In pro tournaments there's no such thing as spamming. When you're playing for big money, it doesn't matter how you win. If your opponent isn't good enough to stop it, keep doing it.
@ Lollaffers : you were right about the rest, but the teleport isn't a standing teleport. i've tried it (and it's really hard!), you have to do a jump, and quickly cancel it to a teleport (it becomes a mid-air tele now) to be able to execute a jump-in attack. :D
Most people don't understand the purpose of fireballs is to pressure your opponent into mistakes and keep proper spacing to "bait" your opponent into a mistake. It isn't spam, as newbies to SF are saying constantly on youtube.
hes pressuring sagat with the yoga flame -> slide -> hard punch its a double attack combo cause his yoga flame is moving at a slow rate and he catches up with a punch. His strategy is very clever as he even uses dhals dodge to pass the 2nd tiger flame. This guy is mad good.
Actually the game has been out in arcades all over the world for a while now, that's what people have been playing. This is the arcade version. If you live in the US you'd need to be somewhere like California or New York in order to find it.
As for picking characters that take more effort, just like opening moves in chess, popular choices are technically stronger but opponents also have much more experience in facing them. An unusual character choice can bring your opponent into unfamiliar territory and work to your advantage.
Not sure why people are hating on the SF4. I actually enjoy these kind of matches. Imo they're more strategic than the rushdown type play that the dislikers tend to favor. Though I may be biased since I've always been a more defensive (make the other guy mad/punish mistakes) type of player in fighting games.
Dhalsim is a very ranged fighter. With his stretched arms and projectiles, he was merely using the abilities he's been granted. By keeping the ranged pressure up, it essentially kept Sagat out of melee range which is where he truly shines. While you didn't see many high hit combos which seems to give the youtubers hardons, instead you saw fights that were as offensive as possible while keeping the defense up.
I was there. When Sagat dashed backwards instead of forwards in that last match, the whole crowd let out a collective gasp. lol Amazing Dhalsim player. We were rooting for him the whole time. lol
can someone tell me how to do the uppercuts like sagat's and ryu/ken's and then immediately cancel into a dash like at 0:50secs? i been tryna figga that out
I don't know too much about this game but I got 2 questions. For the combos such as shoryuken, do you do the stick motion and the button at the time same time or the button after the stick motion? Also is super street fighter 4 a lot better than this?
how does that dhalsim player do the jump teleport behind enemy so quick? It's like he never even jump but somehow he can do the air fierce punch right afterwards.
anyone knows, if there's a page, that list upcoming tournaments from japan? with livestream. wanna see uryo, daigo, mago... if anyone knows, please let me know.
when it comes to normal fire balls yes.. you can focus then absorb a fireball, then cancel the focus and then do the same through the next fireball. close range u have to be more cautious you cant really focus cancel quick enough to use it like a parry. you prob wudnt cancel unless it was going to wiff.
That Dhalsim was really good, love to see a Dhalsim player win a tournament, I hope it happens more often to show that it's not the character it's the player.
Anyone care to explain what Iyo is doing at 6:37? I've been trying to do that shit, but I just can't get the timing right. Is it just teleport into bw hp bw mk yoga flame?
He is a very good Dhalsim player. if one understands the game, It does not matter who fights who. there are arguably limitless strategies for any character. this was a good match.
please, tell me theirs more vids of this dhailsim play.who is he?to take a low tier character and destroy a s tier character takes skill.this is the best match i've seen so far,of a truely skilled player.
rose actually has a special that allows her to absorb normal fireballs and build up her super meter thats what he was probably doing. Try using light punch to do fireballs it makes them travel slow which can cause ppl who like jumping over them or in ur instance absorbing them to make a mistake.
Holy Damn. The Dhalsim is extremely accurate. The combo at 6:36 is incredible. Its like chess you wear the opponent down. Duel of 2 Champions. A Rare treat. :)
The next installment? What are you talking about? SF IV isn't so much parry predicts like 3rd Strike. It's more of a camping game that requires patience, mind games and predicting.
Very good point. I was in a small local tourney once, and I kept picking Zangief, because he's my main, well eventually I had to face a player accustomed to facing Gief's. So I picked my alternate: Akuma. Long story short, I beat him. Not a blow out by any means, but the point is, that learning more than one character is VERY important.
