The main reason the Buick Roadmaster along with the Chevrolet Caprice/Impala SS and Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham was discontinued was because the GM Arlington plant, where they were built, was being retooled to build Tahoes, Suburbans and Yukons. Traditional RWD body on frame cars were falling out of favor as more people were turning to SUV's. And it was mostly the AARP crowd that were buying those cars.
Now that's a car I wouldn't mind being seen in. I love smooth riding cars like that Roadmaster. And they can really run too, with that Corvette engine under that Olympic-sized hood. The perfect car for taking your lady for a ride. (No, not like "Driving Miss Daisy"!). I mean, your girlfriend or wife, on that front seat with you. Park the car at night, you and she can watch the stars together, and she is sitting right next to you and you have your arm around her. Ahh, life.
Couldn't find a smoother riding car when these roadmasters came out. The last of GM's Body on frame, V8 powered rear drive behemoths. Drove just like a car from the 60s.
I had a white 97 Deville, I loved it, and took my elderly father for drives in it, but after dad passed away, I reluctantly traded it In for a little 4 cylinder mazda 3 as my low income could no longer manage the high fuel and maintenance cost for such a big vehicle, I still miss it though as do my late dad...
Beautiful car and sounds great! I just traded a '95 Roadmaster with 71K miles on it for a '96 with 51K--they gave me $3K for my '95 that I'd paid $3,600 for off of $7,700. The '95 had the tow package that had the engine driven fan and 2.93 axle--the '96 has the 2.56 axle. I never put mine in OD unless I'm going to be on the highway because with a 2.56 axle, it ws just shift in and out all the time. I see yours has the tow package since it has the engine driven fan.
oh my GOD, i want that! I would of cores half to get a 1996 cuz that's the year I was born! to me Fleetwood and Roadmaster are on the same level, also the raodmaster estate wagons are really nice too!
I had a 1995 and they're magnificent. They literally glide for miles, which is why they get decent fuel economy. I have owned a Lincoln Town Cars and other high dollar vehicles (I put them through the paces, since I put on about 35K a year) and out of all cars, this was my very favorite. I would buy it again today....but definitely never another Lincoln Town Car.
Why wouldn't you buy another Town Car? Just curious.. I've owned my TC for 10 years. (2004 TC) Most reliable car I've ever owned as well as the best riding car I've ever owned. There's a reason Town Cars and Crown Victorias were fleet vehicles.
@@Ace-44 Mine was horrible to handle. It would glide to one side. I had it checked to see if it was in an accident and not fixed right, but the records and mechanics said it was okay. I've always been a great driver, but driving this beast tested me. It would do 360s on ice, something I've never had a problem with previously or since. When it quit, due to an electrical problem caused by the only accident I've ever had that was my fault, I had to buy a vehicle quickly. I got an older Buick Roadmaster and loved that car. I drove it for over 200K miles. I'm actually looking for a 1990+ one today.

ive never drove this or a 90s brougham ,, i drov 90s caprice,,, but never came across one of these,, now there still around but u have to be willing to travel a little farther to find a good one,, looks like san diego has the clean ones
Another great video of another great road car. Roadmasters,Fleetwood Broughams are my top favorits. The Caprice without the Classic trim looks to much like cop cars.
Just takes a bit of time. I've done 3 of them and it's not nearly as bad as some of the new cars. Just gotta take off a few parts and the harmonic balancer, and it's not bad.
I have this exact car in red. It was between this and a town car but the Buick rode a little smoother than a Lincoln town car. No idea why🤷🏻♂️ I drive it on interstate 10 between Alabama and Louisiana all the time. 80 mph and smooth as whipped cream. Just wish the damn door panels weren’t so flimsy
Do you this these big american sedans are more comfortable that european ones like s classes? I'm wondering which is the most comfortable car you ever had! I'd really enjoy a ride in an american full size sedan or wagon ... Unfortunately here in europe thay are so rare... Maybe in the future i'll be up for an international deal!
The cars suck for European highways. They don’t do well at high speeds (70+). My buddy in the Air Force shipped his to Germany. I was terrified driving it on the autobahn because of the body roll but the ride is awesome
@@dezmitchell5329 body roll he must have been taking corners at 35mph lol these baby's are as smooth as butter on highway his must have had issues i bought a 92 just as clean as this year but with 4 times the miles and is one owner and just drove it thru the mountains in Oregon and it had almost no body roll other then on the mountain where the big grades were.
Yes this is definitely a beautiful car and I want to know if it's for sale because I'm looking for a 1996 Buick Roadmaster to buy can you tell me if you're saleing this car I'm Jose Modesto CA
You are going to be so busy with the new lot and all that is going on with your other projects, do you think you will have time for further *one on one* uploads like the one's you have done in the past and the ones in front of your current house?
Says its very nice right in the description but only the inside i mean i like the color but it was scratched and dinged to hell all over i just bought a 1992 with double the miles runs great one owner and only has one small bump to the paint like 2 inches across and like .25 inch wide on the rear bumber all original never had anything that would make it not completely stock 27 yrs later i think ill make a video a post it
I love big old V8 American land barges, and this Buick was the last of that breed, but "Collectors' Edition?" So, their target market was the coveted collector of Buicks? Okay.
Meh...then it's the opposite. What gets "collected?" Stamps, trash, coins, dust...Buicks? I dunno, it's just a stupid name for a car that was already awesome. Maybe there are some Buick collectors out there though, who knows?
+Frank Burns I am one. had a 93 regal my father has a 91 park avenue black with not one scratch, mom also has a 05 lesebre niece has a skylark and I now have a 96 roadmaster with 3 mide shift kit, impalla ss sway bars and many more mods

@CerealMarshmallows Yup. what is more funny is when you see a vinyl top added to a caprice. I even saw one once on an Impala SS! I would never do that to mine!
I would love to come ther and detail cars for yah I relly would but it alot of work to start working over there I wish it waz easy tho cuz I would in a hartbeat
Hey Nathan, I hate you say it but, the current camera is worse the then previous one which was very good. The quality of the new one is not as good (al thought it's not that bad) , but especially the quality of the audio is not very good. Just saying!
At the start of the video he says he goes all the way from Oregon to California to buy these cars. Halfway through he says he knows the guy who had the car and why he sold it. Sure sounds an awful lot like a used car salesman. :/
This beautiful car why not return to the market of new people love powerful cars and old classics better than modern cars because it is weak and very economic Neither
Beautiful surroundings where you live.It makes the videos much better looking at the scenery and details of the car(s) together.

You changed the Opti-Spark on it. I did the same thing on my Roadmaster Wagon. Labor intensive job as you stated.

Also, the underhood light on both mine have not worked.

I think they are a pretty weak link.
+VictrolaJazz I figuted maybe they used cheap wiring.
The whole gizmo is hopelessly cheap! Probably fell apart after the first good slam.
Camera looks great in exterior shots, but under the car is too dark. Also - the plastic scratchy noise is irritating. Do you still have the receipt?
Nice car
That's the role master touring the limit would have limited in the side market lights on the side of the top
