It's funny cause in the english version, he turns and look at the camera and gives a thumbs up to the people that speak english as like saying "we know". Lol 🤣
@@silent_virgil The problem is that is a bad joke. It sounds good and interesting when told but when they shown the english versions it just felt "eh." The animation was badly done and the thumbs up gets covered by the subtitles. I know they tried to make a good joke I can understand that but it's a very poor joke.
@@DeskoDev still its another funny yakuza moment since i think one the yakuza games had a similar side quest to this which i think it was in either 4 or 5 if i remember lol
@@Baba-li6hc That would have been more cringe and borderline a mess. There is an extent to which localization can go too far and end up feeling separate from the original audio (any 4kids dub). I thought the joke was fine. I'm not sure you realize how game changing making the foreigner Japanese would have been. The first outcome would be that the scene makes no sense because a Japanese person is trying to ask directions like a fish out of Water in English to another Japanese speaking person in Japan. The other outcome is that it's just pointless because everyone understands each other anyway. The other outcome would be everyone in Japan speaks English and is secretly in the west and the foreigner is weird for speaking Japanese (that breaks the immersion, dubs work under the impression that we're all hearing our native language for simplicity, but they're all speaking the country's native language). It just doesn't make much sense and risks ruining the entire scenario (and changing the whole dubbed game) for one random joke.

I'd say something about people's ability to speak English, but, like, I just realized I'm from a Slavic country and have never been to any place where they speak English as the first language, so... How am I even communicating with you guys anyway?
I love this version better than the English version. He sounds annoying and trying to communicate slowly which comes off as annoying instead of funny and normal in the Japanese version.
Well if you remember, he first pointed straight ahead of him, meaning the direction he's facing, not the direction the foreigner is facing. And from the direction he's facing, the direction he pointed actually is right.

Just add a dark souls theme and a 3 health bars and you might be onto something.
Amon would be the scariest boss if he wore a monocle at the end
And the actiony font just says "LOST MAN, HEIR OF THE STATION CLAN"
they should make him a running joke in every game after this where he becomes homeless because he's stuck in the city and can't find the station.
