, and so it is important to take that into account, especially when giving advice and criticism
@@FernandoCuadro there are no AAA developers in Russia. Everyone who still knew how to do things ran away to foreign studios fifteen years ago. The rest are engaged in indie games, of varying degrees of depravity (mostly garbage). I say this as a russian
There seems to be this new wave of developers making combat / puzzle games that are visually stunning but skimp the combat and movement...... Kinda sucks, Scorn is a perfect example of this. The sound design and visuals is outstanding, but leaves you feeling starved on actual in game diversity. Another perfect example of "Just develop the game an extra year and release something thought out and well executed. -End Rant.
My problem with Atomic Heart is that it can’t find its own identity. Atomic heart without a doubt contains bioshock and fallout DNA, this may have been fine in the early 2010s but today it feels like a cut/paste without originality. It’s like I heard one reviewer say “it’s like if bioshock made wolfenstein” and that is true, but the novelty of the experience ends there, after about 15 minutes of gameplay for me.
I don't understand why you want every game to be some master skill only, super sweaty doom eternal clone. Not every game needs to be hard as piss, sometimes I just want to play a game that makes me feel like a god with a bunch of ability's and guns so I can shred through enemies, if you don't like that then that's fine but quit preaching for every game to be that way.
Prey gets downright comedic on repeat playthroughs. But it does not get that ridiculous until you know what you're doing and where all the good stuff is. Prey has at least two playthroughs, one where you are fumbling about trying to survive an alien occupation. And another where you are a precognitive kelptomaniac who is ready willing and able to make 300 shotgun shells as soon as you get to Psychotronics. It's a real shame about Atomic Heart, my brother and I were holding out hope it would be in Prey's league. Especially since his favorite genre of horror is failed Soviet experiments.
Well that's unfortunate, had a gut feeling it would turn out this way. The main thing I anticipated was Mick and Geoff's music anyways, speaking of which I think Geoff should've been mentioned when you talked about Mick's music, he deserves the recognition. Nonetheless, good review as always, I especially agree with the gameplay bringing down the art design, such wasted potential 😔
This game is pretty good, don't expect everything to be out of the world alot of games have alot of similarities to gameplay don't listen to unknown TH-camr like these, play it yourself and enjoy it
If you have a hunch that you'll enjoy it, you probably will, especially if you enjoy games like Dying Light and Far Cry; the "make your own fun" games.
In this day and age, every FPS or even other genres of games should have mandatory FOV sliders even on consoles. FOV is so important on how the game plays and feels
@@JuanCarlos-dz4tz Dude, low FoV was the norm only for console games because you were supposed to play them on a large tv while sitting on a couch. This isn't the case nowadays. Not having an FoV slider for an FPS that releases on PC is a crime.
@@Mothecary bruh you didnt just use the word "real gamers" as a reason to unvalidate their opinion, they have a good point on the FOV option thing, for some reason when i play a game that has low FOV and i cant change it i get a pain in the neck and it makes me feel a bit nauseous. but lets remember it IS the firs game of the studio and they can still update the game to add the options the teople want so lets be patient and see how things evolve for now
I couldn't play Blacklight: Retribution as the FOV was too low, which was a shame as the game seemed really fun, but it made me physically sick due to camera sway, and low FOV which made it borderline unplayable at the time.
I remember how brutally slow the character was moving in the original trailers and that had me really worried. Especially since those trailers showed massive outdoor spaces. Even in those trailers I could tell there was dissonance between the music, space and movement. Holy shit this game looks beautiful. But it definitely does not look fun.

