    In one of the photos you identify an individual as Lee Krasner. I believe it is Helen Frankenthaler

    reading a great exhibition catalog by sf moma and bma curators that includes this among many other master works displayed in sf moma's travelling exhibition. i wish it could have stopped in ft. worth before going to paris

    Pre Landscape? Or Post Landscape? For sure her emotions were evoked by nature and landscape. I think of her as invoking nature without representing it.

    I swear to me, it looks like a back of a woman in the purple dress with black hair sitting in a chair reaching out doing something. With the looks of everything around her, she’s painting. Maybe it’s herself.

      I also see a figures and faces within this and other pieces by Joan Mitchell. The purple figure in this one reads to me as the back of a kneeling geisha :)
