Oh god damn it, do we have to do this one?
Fine lets do it
Just remember you asked for it
Our cars are terrible
Seriously
The only fast thing in our cars
is our...
Take your time
Is our drivers in bed
They look as good as your mom in jean shorts
they’re as reliable as north Korean missiles
And we use so much plastic we make phub look like an environmental organization
But no matter how terrible they are
Which is alot
our cars are loved world wide
No they’re not
Our cars are loved world wide
“not”
Just look at Iran they make and sell a crap ton of them
Mostly because they don’t have a choice
But it still counts
Although Our drivers aren’t any better
The majority of them are non carguys that are super PC and drive like NPCs
And the minority are carguys that thought having a french car makes more sense than having a polo
But they’re French so no one cares what they think
Its not like we’re small or don’t have the resources
We own a chunk of stellantis and are technically related to these cars
Some say its a tactic to make cars that are so terrible that it makes the rest of the lineup look great
But im afraid that was an unintended byproduct
I mean sure we’ve made a cool car here and there but even a broken clock is right twice a day
People give us props for being cool in the group B era but so was ford
And their car basically ended the damn sport
Peugeot/Citroen
We don't need a tagline because we honestly couldn't care less
please stop telling people you got a great deal, you really didn't
Also Your hatchback isn't a hot hatch its barely even a car

Citroën actually made lots of great cars between the 1930s and '80s: the Traction Avant, 2CV and Dyane (the cars which motorized France), DS/ID, SM, CX, BX and XM are icons of the high 20th Century, and still fondly remembered by petrolheads. The fact it nowadays just churns out tons of insignificant cars makes us sad, but lest we forget its past grandiosity.
All car companies are pumping out insignificant crap these days. It's all just ugly crossovers or overpriced Tesla wannabes like the EQS.
Hell, the Citroën C5X is actually pretty cool. Or would be if they offered it with the hydropneumatic suspension.
Peugeot also produces the most popular car in Europe, the 208, which is a very attractive looking car. Haven't driven one so I can't say more though.
They made the ami, wich is good
They made pretty good cars even after that in my opinion, like the C4, C5, C6
@@Sparkpluggy The C5X suspension is still quite comfy tho. I mean, I'm sure my hydraulic C5 is better but who knows :)
@@SparkpluggyI have a friend who has a 208 it's really cool . Corners well too like every Peugeot
As a 2001 Peugeot 307 1.6 16V driver I love my car. It's reliable and looks alright. It's starting to catch some rust here and there nowadays but the engine is perfect. That thing never gave me a major problem or a crater in my wallet
Tbh mid 2000's French cars are not bad at all considering the price, as long as you stay away from AL4 automatic transmission ones
Yup and the RS serie is prety solid
The TU engine is known to be a simple and yet very good engine in terms of conception and reliability. It was equipped on a lot of cars of that era: Peugeot 106, Renault Clio 1, Citroën Saxo, Citroën Berlingo 1, Peugeot Partner 1,etc...
My father owns a 2004 307 SW diesel, biggest POS anyone in my family ever purchased, that thing will just randomly leave him at the side of the road at least once a year, if not multiple times, absolute money pit that he cant get rid of cause everyone here knows how bad they are.
Definitely a unique example
The idea people have of Peugeot and citroen is just horrible, specialy in the US. But actually I would say that recently those brands have got some good inovative designs and about reliability I think they are a lot more reliable than what people think they are. Just look at those maniac van drivers always pushing the company car to the limit xD
Great video! Always makes me laugh :)
The design was allways inovative. The reliability dropped tho
Peugeots are still immense fun to drive. Some of the best drivetrains around, literally.
Citroen was innovative ever since, any car guy knows that. They had hydraulic suspension, monocoque chassis, world first FWD production car - all that in the 1930s... Then coems the DS, SM, Xantia Activa.
@@MrJonas7 that's very true. Citroën did such inovations... The Ds was just way ahead of its time
@@nighteagle7299they get less innovative and more "normal" with every new model.
It's sad, really.