I will not disregard reviews that do not recommend this game as I know that with any game that not everyone is going to enjoy it, so it is a shame that after all this time waiting that it ended up being a disappointment as I wished you could have enjoyed this game more for what it is trying to be, but nevertheless even though I respect your opinions and overall think your voice should well indeed be heard, to me personally this game looks like something that I think will be right up my alley, yeah it may not be perfect or flawless in its design, story ark and gameplay, but just like the banging soundtrack that is within this game with the amazing Mick Gordon and other inspirational music, this game just hits all the right notes with me from seeing it, and even with the flaws I just know I will still enjoy my time with this game.
i agree as long as some aspects are good for one person and bad for another thats fine Everyone has a opinion IN my eyes i love the idea of starting off with a powerful ability and the weird as heck movement thing can add tension in a fight
@@garygearboy1358 And another thing is too this is the very first game made by Mundfish studio, so for being their first jab at game development, I dare say they didn't do too shabby of a job and pulled it off well enough. Also if you want my opinion, the real first major disappointment of the year was Forspoken, but again to each their own.
Personally, I enjoyed it so far. However the bloat is ungodly in my opinion. I don’t like having puzzle after puzzle rammed down my throat especially when it’s at a moment where I should be feeling the adrenaline pumping.
Looks like a typical overambitious Eastern European "X" killer game that wants to be everything at once. Charming in its own way but lacks polish and strategic vision from the creators. Probably wouldn't get nearly as much traction without the controversy around it. A solid 7 out of 10 if we're being honest.
Some of the issues in the video has been resolved with mods just within a week.(for pc players) 1-) FOV slider mod is available. 2-) Subs also fixed. with mods you can made them as big as you want 3-) You can skip mini games with mods 4-) There already combat rebalance options like faster melee or more damage output etc. Also the game meant to be played in russian this is why you didnt like the dialog. english subs + russian voice.
1) Availability of mods for PC players doesn't invalidate criticism of the core product when tons of people will experience it like this, especially console. 2) Never mentioned subs. Mods don't count against criticism, this isn't a PC exclusive game. 3) Mods don't count against criticism, this isn't a PC exclusive game. 4) What? Also, the game never recommends the game to be played in Russian. Many other big games from foreign made games have great english performances as a priority because the studios know that it's a huge english market and that's the standard. If they're going to go against that standard, they need to communicate that to the player because MOST people will never think to play it in russian. Hell, many people don't even know where games come from, they just play them. Look at Ghost of Tsushima. Right when you start the game, they ask you to pick a preferred experience. One of them being Japanese dialogue with English subtitles. Not hard to include that feature! They didn't do it, so the default English setting is worthy of all the criticism it gets.
@@underthemayo i did mention mods are for pc players. Yes you are right, they should ve went with the ghost of tsushima kind of dialog option. Sekiro also asks the player the same thing. I dont think they had the courage to say "play our game in russian" at least not in this fucked up political environment. Also trust me swearing in russian is different than swearing in english. Its more like a cultural thing thus the game will sound and feel different in russian.
Wait dude, you are telling me you didn't even put 200 hours into this game? How did you even experience it? I put at least 600 hours into each rpg I play before I can decide whether I like the game or not. And if you think that is a lot, well, my wife's boyfriend will tell you that it's perfectly fine and he doesn't even play videogames.
A Developer left a comment on a recent negative Steam user review and he said that a FOV slider and more things are going to be implemented in the next patch.
wait, FIRST major disappointment? Bro, have you seen Forespoken? xD Your argument can also be made for callisto Protocoll This is no hate, but calling it the first disappointment of the year is a bit much xD
Seems for every person "disappointed" in Atomic Heart, there is another person who is raving about how great it is. I have only played about 90 minutes so far, but I must say I am firmly in the second camp. If this is a "disappointing" game then bring on the next one. :)
I seen a lot of complains about the English version of this game, I saw mort video on the game and I guess the devs recommend you play it in Russian with the sub turned on. I would assume a lot of games are better in the language they where made in. I'll have to check it out for myself, I don't know why I find the concept of the game so fascinating. Reminds me a lot of sovietwave, the music.
Oh no... This was definitely not the news I wanted to hear. Like Callisto Protocol, this was a game I had been waiting on for years and it had been hell watching it pop up once a year to remind you that it existed and was being worked on only to disappear back into the shadows. Then, this past year, it finally started getting release trailers and I got a little excited. I haven't even watched the review yet, but lord, this was one of the games I REALLY wanted to see pull through.
I have been waiting for this because there hasn't been any word of a Bioshock game since, the disaster that is Infinite. Oh well, least Dead Space Remake came out, and I guess ball's now on System Shock remake's court.
I was never a huge Bioshock fan but I definitely understand the love it gets. I think it should have taken more elements from it because Bioshock has solid gameplay and from what I've seen in the review so far the biggest issue is that the gameplay ranges from unengaging to frustrating. I had much higher hopes for it because I AM a fan of gritty RPG's like Prey Fallout, etc. I really just wanted them to knock this out of the park but given the development hell it went through I may have had my hopes too high. Here's hoping for System Shock. The Demo looked good and they already have a solid game to take from so the chances of them screwing that up are lower. Funny how some of the best experiences right now are older games being reworked for modern hardware.
@@Impalingthorn If they have things to take from Bioshock, first off that shitty first person jitterness has to go. There's a reason why the guns in those type of series have weighty feel to them and you don't get thrown around like a ragdoll by the recoil or when taking damage. Next is, that melee is atrocious, you can play the entirety of Bioshock with a wrench but you need to earn that power. Another is, there's a reason why ADAM or MP system is used for power devices, it works for most RPGs and is very user friendly. Metroid Prime remastered just came out and it's also another example how to do first person fast paced combat. I really fail to see how did they fuck up so bad. Not even Far Cry is this clunky and certainly not Crysis.

