Darren is an absolute legend and such an understated craftsman. You'll struggle to find him online, but he's out there working day in, day out, preserving our woodlands and creating amazing things. I'm proud to have learnt from him and to call him a friend.
i love primitive construction but not cutting 200 year old oaks.... there are other woods that can be used or other ways we can replicate primitive buildings. Oaks should be considered sacred because of their benefits to the land.... old oaks are necessary to preserve forests, allow rain water to drain in the land and fill up the natural water reserves, prevent erosion of the land and produce food and shelter for a wide range of wild animals
@alanrtment porter. 200 YEAR OLD TREES. TREES HAVE DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS DEPENDING ON SPECIES, SIZE AND AGE. tHEY NOT ONLY PRODUCE OXIGEN THEY HAVE MANY MANY FUNCTIONS AND OLD TREES SHOULD BE SACRED FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO HEALTHY ECOSYSTEMS. It takes another 200 years for that tree to do the same function it was doing. IF YOU CUT ALL TREES OVER 100 YEARS IT DOESNT MATTER UF YOU PLANT DOUBLE NUMBER OF THEM CAUSE IT WILL TAKE ANOTHER 100 YEARS FOR THEM TO DO THE SAME FUNCTION, CAN YOU LIVE 100 YEARS WITHOUT WATER? not only clean drinking water, they help to fill underground water wells, without old trees there is no streams, no rivers, NO LIFE. All trees are important but if you knew anything about the importance of old trees to produce clean water, hold the ground together, shelter, and produce food for innumerable species you wouldn't say that. cut a 200-year-old tree to build a can that will be used for 50 years max is NOT sustainable. No matter how many excuses people use to carry on doing whatever we want to do. IN THE STATE THE EARTH AND ITS ECOSYSTEMS ARE WE CANT AFFORD TO DO THINGS WE DONT NEED ANYMORE if we have some respect for this planet. If you gonna use that cabin for 200+ then yes, it would be sustainable to cut that tree and plant a new one9if there was enough old trees left, which there arent). But we all know a cabin like that won't last 200 years, and even if it did it wnt be wanted, it is not needed.
trees need to be cut, no matter how angry you are that's just life and how it is, without cutting trees, human cant live. If you dint want to cut trees you need to cut human first, more human means more trees. so go kill a few millions human then trees will be save. that's the only way. If you live in a tropical climate where every peace of land is full of hundreds of years old trees how do you reckon people gonna live? Build their house on the trees? how are they gonna plant crops? Basically without cutting forest human will remain living in the stone age where we all live in a cave or a hole in the ground. If the ecosystem is doom then let it be doom because that is part of life, its not like we gonna care because we gonna be six feet under if that happen later. We might be dead first because of nuclear war before all that happen to be honest lol. @TheSavageWoman @@TheSavageApprentice