@@RZVVN_ What? Why?
@@dodge1515It's on screen at the very end of the video
my mother and father owned both Citroen and Peugeot cars, I must respectfully disagree with the claims made in the video. In my experience, these cars have proven to be incredibly durable, reliable, and easy to drive. They've held up well over the years and have been nothing sort of a pleasure to handle on the road.
Every car brand has its unique features and target audience, and what might not work for one person could be a perfect fit for someone else. It's unfair to label these cars as terrible and slow when many drivers, myself included, have had great experiences with them.
Additionally, it's essential to remember that calling people 'bad drivers' based on their choice of car is unfair and unfounded. Driving skills are not determined by the car model but rather by individual experience, adherence to traffic rules, and responsible driving habits.
Let's embrace the diversity of opinions and experiences in the automotive world, acknowledging that each brand has its strengths and areas for improvement. It's through constructive dialogue that we can better appreciate the beauty of all cars and make informed decisions based on our preferences and needs.
Safe and enjoyable driving to all, regardless of the car you choose

I've always had Peugeots at home and despite them serving me well (we retired our trusty 406 recently) I found this HONEST commercial hilarious! Also the Picasso was (and still is IMO) unbeatable as a MPV family car. PS: More commercials!!
My dad had a 406 too. The only thing that broke was the only thing that wasn't from the factory, the alarm ☠️😂
My dream car as a kid was the 206 because of NFS Underground 2.
I remember it looked really modern for the early 2000s standards. French cars usually have great designs.
You can still buy one brand new from Iran, you'll could go to turkey to buy one if you don't want to go all the way to Iran
@vasopel the ones made in Iran are fragile and come with a shit engine, he could buy an original good 206 from France with a better engine and body.

There's plenty of brands left for honest commercials. You should keep doing them even if you step away and do it less frequently
Fun fact: The Citroen DS was a revolutionary car back in 1969 for its moving headlights when you steer the wheel around and the hydraulic suspension, going through bumps without any single effort. The Citroen in the past are also known for their very good suspension technology. They may be ugly, not reliable and all but they had more quirks than your average shitbox corolla
fun fact: The Toyota Century bashes the DS head in, French automakers should have stopped way earleir
@tanaka90 the Toyota Century has nothing to do with a Citroen DS, they are completly diffetent vehicles, even so Citroen always had better suspensions, the hydropneumatic suspensions they had in their vehicles was far ahead of its time, even Rolls Royce bought that system for the Phantom! Also some other fun facts: the Citroen DS could be driven with only three wheels and the Peugeot 504 was the first car in the Africa's deserts because of its reliability.
but they are not ugly and some are very reliable ( exept renault those are very very bad)

Also, 206 vs Clio, Twingo, or whatever car at the same price range, is always a win for the 206. Sorry!
I won't talk about Citroen Pluriel and other crap like that, tho. They never existed in the first place.
As a Peugeot owner, I find this both fundamentally incorrect but at the same time completely true. They're just a different breed of car. If that's good or bad I'm not too sure, but as it currently stands I wouldn't swap my 308 too easily.
p.s. I did in fact get a great deal - Mine was free as it was on the verge of dying!
as someone who drives a Citroen Xsara Picasso with a 2.0l diesel HDI engine, this is real (btw that engine is indestructible)
We ditch it 10 years ago because the trunk keep opening by himself.. But the car itself was sooo good
Heres an interesting idea, an honest lada riva commercial
To be fair, Citroen was cool like a million years ago. DS, SM, CX, even the XM....
The 2cv too. Cheap, reliable and had a very innovative suspension.
I find it a crime that none of these Citroën were mentioned nor the successful Peugeot Le Mans winners (905 and 908)
You forgot ze ZX