“Evil robots and monsters ! What does this game want to be “ bro I’m sorry but this review kind of sucks . Having played the game I feel like your exaggerating it’s issues so much. And the mix of organics and robots make it fun
People please give this game a try.! Everyone has a different take on it and many reviewer‘s and players including myself absolutely love this game and feel the uniqueness despite its flaws. I promise most of you will still enjoy it very much
The slander for this game is crazy. It’s genuinely not that bad idk maybe cause I ain’t buy it game pass a w fr. The combat is wonky but enjoyable the whole game is wonky but it’s fun. Everyone made it out to be a little bit more than what it was, super ambitious game did they make an ambitious game yes does it work all the time no but it’s fun and “new” for what we’ve gotten these past few years
I didn’t find most of the complaints in this video bother me. FOV slider can be fixed by dragging a file into the paks folder. Sticking can be fixed by smashing movement, jump and dash to unstuck just like every other game. The game runs smoothly for such a graphically good game. The protagonist isn’t designed good but he isn’t designed badly. The dialogue is supposed to show the character’s personality and you’re missing out the story. I find combat fun as movement is not bad as you mentioned in your video. You can Dodge every attack as a reward for good reflexes. The whole point of combat is learning the enemies and yourself to exploit them. You do need to find a specific resource when you want for example thermal scope on your AK. There’s three difficulty option in the release version: journalists, easy and normal. This isn’t a competitive multiplayer game. You don’t need to equip the most op abilities. It’s up to the players preference. Shield and melee is fun with the remote double blade.
I'm positive the low FOV issue with be fixed with mod support. That's not a worry for me, at all. The issue with the resolution could also be a mod fix if you're really that picky, though, I doubt most people care enough to complain about a small issue such as that. Most issues you've described here all sound like issues that can either be QOL mods, or patches later on. Given time, those two things will be implemented, so I'm happy to say I'll be playing this when it gets polished up!
Man Eastern Studios like russia have such good art direction etc. the devs are always sooo ambitious, but they have always so many technical problems, Tarkov ,Atomic Heart etc.
...maybe. But imo, some of the greatest games of all time come out of the old Eastern Bloc. Metro Last Light, Exodus and Stalker are probably my three favorite games ever.
@@creampielover69 Tarkov isn't even a game yet. At best a proof of concept and a tech demo. It's a cycle of grind, poorly thought-out updates and changes, Nikita sniffing his farts and listening to batshit crazy streamers. A game is supposed to have a somewhat coherent tutorial, balance, matchmaking, content, elements that reward players with different playstyles. EFT is an overbloated showcase with tiny details included, but missing a huge chunk of what would otherwise make it a proper game. It's a miracle that it even took off, considering that the dev team was very amateurish and consisted mostly of gun-nuts and ultranationalist creeps. I am really pissed that such a good project is dying in the hands of devs with unrealistic expectations.
Reminder that Boris Bretcha also made a lot of the OST for this game. That name probably doesn't mean anything to anyone not into techno or darkpsy. But holy shit do his tracks in this game slap.

