I am going to release an updated build where I go over the attributed and armor perks soon. Currently working on putting it all together! I recommend stacking shirking heals and health, then get the "ankh" amulet from PvP track for increased heals from the shirking heals.

Been running a similar build but i use trip (without upgrade) instead of vortex. The stagger from arcane smite into trip into shrapnel blast is nasty! Nice vid!
1. Pestilence is tied for the strongest artifact along with the Abyss. People are sleeping on how ridiculous it is. 2. This build is only possible because the Shield is counted as an armor artifact for some reason. I actually think this is a mistake, since shields use Weapon Matrix and count as weapons in every other instance. (And yeah, you mention this. I just think it must be fixed. Same for that cleanse bug.) 3. Still, FL/BB might be really strong even without Michael.
Totally agree with you! The main reason why I think shields no longer will count as weapons is because on PTR no shields have any attributes anymore and instead the swords have full attributes instead of half. So I think it is intended.
@@jiggyspice6809 I feel that the way that they have balanced the Shields points to them being weapons. I mean, the power level of some of these perks are wild and gameplay defining. Most armor perks just double up on an existing armor perk. It will be even more clear when the artifact round shield comes out. This is beside the fact that they use Weapon Matrix, are sorted into the weapon section of your inventory, and use weapon labels. Lol.

Brute build is my next step though 💪 I know a few people who run it already and they are absolutely unstoppable. One guy in particular on my server can tank like 10 people at once and still be hard to take down

It's probably not going to be the best build for dps in dungeons unfortunately. It's not bad but there are definitely other builds that would be better for pve.
So i haven't played NW in a long time and have not maxed or played BB and Flail so this would be a nice way to return to the game. Artifact weapons, never even heard of that. That said, this build looks more like the artifact shield is busted (and is about to be fixed or something?), no? Also wondering if Focus builds would work with flail/life staff now

this is a pretty cool build! I'm divided between using Michael or The Wall. I've seen a dude in heavy with The Wall and Odo, just face tanking every duel. I might try to farm both items tbh
Yeah it depends on your playstyle. For me I would never use the wall personally since dodging is disabled when u have that shield equippped. So you will never be able to kill anyone ever, they can just dodge you forever and you can't chase them at all. It might be good for tanking on points in OPR or something but for the most part you will just be a big chunky target dummy that nobody wants to fight. But anyone can literally just walk past you and not care about you at all when u have that shield equipped. Kinda like the brute in OPR, nobody really cares about it, just dodge its attacks and ignore it. So for me I want to kill people, not just survive. That's why I would just never run the wall. It's more of a PvE tank shield in my opinion. Maybe its good in wars though, I'm not sure.
@@jiggyspice6809 that's a fair point. I guess the wall works in duels because your enemy have to eventually deal with you and can't really escape. But yeah, for point tanks full con and pve it could be interesting

Great video! Whats your thoughts on heavy vs medium on the ptr? Would it be worth running heavy for the damage mitigation since they buffed the dodge or is it negligible compared to medium?
@@Healthiswealth78392 Yes the dodge buff makes a huge difference. This build will still be good in heavy, especially for clump fighting. You still deal high damage with a BB in heavy armor, so definitely viable. I will run medium though since I need to be able to chase down ranged light armor players for my prefered playstyle.
i wonder if rapier musket trapper or musket VG build would counter this build in 1v1, i have seen insane burst damage from those but i dont know if weakend defense would be enough to drain shield stam
No this build is hard counter to both of those builds you mentioned. They cannot touch you with this build. Rapier/musket/vg is by far the easiest enemy to beat for this bb/flail build.
hey bro, id like to know if you think the flail could be paired with a strength melee weapon, like the hammer, to make a 'bruiser' type build that could be useful in a dive group, to buff party, debuff enemy players, and also do decent damage? id like flail to be main and i was thinking hammer for stuns and cc as secondary
Maybe, I felt that overall the flail is kinda weak as a main weapon. The lights and heavys have short range and kind of bad tracking, I didn't feel like it was super viable as your main dps weapon, but perhaps in a dive group that's totally different. Most of my testing was based on solo play. The flail is super good in war though, and I think it will have a position in dive groups for sure. It can remove CC's for teammates, has insane buffs and debuffs. Yeah flail will be making a huge difference in the war metas
I haven't figured out the best perk combination yet. You will run 5x medium pieces with a kite shield to stay as medium equip load though. Then 5x Health perk and 5x shirking heal I think will be the best. As for the third perks I am still undecided, maybe refreshing. you want to get exhaustive net shot perk on one of the armor pieces though since that one is really strong. I will make an updated guide after the expansion hits where i include full attribute spread, the full gear loadout and which heartrune is best.

Playing flail as an int build could work, you mostly use flail as a secondary weapon for its utility from the abilities and then another weapon as your main damage weapon. Not sure what the best combo would be. Sounds interesting though, I might try it eventually.
also i wonder, if you can play flail + blunderbuss as a light build, because you can actually now have a round shield + all light armor, and still be light weight.. BUT iam kinda new, i dont know if people play "melee" without medium or heavy armor, but in theorie, i think it could be very very fun to play flail and bb as a light weight build .. im just not in endgame to test it
No I'm sorry I didn't include it which I should have. The attribute split was 410 str and 200 con. But you can also run 310 str, 50 focus, 50 int, 200 con which I think is a bit better
@@Acanis87 You already have so much anti heal its not needed. Netshot perk is absurdly overpowered. Reducing stamina regen by 60% for 8 seconds is crazy. Or even if you have it on armor, reducing it by 37% is still so good.