Yep, and that's the exact order of how it's played online. If the parry mechanics were more like 3rd Strike you would not see even half of the fireball spam you see in SF4. That's probably the only reason Sagat is in the S Tier, because of how fast he can spam fireballs.
Just overall patience and practice is key. To play any one of these guys at street fighter would be a great honor for me. I am decent but to train with these guys would improve my game greatly.
The reason why people hate playing Dhalsim is because they don't know how to use him right. If used correctly, Dhalsim is one of the best fighters in the series...just because he's slow doesn't mean he sucks..you have to use him correctly.
Yessir! I know what you mean and I feel exactly the same. Street Fighter is also a lot less action packed. I played a few days ago and I got bored within the first hour. In Tekken, you can unleash like 10 hit combos and juggles. Tekken 6 is full of action and it's going to be amazing. But for the sake of all Street Fighter fans, I am going to keep Tekken 6 out of Street Fighter videos and comments. These two games are going to be rivals soon.
Lower tiers doesnt mean that you cant use them well. Dhalsim isnt such a low tier anyway, the difference isnt that great. Add that the tiers for SFIV arent that explored since the game is pretty fresh and you have quite noisy data.
Virtua Fighter is the best fighting game ever! more complex, more dynamic and realistic. But Street Fighter 4 is the 2nd best beat-em-up. SF4 is a masterful game.
I don't know how much experience you have with Capcom fighting games, but that's what it's about... It also DOES involve skill and impeccable timing. I guarantee you very few people could get close enough to the player with Dhalsim there to land one punch.
I've just realized, this is a Japanese tournament and all the character voices are in Japanese, but the in-game announcer is in English... a bit odd...
sagat, ryu, zangief, balrog, bison, akuma, chunli, blanka, rufus, viper, ken, dhalsim, abel, guile, honda, fuerte, vega. thats the official tiers list for the japanese 2009 arcade release.
That was one hell of a finisher. It's good to see Dhalsim win. I am so sick of seeing spammy Sagats, that all they do is TIGA SHOT, TIGA SHOT, TIGA SHOT, TIGA UPPURCUT, and TIGA KNEE. But I digress. They were both good fighters and it was one helluva match.
the sagat didn't use the knee because sagat's knee doesn't go over projectiles. The EX version might, but that uses meter, so sagat wouldn't bother with that.
All I'm basically saying is that I liked it way better before when fireball spam wasn't the main strategy to win fights. This is exactly why I used to play more fighting games like Tekken and Virtua Fighter than Street Fighter. I thought the next Street fighter would be more like it's previous, but apparently not.
did you play SF3? i reckon the fighting system is much better, i really liked SF3. i think taking it back to it roots was a bad idea, it is only opinion. and i know it brought alot of old players back coz of what they did. but i just find the game boring now. i guess i just like 3 better.
Yeah, I'm a Tekken fan, but they are two entirely different games, so maybe I'm just not used to this play style. It is more of a 2D fighter, so it has 2D mechanics, well actually, its more like 2.5D, but I'm going to try it out and see if its funner than it looks. =)
wow i have this game & its so hard for me I just beat arcade on hardest difficulty & have won ranked matches but had no idea about the strategy stuff you were just talking about
Lyo never allowed RF to use Sagat's close range superiority. He kept RF at bay. His Dhalsim exhibits tenacity and a relentless approach with consistent zoning and close range damage savvy.
The Sagat player was good with the focus absorbs, I'll give him that. But what I said still stands, he didn't know how to approach, especially around the end. Which is why the Dhalsim player had the upper hand with the teleports, caught the Sagat player completely off-guard.
everyone stands a figting chance but sagat is overpowered not cuz of his health but because of his ultra opportunitys and the sheer amount of options he has
that dhalsim player was smart in the last round he knew that if he let the sgat guy keep his distance he would be picked off like he was in the second round and the dhalsim player used the fact that he has not spammed the teleport and used it to his advantage and pressured the sgat player and becasue the sagat players health his low he cannot stay back he is then forced to come forward which puts the dhalsim player more in a comfort zone very smart
@seglan0226 well the thing is, and i say this with no real experience with this game in particular, he could probably have set up those fireball-teleport combinations earlier but then the opponent would've been keen to it earlier and early on the opponent might have been more open to the potential. he did it at the most important moment and the opponent had no chance to come up with a counter because it surprised him at the last few seconds
The Dhalsim guy is really smart. He kept attacking in a similar pattern early on to make his opponent lose focus, then on the last round he used his secret moves, completely changed his attacking pattern and caughth is opponent off guard. Cause the other guy was too used to the beginning style.