@@fenison4430 I think that might be a translation issue, because in Russian the dialogue is kinda fun and memey but nigh impossible to translate in English.
This game really highlights how unsustainable the AAA industry is. Not only is this game 70 bucks, but it’s also 90 GB download plus patches. It takes a minute to load into the game and then it’s 30 minutes minimum of cinematic bullshit before the game even starts. Meanwhile Dusk or Cultic or any other retro shooters in under or around a gigabyte and takes 10 seconds to get you to the actual gameplay. No wonder why more of us passionate gamers walks away from AAA gamer.
I'll never understand why people don't like this game. There's so much cool stuff in it and the combat, graphics gameplay, characters, music and even the story was very interesting
you're running in between tight spots, of course you're gonna get stuck. this happens in every game & in real life. I had 1 glitch and the game did crash on me one time so far but I still enjoy the gameplay. however this is our own opinion on the game and i think everyone should try it out before taking the word of a random review
I just skipped through the video, listening to some points, dont want to have too much spoiled. If i watched this a few months ago i would probably think the game would be bad, because its easy and you are op. But i recently played Saints Row 4 and it was one of the most fun games i have ever played, even though it was piss easy and i (unknowingly) used op dlc weapons. I even played on lower difficulties because on hard i would have to seek cover and preserve my health and stuff like that, on lower difficulties i could run around switching weapons doing finishers, using powers, almost DOOM level fun. I love everything about Atomic Heart so far, i only have to experience gameplay for myself to see if its a game of all time.
Although several things annoyed me, I did enjoy the game, and the visuals of course. Also, I gave them a discount since it's their first game ever. Btw, the fov is fixed now, you can ajust it.
"disappointment" I played through the game and is was great. Sure it gets a little repetitive here and there but if you play around with the plasmids its gets fun. OVerall the vibes and game over all is not bad or a disappointment its like a third bioshock.
A lot of people citing "this is their first game so don't overhype your expectations" but the biggest flaw it has is literally core gameplay lol. That's like the most basic expectation. To me, Atomic Heart feels like a game that *looks* triple-AAA but plays like something on the cusp of B-games. Think Chernobylite and colpare them. Same focus on visual fidelity but with some sacifices in core gameplay loop. I think like a lot of other people: They probably got overambitious with a few factors (open world, visuals, animations, extra easter egg stuff) and it took away time they could have used to spend more on core gameplay and UI stuff. I wonder whether Mundfish REALLY is all that small though. They clearly had budget to pull something like this off. The way we define indie has heavily chabged over the years too. Some people even call Cheenobylite and indie studio but they released multiple games and have enough investments to scan Pripyat thoroughly.
Did you ever check out it's first DLC Annihilation Instinct? It's way more combat focused and your only abilities arent completely broken. There are also 2 new enemy types and 2 new weapons.
@@NurembergSwampWater i understand it can be frustrating, and some maps may spawn them continuously, but i always looked at the good side, free parts for upgrades :D
there is a way to make yourself invincible you get an adrenaline capsule and you get double dash with no damage after dashing and for the boss fights you take a bunch of adrenaline capsules and you just dash around and you can kill everything without taking any damage
Yeah - I think if you are a gameplay orientated person then this game will have some pitfalls. As a composer, I'm always looking at the overall vibe so it ticks a lotta boxes.
Ngl I think bioshock 1 is better for that. It has more of a committed identity, creative bosses, and really good writing. It just seems weird for it to have open world elements and the plot always feels like it's just barely getting started. The gameplay also just looks incredibly clunky. If you want a game with a good vibe just play eastshade. I was initially gonna buy this game only to support Mick Gordon since he was let go from Doom Eternal, but idk his sound track wasn't able to shine here.
@@underthemayo oh right, you needed a remake of an already perfect game to counterbalance hating almost everything new that isn't 2D or doom eternalized