So I chose to not include gear in this guide since I am still experimenting with the actual gear loadout. I would say at least the "health" perk is essential on every armor piece, it's going to result in even higher self healing from the michael shield as well. As for the gear I used in this video, it was all random strength gear. Not a single piece has good perks on it. I am running 5/5 medium pieces though, that way you can stay medium with a kite shield. I will make an updated version after the expansion launches which will include gear, gems and jewelry as well as insights into which heartrune compliments this build the best, of which there are a few different options.

its so sad that this game was released without 3v3 arenas and the pvp rewards initially. im conviced that if it did a ton of people would still be playing it

For this I was running 410 str and 200 con. But I am going to keep experimenting a bit with the attributes. Running 50 focus is also interesting. I didn't cover the gear and attributes in this build yet since I need to experiment more with perks and attributes. I will release an updated build with gear and perks after the expansion is released.

Where you go 50STR 200 FOC 350con (and any remaining point go into more STR) and pair it with the VG . Making the support role in war rosters become a solid role . Ticking point supporting your team taking maximum duration and potency on the healing / duration of cc immunity . Protection your team in by applying a shitton of weaken . Very solid meta build in s3 I think , the flail.

It's probably not going to be the best dps build for PvE to be honest. But it's not bad. But you'd be better of choosing a different weapon than flail as a dps in PvE.
Yea, really balanced for AGS since they only want melee to be viable. I wish I enjoyed melee fights, but I can woth that autofollow+autoaim. Feels like spamming left click

It isn't the best raw healing weapon, but as a support weapon it is incredible.The utility this weapon delivers to teammates in a focus build is absolutely nuts. The fact you can buff your teammates and save them from CC is super strong! Flail will be a high skill weapon when used as a support role, but extremely powerful when utilized correctly.
It's actually what life staff needed, been playing with flail life staff and when your buddies are topped up, now you can support your team with decent DMG, buffs and cc , don't see why people complain lol.
It's usually the case with new weapons. Will be fun to see what changes AGS makes to the flail as well as the artifacts before the release of the expansion, if any.
holding right click is way too ez to delete the debuffs i think they should modify it, either like making it conditional trying to make player block in the perfect time window (maybe 0.25s?)or adding a cd of 30s@@jiggyspice6809
I agree, tank builds aren't really fun. I definitely would not classify this as a tank build though. You can only take 2 heavy hits before getting stamina broken. The best way to counter true tank builds is to run dot heavy builds that can still apply damage through shields or while they block. Turtle builds are definitely very boring and I totally agree with you on that, but like it or hate it. S3 will be a shield meta without question. though I think we will see more kite shields than tower shields.

Heavy is super good in S3 and definitely viable. We will be seeing a lot of heavy builds. And I will also run heavy in some builds.

Shields are bugged. Confirmed they should be weapon, not armor. So sadly this won't ve possible once they fix it for launch

It's probably not going to be the best dps build for PvE to be honest. But it's not bad. But you'd be better of choosing a different weapon than flail as a dps in PvE.
Yea, really balanced for AGS since they only want melee to be viable. I wish I enjoyed melee fights, but I can woth that autofollow+autoaim. Feels like spamming left click
I hear you. There are still a lot of super strong ranged builds. But shield meta will be annoying for ranged players for sure

Sorry I did not include them in the video since I was still unsure about it. PTR testing was so inconsistent because of peoples random gear there so I didnt want to release misleading information. Check the pinned comment for my attributes in the video.
I'm releasing an updated video soon, I just need to get the shield in pvp track and im good to go, I got the BB already and I got most of the gear I need as well, so as soon as I have it together and field tested I will release a followup video.

Not so good heal weapon....flail we still have just life staff...😢
It isn't the best raw healing weapon, but as a support weapon it is incredible.The utility this weapon delivers to teammates in a focus build is absolutely nuts. The fact you can buff your teammates and save them from CC is super strong! Flail will be a high skill weapon when used as a support role, but extremely powerful when utilized correctly.
It's actually what life staff needed, been playing with flail life staff and when your buddies are topped up, now you can support your team with decent DMG, buffs and cc , don't see why people complain lol.
this weapon should not add to the game at all , its pure unfair to deal with it
It's usually the case with new weapons. Will be fun to see what changes AGS makes to the flail as well as the artifacts before the release of the expansion, if any.
holding right click is way too ez to delete the debuffs i think they should modify it, either like making it conditional trying to make player block in the perfect time window (maybe 0.25s?)or adding a cd of 30s@@jiggyspice6809

Tank builds have been ruining the game in the current meta enough as it is. Arena is just about being a turtle and outlasting the other team
I agree, tank builds aren't really fun. I definitely would not classify this as a tank build though. You can only take 2 heavy hits before getting stamina broken. The best way to counter true tank builds is to run dot heavy builds that can still apply damage through shields or while they block. Turtle builds are definitely very boring and I totally agree with you on that, but like it or hate it. S3 will be a shield meta without question. though I think we will see more kite shields than tower shields.
Why should you be able to 1v1 a tank easily if a tank can’t 1v1 you? Sounds balanced to me

410 str 200 con. But you can run 310 str, 50 focus, 50 int, 200 con as well and I think thats a bit better.

In the video I was running 410 str 200 con. But later I tried 310 str, 50 focus, 50 int 200 con and I liked that a bit better.
