Just got back from there last monday, Sian Ka'an is a fantastic hotel. Just make sure you bring insect repellant. Bought a can from the Hacienda pharmacy and asked the room attendant if he can spray after he has finished cleaning!

Oh my I’m sooooo “ homesick”😁. We were there the end of November for probably our 11th time and you are spot on with your comment about the vibe and the staff! I’m so torn for our next trip as I’d like to give Akumal a try again....we were there in 2002. Can’t go wrong with either one, but I think we would miss the quieter feel. 👏🇨🇦
Having stayed at Akumal our last 2 trips (Sian Kaan was still closed in April 2021 and grandson with us last month) I can truthfully say Sian Kaan is the best if the 2 by far. Maybe after the upcoming renovations Akumal will improve.

can you use all the amenities at the other resorts on site? What time of year have you gone? Do they remove the seaweed? Have you ever gone in July? Why is it your favourite? What other resorts have you been to? Is there a coffee house on site?
Yes, Sian Kaan guests have full access to everything at all resorts. I have been all seasons. Seaweed is raked all day long when necessary. Yes As I said in the video, is is the perfect balance of all resort qualities. I’ve been to over 30 other resorts. There is a coffee house in the Akumal lobby.
As it happens, I arrive at my beloved Sian Ka’an again tomorrow afternoon. I was thinking about doing a video of the trip, showing a timer, beginning to end no cuts. What do you think!

It is actually just a bike tour and not much fun in the tropical heat & humidity I'd imagine. If you go to the complex you'll see that the roadways are sometimes busy with trollies, busses and delivery trucks.

I have a question about principe Akumal, We are going there in November for 2 weeks and was wondering, Will we be able to make 2 weeks worth of restaurant reservations or just a week at a time? And when u pick your room( staying in adult section) It will show you the adult section rooms ? Right? And you’ll know which ones your able to pick? Thanksgiving
The adult only rooms are a separate class with higher price. If you get the app to work 5 days before arrival those rooms will not be available if you didn’t pay that higher rate for them. You’ll be able to make reservations for your entire trip I believe.
Good morning. Without doubt the quietest rooms are in buildings 27, 28, 29 & 30. We’ve stayed in bldg 28 before. These rooms are at the Sushi Bar pool and the whole area is quit relaxing bliss.

Thanks for your great videos!😍👍🏻 I am about to book my trip (I would be leaving in a month) and I would like to know your opinion on the following: of the 4 Bahia Principe hotels in Cancun, is it really worth paying the difference for the Bahia Principe Luxury Sian Ka'un? I would be traveling alone with my father, so the quietness of the hotel is a good point, and I wouldn't mind taking the shuttle to the beach either, but lately I've read very bad comments about the rooms in poor condition. … or the possibility of taking 5 hours to get to the airport… (for me the quality of the food is important, as well as the service and the location). Thank you for watching! All pools top out at about 4-5 feet or 1.5 meters. Wi-Fi has always been sufficient for me to check Facebook, email and FaceTime with the grandchildren.

Sian Kaan does not have a gym. You can use the gym at any of the 3 other resorts. The Gym at Grand Tulum I think is a bit bigger & better than the other 2.

Hello! The trolley ride to or from the beach takes 10-15 minutes. Often it is a cooling breezy respite from the heat & humidity. I’ve not seen any rooms with a bath tub.
All buildings are Jungle View and just about all building locations are very quiet. Only rooms next to the lobby may hear music in the evening that ends about 11pm. Otherwise, If you are staying an upgrade room the buildings 16-20 are as quiet as can be. Regular room classification buildings around the Sushi Bar Pool provide the quietest resort experience possible; buildings 27 through 36.
Is it only shade everywhere? I hope not! I know obviously not everything will be shade all day, but around the pool areas? What are the chances of getting a nice tan at the pool? :) Thank you

The prices have gone up considerably. Three post pandemic trips (this one February 2023) our cost with USA Transfers or 2 was US$135. Now that is $199.
How are the bugs for early may? Going in a few weeks for 10 days with my toddlers ans wondering if we need heavy duty bug spray or if the natural one will work OK.

I saw somewhere in my research the area requires biodegradable sunscreen / bug spray - is that correct? I know you mentioned in one of your videos the bug spray you take which I think was the green can with deet. (I’ve watched ALL your videos related to these resorts but I can’t seem to remember which video it was in.) Can you give me advice on if deet is acceptable or if I need a special type?

There are a few nature places in the greater area (parks, beaches, snorkeling reefs) that impose the requirement for certain types of sunscreen and/or bug spray. But none of that applies to anywhere at the Bahia Principe resort complex. We always take Deep Woods OFF with 20-30% DEET. My wife is a mosquito magnate because she’s so sweet. I have the DJI Mini2 and I’m an outlaw when flying it there. Only Mexican citizens may lawfully fly any drone of any size anywhere in Mexico. There are no permits a visitor can get. Twice when flying at the resort I was told by security to land it & put it up, not permitted.

Always pre-schedule your round trip transfer from any of the legitimate well known providers. We always use USA Transfers booked on the Entertainment Plus website. But there are several others. If you get the private service it will take about 50-75 minutes each way. A shared service where they’ll stop a time or two for others on the way will take about 90-100 minutes.