I had accidentally started the game by only focusing on adding up on p3s stats, so I only had shok at it's base level and my weapons, if they had held off on giving you the better polymers until late game you really struggle to hold yourself in combat and you have to play skillfully and it made the game alot more fun even if it was a bit stressful at times.
You say it is easy, but I just saw a man struggling to play this game in medium difficulty and screaming how hard the game is. It is in the end all from perspective
Lazy, incompetent, greedy or all three? The standard needs to be raised severely, and lackluster products that are slapped together need to stop being made... Except that these mediocre developers will continue to keep making crap games(yes it's still crap regardless of the candy wrapper it's hidden in) as long as we keep buying it.

I mean they need to, considering this is their FIRST game. If they didn't do that, they might as well sell the company.
Yeah, if I see a good looking cinematic game I usually take it as a gameplay red flag.

I really enjoyed the game, I found it odd that there were a few areas that weren't even touched in the campaign, but my biggest issue was that there wasn't more content. The story felt so short, 27 hours in and I'm already 1/4th the way through a second campaign on hard, and I loved the content that was there, just wish there was more.
this game feels like the animator and the concept artists collabed perfectly so they can fire their level designer

If yer gonna charge $70 for your game, I’m not gonna excuse anything because “it’s my first game” 😢
@@budgreen4040 if you don’t think it’s worth 70 then don’t buy it 🤷
Only objective way we can judge whether a game is worth the asking price is by content and playability.
Everyone else: this is a really disappointing AAA game
Me: this is a really impressive single A game
Not sure why anyone expected an obscure Russian game from an unproven 20-man studio to be polished or anything more than just 'pretty interesting' and 'a good try'.
Tbh it is actually more polished than most AAA games and works better on a technical level, but that and its cool graphics and art design are the only things it has going for it. Gameplay is just okay and it feels like someone tried to make a Soviet Bioshock Infinite but forgot to make good dialogue.
You pointing out the FOV made me realise that I just automatically set the FOV to the highest setting
I honestly had so much fun with the game I just felt like it could have been a little longer and a little more challenging.
While it's possible for them to do better, I think that with a few tweaks the game can be improved significantly
Real quick thing I want to add, I am aware and appreciate that Mayo is very honest and straightforward with his opinions and states his experiences and frustrations exactly as they happened. It is very admirable to have that level of honesty, especially in a medium like reviewing art. The goal of this comment was just to perhaps bring something to Mayo's attention that he may not have considered.
Thats why criticisms is important.
How they can do better If they don't know the negatives ?

3) Mods don't count against criticism, this isn't a PC exclusive game.