Citroen C2 VTS owner here, yes it’s the most powerful spec, no it’s not a hot hatch. Just the only model that has enough power to move the damn car 😫
In defens of citroen. They made the most comfortable suspebsions EVER. And in defnese of Peugeot, they made the best hothaches in the past. And overal french cars are usualy pretty well enginierd if you ignore the electronic stuff. (They still got no excuse for the terribly unreliable shitboxes they make today tho)

Gosh - every true mechanic knows deep down in his heart that André Citorën, Renault, Panhard&Levassor and soooo many other French inventors and companies DID have great influence in the automobile as we know it today but it's sooo hard admitting it. I never get tired of wondering how companies that were there from almost the beginning until today and are valued as 'big players' still haven't got the hang of HOW to construct/develop a car right - I mean: they do almost everything differently and not in a good way ... so much time and knowledge spend, so few lessons learned. But yeah - PSA and Opel are quite the perfect match like Ford and VAG might become. I fix cars of any brand here in good 'ol Germany but if there is anything work releated that I almost scorn as much as VAG it is french cars and their (in my opinion) downright stupid philosophy behind engineering. The money you save by buying a Dacia or PSA you gonna invest tenfold in repair and for rental cars - I just love how most of the 'French community' makes fun about Daimler or BMW owners and how much money they wasted - sad truth is that most traditional premium owners of reliable platforms (don't gimme crap about 2-Series or wannabe luxury A-Class and stuff) are saving way more money and are putting down serious mileage with their cars without ever meeting troubles like the French enthusiasts in the first months of ownership. Well - to each his own ... Love what you love but don't point you fingers at others while you don't do any better than them ;-)
As always - great honest commercial :-D
Peugeots need on time by the book maintenance and they last over 300k.
Owned 4 Peugeots and 2 Renaults, not a single breakdown. Currently got a 5008 and last gen 308GTI.
Looking forward to a 508 GT Sportswagon next year to retire the 5008.
My 230k 206 thats been abused like hell is still going strong, electronics are a bit wonky tho.
What are you saying? The whole history of Citroen, of course with mistakes and exceptions liek every other car maker, is of innovation, the world's firsts and amazing cars like Citroen Traction Avant, DS, SM, Xantia, even the C5 and C6 were amazingly comfortable and reliable cars, the most comfortable in their respective classes... Why do people always have to sh*t on French cars I don't understand.
@@MrJonas7 Please re-read my post: I said that it IS common knowledge how many important innovations and inventions the french brands had. Of course there are many happy owners out there (nothing wrong about that) - my point of view (and distaste) is NOT rooted by ownership but by 'mere maintenance and repair' I get in touch with as mechanic (working on those cars is not quite the standard experience in my opinion) ;-) Yeah, comfort and luxury of DS, SM and so on are legendary but so are the horror stories about the repairs on the hydraulics and the Maserati engines when they get older :-(
You're right: If you're dependent on a shop to get works and repair done and you 'just' drive your car you don't care (and see/know) that much (and as you said it shouldn't be much worse or better than any other brands) ... but if you get in touch more frequently with the 'other side' you will eventually see things differently.
@@Stag_Stopa Ok I get you, I know there were issues, but that can be said for thr Germans as well, for example the infamous BMW V8s that Idk if they even fixed now after 20 years. Actually the hydraulics in the last C5 or the C6 are very reliable, lasts for like 300,000 km stock, and even has some quite cheap replacement parts.

Modern Peugeot/Citroën suck. Peugeot were great from the 205 to roughly the 7 series of cars (207, 307, 407, 607, 807), they kinda got back with the 208 and 308 first generation but now they suck again because they went the premium route and they can't build an engine that doesn't eat its timing belt or burns oil. On the Citroën side, the 2CV was great for its time and can still be a piece of fun today, and they used to be the "crazy ideas" french brand, mostly thanks to their buy out of Maserati and their Hydropneumatic suspension. Now, they're just on the cheaper side of the PSA group with weird looking cars. The only real plus side of Citroën is they kicked ass in Rally thanks to Sebastien Loeb and his Xsara (and later, the C4).