Thank you! The knee is coming along and I’m now better than I was pre-replacement. No need to make reservations for the Gala Buffet, just show up when ready. There will be various things (the best things)being prepared at the grill stations. Get there early too.
Grand Tulum guests do not have access to either “Luxury” resorts, Akumal & Sian Kaan. That’s OK, there will be plenty to keep you busy with Grand Tulum and all of Grand Coba. The Congrejo pool is a great relaxation spot at Grand Tulum.
Yeah. I know some that bought into it and say they love it. I think that’s denial talking. In no universe or alternate reality would I consider such a thing.
The beach bar at 7:47 is new to me. We have stayed at Akumal three times previously and will be returning in June, is this bar for privilege guests ? or is it open to all guests of Akumal and Sian Ka'an. Will you be doing an updated video of Akumal ? One more thing.....no one ever shows any footage of the Hacienda entertainment in the evenings, I take it they still have music and dancing there most evenings ? Thanks and keep up the great work.
I believe this is for Privilege club members only. We are staying at Luxury Akumal for our 3 straight trip as well this late March. I have a video up of there from 2020 on my page.

We are staying at Sian Ka'An in December and 3 other couples that we are going with are staying at Tulum. Can Sian Ka'an guests eat at Tulum and Coba buffets? Thank you for watching! Sian Kaan guests have full access to everything at all 4 resorts (except some timeshare things). Yes, you can dine at every buffet and make reservations at every restaurant. Those staying at Tulum are limited to everything at Tulum and Coba. But here’s a bit more. The Tulum buffet, imho, is at the bottom of all 4. The food tray area is too small and the seating area is very hot. Coba’s buffet is superior in every way so you’ll want to meet there instead.
We didn’t stay at Sian Ka’an this trip, had a grandson with us so stayed at Akumal. Look way back on my video list, like the 2nd or 3rd, I did a whole video on the garden jacuzzi’s suite.
The trolley is ran by the resort and is fully included. They take you to the beach and to all the other areas of the resort complex. They run from 7 am until 2 am.
Gotta say, i love that review. I'm going there in about 2 months. Already can't wait!!!

I recorded the pool early, before breakfast so as not too minimize disturbing others. Plenty of sunny spots after breakfast.

May can be bad for mosquitoes and you’ll want a serious solution. We’ve had good luck with Deep Woods Off with DEET.

The airport duty free store in the departure terminals is a great place to get real vanilla.

Hi there, What is the snorkelling like at the beach? Noticed the red flags and lots of breakers.
There isn’t much, some fish. Enough to entertain for 30-45 minutes.

Grand Tulum guests do not have access to either “Luxury” resorts, Akumal & Sian Kaan. That’s OK, there will be plenty to keep you busy with Grand Tulum and all of Grand Coba. The Congrejo pool is a great relaxation spot at Grand Tulum.

Are the beds in the Sian Ka'an/Privilege Club section on the beach for all Sian Ka'an guests or just for Privilege club?
I think those fluffy mattress looking things are only for the timeshare rip-off program.

The beach bar at 7:47 is new to me.
We have stayed at Akumal three times previously and will be returning in June, is this bar for privilege guests ? or is it open to all guests of Akumal and Sian Ka'an.
Will you be doing an updated video of Akumal ?
One more thing.....no one ever shows any footage of the Hacienda entertainment in the evenings, I take it they still have music and dancing there most evenings ?

I believe this is for Privilege club members only. We are staying at Luxury Akumal for our 3 straight trip as well this late March. I have a video up of there from 2020 on my page.

I have seen other videos recently that show this bar open later in the evening and all lit up.
I thought to myself....Ahh, that will be nice to sit on the beach in the evening and have a drink or two, whilst listening to the ocean.
Never mind...lol
That beach bar was open to Sian Ka'an guests when I was there a few weeks ago. That could change.

Thank you very much for the in depth videos! I know you have talked about this in other videos and explained a few times in the comments but I have to ask again... We are staying at Sian Ka'An in December and 3 other couples that we are going with are staying at Tulum. Can Sian Ka'an guests eat at Tulum and Coba buffets? We plan on visiting them a few days at Tulum but are hoping we don't have to go back for lunch and supper those days. Thanks Papaw

Sian Kaan guests have full access to everything at all 4 resorts (except some timeshare things). Yes, you can dine at every buffet and make reservations at every restaurant. Those staying at Tulum are limited to everything at Tulum and Coba.
But here’s a bit more. The Tulum buffet, imho, is at the bottom of all 4. The food tray area is too small and the seating area is very hot. Coba’s buffet is superior in every way so you’ll want to meet there instead.
Is there any entertainment in the evenings?
Yes, usually it is a small combo playing laid back chill music. Also down sized versions of the big stage shows.
But remember its a 10-15 minute tram ride across the hwy to get to the beach. I prefer beach front (Akumal/Tulum sections)
So you always pay the up charge for a beachfront room?

We didn’t stay at Sian Ka’an this trip, had a grandson with us so stayed at Akumal. Look way back on my video list, like the 2nd or 3rd, I did a whole video on the garden jacuzzi’s suite.
Is it seriously free watersports?
Non-motorized is without a cost. That amounts to 30 minutes mask, fin & snorkel or a little orange canoe.
Is the tram to the beach included? And does it only run certain hours or you can hop on at any time of day?
The trolley is ran by the resort and is fully included. They take you to the beach and to all the other areas of the resort complex. They run from 7 am until 2 am.

You may be “allowed” but it won’t be welcomed by others. Best to leave that at home if coming to Sian Kaan.
