The thing I love most about him is that he is a good person. He was never the villain. All he wanted to do was protect his siblings and avenge his family. After the Sunshot campaign, he was hailed as a hero. But when he went against everyone else, and protected the INNOCENT Wen remnants, he was called a madman. Then he was used, and he lost everything he cared about and was blamed for everything bad. He was willing to let them KILL HIM in exchange for letting the Wens go, but they tried to kill him, and after he died, they made him into the villain, just because he looked the part of a monster. But he never actually did anything wrong.
I wouldn't say that WWX did nothing wrong. He is a good person, but he has made mistakes. He was extremely arrogant when he was young, overestimating his abilities, thinking that he could control everything. As it turned out, he couldn't and he paid for that.

In Nightless City, when he put the two halves of the Stygian tiger seal together and used it, he killed hundreds of cultivators, maimed some, created orphans and destroyed families. And he was the one who, after his shijie's death, decided to use that dangerous weapon, it wasn't imposed or forced on him, that was his choice, so, no matter the extenuating circumstances, a huge part of the responsibility for what happened there lies with him. What I like about the novel is that it doesn't paint WWX as an unblemished hero to be pitied for the hand he was dealt with, he's just a man who made mistakes, paid for them and he's now trying to atone for them and do better.

One can be an overall good person and still commit bad things and the reverse. Flawed characters make for interesting stories, which is why I also really like someone like Jiang Cheng and others.
To be honest Wei Ying tearing up his enemies was the best part of the anime for me. I absolutely love revenge scenes, especially when they are brutal with no mercy.

Awesome. The fans tend to forget how terrifying and disturbed Wei Ying is when he drops his smile. This scene is depicted quite well in the drama version but the anime version is 10x darker and more disturbing.
So do his detractors and enemies, just like in the donghua when everyone was talking shit after the death of Jin ZiXuan until the flames turn green and they heard a dizi, it's crickets then now isn't it. Wei Ying made himself a living, walking nightmare and most of the Cultivation World so readily forgot just how dangerous he is even without his army of Death. It's all fun and games until you piss him off...
I used to think that edgy Wei Wuxian using his demonic cultivation is the coolest thing there is... Until I learned that he didn't really have a choice since his golden core is you know... Not there 😭😭😭
It really hurts. wwx is physically stronger than anyone. he lost his whole 2nd family, he lost the respect he gained for years, he lost his golden core. the fact he gave jiang cheng his golden core hurts even more. he wanted to protect him so badly that he lost a chance to cultivate in a good way. he wasn't really keen on cultivating demonic techniques at first, but it was all he could do at the time. and he was hated because of that. people saw in him nothing but a monster who kills everyone around him. he thought he was all alone and thats the worst thing. he isnt 100% good nor 100% bad. yes, he did everything for his family which he lost in the end. he protected lots of innocent people. he just wanted to have a pure heart and help anyone who needed it. he had taht child thought which was about changing the world for better and better. he knew he couldn't rely on anyone anymore, but he tried to stay the same as he always was. what I really appreaciate in his character is his strong mental health. he is still living threw the horrible experiences and one death. *this is horrifying beautiful*

I seriously admire his mental and physical strength, bcs im sure not even LWJ would be able to endure that. This is also why i believe that wwx is the strongest in mdzs. Also loved how the series depicted his yiling patriarch era. Not only was he deliciously hot, he was also unapologetically dark and temperament. I think he deserves to act like the bad guy after all the shit he went thru (although we all know it was never his intention to BE the bad guy)
No fictional story has quite gripped me like this one. The anime/donghua ending was pure perfection. I've yet to read the book, I'm waiting for the spoilers in my head to fade so that I can immerse myself and enjoy it fully, but the damn story is so fresh in my head it haunts my random thoughts months after I last watched it...

When you actually read the lyrics and you understand what the singer means by this it becomes.....much,much darker. From what I’ve gathered it seems like the singers come from an abusive childhood and this is the energy from it. It makes an awesome amv nonetheless.

This AMV is so GOOD Honestly though? I now know why everyone said the novel was way worse because it WAS. This scene was chilling in the Donghua but I actually kinda started feeling sorry for Wen Chao (not really but you get what I mean). Wuxian was FUCKING scary. Man, whenever I see the death scene of Wen Chao in the donghua, I just think back to the novel; it was so much more gruesome and horrifying, lol. He had it easy here! For those who haven't read the novel, here's kinda how it goes: Instead of killing Wen Chao right then and there like here, he kinda lurks around and follows him for who knows how long: days, weeks... while Wen Zhuliu is trying drag Wen Chao to safety. But they can't get away from Wei Ying, he just keeps appearing and forces Wen Zhuliu to watch. Every time they meet, he tortures Wen Chao so badly, it was satisfying yet hard to read. xD Wen Chao gets each of his fingers (and toes, I believe) ripped off and fed to one of Wei Ying's corpse puppets (one being a small child, and one being a "blue-faced woman"). He gets scalped completely, then after scabs form on top of his head, they are ripped off yet again. All the meat (down to the bone) on both of his legs is sliced off and Wen Chao is forced to eat it all. I believe his uvula or part of his tongue was ripped out by Wang Lingjiao's corpse, they didn't specify, since his voice was depicted as "sharp" and he had trouble speaking. Also his lips were repeatedly torn off. Other than being half dead, he is scarred to the point of completely flipping out when he hears the wind whistling, thinking that Wei Ying has come for him again (He thinks a flute is playing). He WILL not touch meat, or any food for that matter. So yeah, fun! :D
Everything about this was amazing but the most intimidating part for me was when he crushed the golden cord like it wasn’t even there I dunno why but I liked that part the most

When you actually read the lyrics and you understand what the singer means by this it becomes.....much,much darker. From what I’ve gathered it seems like the singers come from an abusive childhood and this is the energy from it. It makes an awesome amv nonetheless.

Man, whenever I see the death scene of Wen Chao in the donghua, I just think back to the novel; it was so much more gruesome and horrifying, lol. He had it easy here!
For those who haven't read the novel, here's kinda how it goes:
Instead of killing Wen Chao right then and there like here, he kinda lurks around and follows him for who knows how long: days, weeks... while Wen Zhuliu is trying drag Wen Chao to safety. But they can't get away from Wei Ying, he just keeps appearing and forces Wen Zhuliu to watch. Every time they meet, he tortures Wen Chao so badly, it was satisfying yet hard to read. xD
Wen Chao gets each of his fingers (and toes, I believe) ripped off and fed to one of Wei Ying's corpse puppets (one being a small child, and one being a "blue-faced woman"). He gets scalped completely, then after scabs form on top of his head, they are ripped off yet again. All the meat (down to the bone) on both of his legs is sliced off and Wen Chao is forced to eat it all. I believe his uvula or part of his tongue was ripped out by Wang Lingjiao's corpse, they didn't specify, since his voice was depicted as "sharp" and he had trouble speaking. Also his lips were repeatedly torn off. Other than being half dead, he is scarred to the point of completely flipping out when he hears the wind whistling, thinking that Wei Ying has come for him again (He thinks a flute is playing). He WILL not touch meat, or any food for that matter. So yeah, fun! :D

@@serenackerman9318 The animation and story are really good, but the donghua is shounen-ai (which honestly doesn't bother me, but everyone has their own preferences) there is also the manhua (manga), novel and drama, all with the same name, except the drama that is called Untamed