@XardasDerMaechtige sim is really hard to play man, once someone gets close to your its pretty much game over if they half-way know what they are doing
There is a reason for that. Why would he go forward against a Sagat player? Once you get past his projectiles Sagat is just waiting to punish you. The Dhalsim player is playing amazingly by keeping his distance and opening up counter attack opportunities.
Great match, these players possess skill and patience in huge quantities. SF4 is an immensely enjoyable game.
Wow, teleporting behind sagat and pulling that awesome combo, that was epic.
No, it's the art itself.
When they released the console version, they redid all the artwork and made it look more cleaned up.
on the teleport, if you want the crossover to link, do you need to jump slightly before you do it?
@FurkoTurko28 its called variety. sagat has strong punches, dhalim gets to teleport and shoot stuff.
Actually the game has been out in arcades all over the world for a while now, that's what people have been playing. This is the arcade version. If you live in the US you'd need to be somewhere like California or New York in order to find it.

Though I may be biased since I've always been a more defensive (make the other guy mad/punish mistakes) type of player in fighting games.
at 2:10 Sagat makes a move like an auto block from a EX move, is this like a parry or something?
Why exactly does dhalsim keep sliding towards sagat after he uses yoga flame? I thought the whole point was to keep sagat at a distance...
Yeah read his post again. He's actually giving compliment to the Dhalsim player. And yes, the fight was magnificent.
I was there.
When Sagat dashed backwards instead of forwards in that last match, the whole crowd let out a collective gasp. lol
Amazing Dhalsim player. We were rooting for him the whole time. lol
can someone tell me how to do the uppercuts like sagat's and ryu/ken's and then immediately cancel into a dash like at 0:50secs? i been tryna figga that out

you press the button after the stick motion
best dhalsim player i've ever seen.
The way he closes in on sagat while dodging the fireball spam is amazing.
how does that dhalsim player do the jump teleport behind enemy so quick? It's like he never even jump but somehow he can do the air fierce punch right afterwards.
anyone knows, if there's a page, that list upcoming tournaments from japan? with livestream. wanna see uryo, daigo, mago... if anyone knows, please let me know.
holy lord amazing game.the dhalsim player used the character very effectively and the last move was the best in the match according to me.
keep it up
that is some of the best dhaslim playing I have ever seen. I may have to buy a copy for myself after all.
when it comes to normal fire balls yes.. you can focus then absorb a fireball, then cancel the focus and then do the same through the next fireball. close range u have to be more cautious you cant really focus cancel quick enough to use it like a parry. you prob wudnt cancel unless it was going to wiff.
isnt Dalsim the one who has the the flames?
That Dhalsim was really good, love to see a Dhalsim player win a tournament, I hope it happens more often to show that it's not the character it's the player.
this match's resolution is higher than 1080p?
I think you guys are not looking at h591boy's use of the word "bad" in the proper context. Its slang, for sick/good.
Anyone care to explain what Iyo is doing at 6:37? I've been trying to do that shit, but I just can't get the timing right. Is it just teleport into bw hp bw mk yoga flame?
you have to do a focus attack after and dash cancel forward then do the ultra.
It's a new move called Yoga Tower, I don't remember the input, maybe down + 3Kick
He is a very good Dhalsim player.
if one understands the game, It does not matter who fights who. there are arguably limitless strategies for any character.
this was a good match.
Why are people complaining about spamming? Isn't Dhalsim a ranged fighter instead of a beatdown?
please, tell me theirs more vids of this dhailsim play.who is he?to take a low tier character and destroy a s tier character takes skill.this is the best match i've seen so far,of a truely skilled player.

Holy Damn. The Dhalsim is extremely accurate. The combo at 6:36 is incredible. Its like chess you wear the opponent down. Duel of 2 Champions. A Rare treat. :)
wow great
the quality is amazing
I must say it's cool to see a dhalsim player of this caliber.
The next installment? What are you talking about?
SF IV isn't so much parry predicts like 3rd Strike. It's more of a camping game that requires patience, mind games and predicting.
so why did you watch the video exactly?
Very good point. I was in a small local tourney once, and I kept picking Zangief, because he's my main, well eventually I had to face a player accustomed to facing Gief's. where can i get a sagat ring tone tiger shot ring tone?