I hope so, anyway. I’ve had it preordered for a long time and have been hearing about it for even longer, I don’t trust release dates for it anymore.
Never understood the lack of FOV sliders. If your game is so badly optimized that you need 50 FOV on a FPS, then thats on the devs.
Tarkov doesn't have technical problems, Tarkov IS the technical problem.
1:35 they've really used a submarine with nuclear missles as a holiday decoration, wtf?
Man said telekinesis ain't powerful 😂😂
Yeah like I walk into a room and the enemies are dead in under seconds what's that a group of 5 hahah 5seconds a group of 10 5 seconds you get the point right
Cue me being surrounded by about 20 enemies and absolutely obliterating them with the Telekinesis slam.
@@Mohgenstein
That slam never gets old, either. Especially when you get the upgrade to lift bigger enemies
"So, let me get this straight. I’m somewhere that’s not what I would call the Soviet Union… I’m seeing freaking robots, and… oh yeah, I’m talking to a glove!"
I still can't believe an adult human being wrote this and thought it was a good idea to put it in their game as dialogue, how do you even do that.
@@fenison4430 Bonus points: Forespoken INSTANTLY obliterated by Hi-fi Rush :V
@@fenison4430 I think that might be a translation issue, because in Russian the dialogue is kinda fun and memey but nigh impossible to translate in English.
@@fenison4430 Tbf it sounds like what a dad would say sarcastically.
@Chromatic Storm I was planning on playing the game in russian anyways, couldn't do it with the jumbled lip synchinh
Yes, thank you!
It's just his opinion. Of course you can enjoy it.
@@gebist8396 yeah of course
You spend half the game in bunkers doing repetitive puzzles
you're running in between tight spots, of course you're gonna get stuck. this happens in every game & in real life. I had 1 glitch and the game did crash on me one time so far but I still enjoy the gameplay. however this is our own opinion on the game and i think everyone should try it out before taking the word of a random review
"Getting stuck on stairs is realistic." That's a new one for me, thank you.
@@underthemayo you came up with that your own self. Don’t be putting words into my mouth but you’re welcome
I reckon Mayo plays too many games and it's become difficult to actually enjoy games unless they're reaaaallly specific to his wants
Most games i just think are fine. It takes something that fails a lot for me to be like this.
I'm just curious but the review guide did mention that it is intended to be played in Russian, did you try it with its natural voice acting?
Did you ever check out it's first DLC Annihilation Instinct? It's way more combat focused and your only abilities arent completely broken. There are also 2 new enemy types and 2 new weapons.
I didn't and I don't plan on going back, but I'm glad the fans got expansions to the game. Tell me the new enemies don't have mustaches!
Now knowing that I can destroy things and they stay dead it makes me want to keep playing it.
skill issue
what are you talking about? the repair bots are limited, destroy them and everything stays dead
@@MikeBike360TM I thought they kept spawning which made me not want to play the game.
@@NurembergSwampWater i understand it can be frustrating, and some maps may spawn them continuously, but i always looked at the good side, free parts for upgrades :D
@@MikeBike360TM alright thank you
there is a way to make yourself invincible you get an adrenaline capsule and you get double dash with no damage after dashing and for the boss fights you take a bunch of adrenaline capsules and you just dash around and you can kill everything without taking any damage
Those saw blade bots are a DIRECT ripoff from that cyberpunk game Hard Reset
Game comes out, mayo hates it. Ahhh the fresh smell of predictability.

Dude have u seen Forspoken?
The game is a first game from an unheard company. The gameplay can ve fixed over time. The creative idea and good story writing n effort is good stuff that is foundation for a game dev company
No, I haven't.
The dialogue and writing is bad on the same level of Forspoken. The art design is really good though.
I'm having a ton of fun with the game so far, but I can see why some aren't
the fov slider is especially bad if you have ultrawide monitor, it's more like 60-70 fov which is literally unplayable
Oh god I can't imagine.
Not perfect not disappointing at all
Lazy, incompetent, greedy or all three? The standard needs to be raised severely, and lackluster products that are slapped together need to stop being made... Except that these mediocre developers will continue to keep making crap games(yes it's still crap regardless of the candy wrapper it's hidden in) as long as we keep buying it.
Ой, думер хотел Atomic Heart в виде Doom Eternal, а получил Bioshock Infinite с примесью Prey! Вау, как же досада:3 (Нет) Игра вышла охуенная, было ожидание факапа, но все опасения не подтвердились.
Hey buddy. I compared it to prey 11 times. This has nothing to do with Doom.
Please someone tell me the dialogue between P3 & "Glove" isn't as cringe as the dialogue in Forspoken between Frey & "Cuff"
0kay I won't, but it is.
I guess I'll watch this after beating it. I wasn't expecting a spoiler review before the game even game out.
there aren't really any spoilers to the story
There’s literally no spoilers dingbat.
I may pick this up after a major price drop. Unfortunately, game prices don't go down like they used to, many games now never drop the full priced price tag.

It literally isn't.

Bioshock Infinite looks gorgeous and is perfect blend of open world / linear.

Bioshock infinite isn't as open world imo, just more linear.
That's funny, because Bioshock Infinite's levels are more linear than Fort Frolic
