Thanks for coming back, Islander. A lot of the guys doing boxing commentating now are about the same age as me (you, Max Kellerman, Gabriel Montoya, Dan Rafael, etc.) and it is good to hear from guys that have the same frame of reference time-wise when talking boxing.
Always good analysis. Don`t worry about taking so long. Only post vids if you`re into it. Otherwise you`re just doing it for other reasons. I`ll be waiting for the next one.
Damn I just saw the vid. Good stuff as always islander...good to have you back. I also always thought that mayweather would just outclass pacquiao but I'm no longer sure after mayweathers performance against maidana.
Hey Stork. Thought you retired man.. Glad you didnt. Welcome back sir. Totally agree about youtubes silly games. I just had to update my account to comment on your video, changed the whole setup once I did that. PAIN.. PAEACE my friend.
Glad to see you back islander . I like ufc and boxing but you're right ufc are making the fights people wanna see. Top rank golden boy and etc have to hurry and make good fights cause the window are closing for boxing and when may pac and etc retires boxing will need new big names .let see what happen . Again ...glad youre back man!
Oh and great to see you back! The whole predictability thing you said about boxing I have that with MMA, I've watched a lot of MMA and can mostly predict whats going to happen, all this holding that Khan did really wasn't needed at all but I think it's apart of his game he looked good and I was semi impressed. I had Floyd winning by 2 round and the 117-111 WTF.
glad you are back islander. Keep the video's coming. Bob Arum like all the others seem to be ruining the sport. These round robin like fights he is setting up with pacman, bradley, marquez are ridiculous. I dont know if you watched the 1st froch vs groves fight? and will you be doing a video for the 2nd one.
Hey Islander would like to get your opinion on a couple of Classic fights Brian Mitchell vs Samuel Serrano, Virgil Hill vs Prince Charles Williams, Eder Jofre vs Ernesto Marcel, Dwight Qawi vs Eddie Gregory
Thing about ufc that makes it much more exciting is the buildup of fighters from smallest to the top guys they all have a story and ufc lets it be shown.
PS Nothing I enjoy more than listening to someone who really knows their shit express it well on a topic I like. And yeah, there's more interest in UFC for because it's well organized. And as much as we've never seen someone die in a UFC fight as in boxing, I wonder if you have any thoughts on the types of injuries sustained in UFC vs. boxing.
Hope all is well n fine, n wishing u best of health n wealth. Time for u to drop a vid, anticipating to hear your thoughts on the coming mega fight this saturday, as well as your views in general about boxing these past months.
Maidana also exceeded my expectations but i was partially right in the preview when i commented that i felt maidana lacked the stamina to pressure mayweather every minute of every round. He was successful in spurts.
Pretty sure the gloves were 8 oz though don't know for sure. The issue I heard about was the type of gloves maidana was wearing vs the ones he wanted to wear.
I've noticed Maidana does very well against just about anyone as long as they don't have the legs to stay outside all night long. He's a brawler but a very intelligent brawler when he wants to be. As far as slippage goes I've noticed these older talented guys will put in one of their career best performances and then show slippage in the next one. Another example would be Calzaghe looking great against Kessler and then looking like crap against Hopkins. I am curious to see if Khan's speed and length can bother Floyd at all. Especially if the fight keeps getting postponed as Floyd will just get older and Khan can still get stronger at 147 and he still has room to improve under Virgil Hunter.
I think Richard Schaefer and Al Heymon are going to be leaving Oscar with all the boxers Heymon has signed and Oscar is making sure he can still get match ups for Canelo and whoever else Oscar actually has signed.
Nice to see you back boxinginfo al haymon is trying to monopolize the sport thats why he's singning fighters left and right it looks like they're preparing to abandon ship and set their own shop ive heard that most of haymon fighters dont have contracs with GBP now we know why, if that happens oscars biggest accet is canelo. If haymon takes over it will be bad because fighters will be forced to sing a contract in order to fight his fighter and probably end up with a shity deal kinda like wat don king used to do......
The Golden boy feud is real, Oscars back but he seems kinda loopy, at his press conference he did not seem right at all but only time will tell. Oscar wants to do business with Arum and Schaffer doesn't want anything with that and as a fight fan I'm all for Golden Boy and Top Rank fighters going at it. I have a feeling that Schaffer has been pushing out Oscar and he wants control back. Anyway if they get all this BS sorted and we can get a Manny vs a top Golden boy fighter than there is big money to be made and it's all about the money at the end of the day.
A defence first boxer like mayweather will always have trouble against a fighter who applies constant pressure regardless of speed. A boxer like floyd needs time and space to read and react, constant pressure and activity counteracts that every time. This explains why castillo and maidana, who are not super athletic or quick, are able to give mayweather more problems than a someone like mosley or canelo. Maybe there's a reason why floyd avoided margarito after all!
Not sure I agree with the Margarito statement. Not that Floyd wouldn't have had trouble but not the kind that Maidana gave him. Marg was tough and relentless but there was something kind of conventional about his approach which Floyd would have taken advantage of. Maidana is crazy like a fox and Floyd had a hard time reading him.
Daniel .Turin Margarito i feel would have given floyd as much if not more trouble than maidana. Margarito had more stamina and activity than maidana. Margarito would just press the action all night long. The reason why maidana lost was because he couldnt keep up the same pace for the full 12 rounds.
arnold wayne Your right about Margs stamina but I think he was more predictable. Part of Maidana's and Castillo's success was they were awkwardly clever.
activity and volume punching is the key. Floyd can slip or roll one or two punches at a time, he cannot however do it against an incessant attack. Castillo wasn't as akward as you remember. His constant pressure and cutting the ring off gave him success. Margarito would have been a nightmare for floyd as he would not have respected mayweathers offense and would have walked right through it. Cotto threw everything he had including the kitchen sink and he could not halt margarito's pressure.
Eh. Robert Duran in his prime would be a nightmare for Floyd. I don't think activity and volume alone is going swamp Floyd and that's about all Marg would have going for him. His own condition was very good as well and he'd place his punches much more wisely and effectively than Cotto ever did. (I can't believe I'm defending Floyd. I'm not even a fan of his. :P)
Dont know if your reading this islander, but i have a retrospect analysis after watching the second maidana fight that this whole thing may have been a ploy by mayweather. Call me crazy, but i found it strange how in the second fight mayweather easily controlled maidana with the clinch and i asked myself after the match, Why didnt mayweather do that in the first fight? It almost seems, at least to me, that Fmj was deliberately making the first match more interesting than it should have been. There were moments in the first fight where mayweather was just allowing maidana to tee off on the ropes while he just covered up; giving the illusion of a more competitive fight. Then again, i might be reading too much into this- i would like to see what your thoughts on this are.
arnold wayne It's possible. It also may have just been that Mayweather legitimately did not expect Maidana to come out and set that fighting pace the way he did in the first fight, and so was then thrown off by it. You also had Maidana come out with a much slower pace in the second fight which may have been much more easier for Mayweather to deal with. Hopefully Islander makes that long awaited vid soon to hear his thoughts on it.
welcome back bro one of the kings has return

WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, please come back. You're the best youtube channel on here. The rest of the people on here are bias and have agendas. We miss your commentary.
thanks for the insight, good points
Hey Islander would like to get your opinion on a couple of Classic fights Brian Mitchell vs Samuel Serrano, Virgil Hill vs Prince Charles Williams, Eder Jofre vs Ernesto Marcel, Dwight Qawi vs Eddie Gregory
Not into UFC. What do you think of the matches being made in the UK
Thing about ufc that makes it much more exciting is the buildup of fighters from smallest to the top guys they all have a story and ufc lets it be shown.

I had Maidana by 2 rounds but none the less great fight and great commentary here I subscribed
Maybe you could do a Froch groves II preview islander?
Hope all is well n fine, n wishing u best of health n wealth.
Time for u to drop a vid, anticipating to hear your thoughts on the coming mega fight this saturday, as well as your views in general about boxing these past months.
Glad to hear you call out Paulie. What was he talking about, he's always very biased against Pacquiao.
Maidana also exceeded my expectations but i was partially right in the preview when i commented that i felt maidana lacked the stamina to pressure mayweather every minute of every round. He was successful in spurts.
Good video. I had it 8-4 Floyd, but I can see 7-5 because there were some very close rounds. Tough competitive fight but the right man won.
This is what im talking about, The islander back in action!!!!!!
Pretty sure the gloves were 8 oz though don't know for sure. The issue I heard about was the type of gloves maidana was wearing vs the ones he wanted to wear.

hey brother pls make a video for pacquiao mayweather!
I think Richard Schaefer and Al Heymon are going to be leaving Oscar with all the boxers Heymon has signed and Oscar is making sure he can still get match ups for Canelo and whoever else Oscar actually has signed.
You got a following here

Styles make fights though, as badly as canelo performed against mayweather, i think he would pick a fighter like maidana apart!
A defence first boxer like mayweather will always have trouble against a fighter who applies constant pressure regardless of speed. No one scores even rounds anymore. Weird
That was a pleasant surprise!!