Just overall patience and practice is key. To play any one of these guys at street fighter would be a great honor for me. I am decent but to train with these guys would improve my game greatly.
You don't have to reinvent the wheel to make it badass. This game has tons of esports potential.
@ghember What is better then?
The reason why people hate playing Dhalsim is because they don't know how to use him right. If used correctly, Dhalsim is one of the best fighters in the series...just because he's slow doesn't mean he sucks..you have to use him correctly.
I've heard that one before, that might be a possibility. Maybe the gameplay would look better if the players were better.
Yessir! I know what you mean and I feel exactly the same. Street Fighter is also a lot less action packed. I played a few days ago and I got bored within the first hour. yep it has more content, more characters, and better graphic also is online
damn that last round was sick, ultra combo finish in the finals what a beast
@ShinobiXRevived he was never banned in any tournaments as far as i know. sagat was OP not broken like Gill from third strike
I don't know how much experience you have with Capcom fighting games, but that's what it's about... It also DOES involve skill and impeccable timing. I guarantee you very few people could get close enough to the player with Dhalsim there to land one punch.
I've just realized, this is a Japanese tournament and all the character voices are in Japanese, but the in-game announcer is in English... a bit odd...
this is still imo the best match up ive ever seen.
I think it's cool how they commentate on the matches. They take this shit really serious. Which is kinda cool.
sagat has so much Hp, such strong attacks and his fireballs are the fastest ingame and they go through teh whole screen.
You'll need to turn on your screen, you know.
tryan get better at Dhalsim. Can someone pm me how to do Dhalsim new dodge and his transport? thanks.
sagat,ryu,zangief,balrog,bison,akuma,chunli,blanka,rufus,viper,ken,dhalsim,abel,guile,honda,fuerte,vega.
thats the official tiers list for the japanese 2009 arcade release.
That was one hell of a finisher.

the sagat didn't use the knee because sagat's knee doesn't go over projectiles. The EX version might, but that uses meter, so sagat wouldn't bother with that.
better yet, I want to see them all try to play like him.
That announcer is REALLY into the game! XD
I think he's enjoying it more than anyone else!
@retarguus I only played Street Fighter 1 when I was a kid. I knew about the others but I never seen the action there. So...
Is this Asteroids?
@willowlee you should go to the malls more often. theres alot of people who play dhalsim like that. if your from the philippines
@Koenig1980 so ur a tekken boy?
where are daigo?
wow Iyo is back? I thought he quit
All I'm basically saying is that I liked it way better before when fireball spam wasn't the main strategy to win fights. where is adon
this looks really good.... never played it before
whats better? tekken or SF? ive been a tekken guy all my life. played SF a few times.
holy crap man....that's crazy skills from Dhalsim
never thot Dhalsim can be this strong in the game
thats not a parry its just one of dhalsim's moves i forgot the input cuz i dont really play dhalsim but i remember it invovles all punch D:
Lyo never allowed RF to use Sagat's close range superiority. He kept RF at bay. His Dhalsim exhibits tenacity and a relentless approach with consistent zoning and close range damage savvy.
This Dhalsim is awesome, great play and great space control
The Sagat player was good with the focus absorbs, I'll give him that. But what I said still stands, he didn't know how to approach, especially around the end. Which is why the Dhalsim player had the upper hand with the teleports, caught the Sagat player completely off-guard.
those teleports in the last round were incredible
@ragonomics My bad, I meant Street Fighter 4 (only) had made Sagat overpowered
videos like these make me realise how terrible I am at street fighter
not played ssf2 then?
everyone stands a figting chance but sagat is overpowered not cuz of his health but because of his ultra opportunitys and the sheer amount of options he has

Great change in strategy in the last fight by (player) Dhalsim
@XardasDerMaechtige sim is really hard to play man, once someone gets close to your its pretty much game over if they half-way know what they are doing
I'm currently addicted to playing this online. I hope I don't run into the guy who won this match XD
cant dhalsim use yoga flame as an anti-air move? y didnt he do it? but still a good match ^__^
There is a reason for that. Why would he go forward against a Sagat player? Once you get past his projectiles Sagat is just waiting to punish you. The Dhalsim player is playing amazingly by keeping his distance and opening up counter attack opportunities.
where do you live ?:)
