It's like developers nowadays are following some not-written instruction, weapon sounds to not include low-frequency sounds/bass, for who nows what reason... Everything is quiet, everything sounds "soft"...
None of the other railguns compare to Quake 2's; even when they're using some of the same sounds, they all lack that initial 'crack' that makes Q2's railgun sound so damn beefy. Plus, they never have the same recoil animation either. QC and Q3A's railgun gently pushes backwards like you've just fired off a .22 -- Q2's wobbles around as if it weighs a ton and just lobbed a Volkswagen at your crosshairs just under the speed of light.
Some sounds better some sounds worse than originals but damn they could take RL sound from q1 or make very similar because its so recognizable even tf2 done very similar sound

It's actually got me kindof turned of Quake Champions that have such incredible potential but now, at the moment it is broken. It's mainly a lightninggun only game. Only time people use the rail seems to be when their lightninggun cant reach the target.
I use rail almost exclusively, even in close range fights. It really catches people off guard. I usually hit with a rail while closing distance, and switch to MG/LG. I don't use the lightning gun in this game nearly as often as I did in Q3, the range is less than half what it should be. Lightning gun should be able to be used as a DMR or make shift sniper, like in Q3. Rocket splash damage is a joke in QC, I frequently hit less than a foot away from players with ZERO splash damage, and often CONNECT for 20 DAMAGE. I use the rocket launcher in QC about 10% as often as I did in Q3. In Q3, landing anywhere near the player caused some splash damage, and touching them caused major damage. Hard to break that habit after a few thousand hours over a couple of decades lol
Wow, are the Q:C sounds terrible. There's no punch at all, like every other sound in the game wants to be as loud as the shots. The echo is almost louder than the nailgun :D
I would like a new quake game with the design and sounds of Quake 1. No colorful fucking ammo crates, just gritty earth tones on textures as well as pickups, guns, characters. No silly "Yeah baby!"-screams. Just powerful weapon sounds, stone door sounds and characters moaning in pain when they get shot.
Honestly, I was never too much into the art style of Quake 1. I would really like a new, serious Quake game revisiting the Stroggos universe…. Though I am kinda biased since Q2 was my first quake game

the only upsetting remake gun was the q3a machine gun. it doesn't capture the classic audio, it sounds like the default machine gun in qc and the accuracy is absolute garbage.
Quake 1 rocket launcher sounds better than QC remake. Same Q2, much better. The reload sound is longer. Same with Q2 rail gun, sounds like a more beefy badass weapon. The QC sounds are so weak sounding for weapons, like its about to fall apart after 1 shot.

how come the quakechampions' rocket launcher on 3:03 has a modelled mechanism for loading rockets into the barrel, but it doesn't work, when on the rocket launcher 1:24 it does?
I guess because it is based in the QA model where it didn't have a mechanism either, but I understand what you mean, there is no point showing the rocket compartments if they are not going to show any animation, in QA the rocket launcher was pretty much a big ass tube.
Uh the Q3 Rocket Launcher doesn't look anything similar. It isn't close enough to call them comparable. They really need to add the Q3 Rocket Launcher into QC.
better if they should've just upscaled the old Quake 3 models and put them in Quake Champions, and no need to show the hands holding the weapons, just the muzzles like in Quake 3
That's how the Lightning Gun and original rocket launcher are in QC, you can only see the barrel and not the whole gun, which I also prefer myself. The machine gun doesn't seem the same, even though it looks similar. I can see too much of the gun, I only want a rotating set of barrels. They should have had all the classic guns be barrel only like they were in Q3, and had the rest of the modern guns be - well - modern.

You used to be able to unlock them through lootboxes, but since they removed them in the most recent patch, you'll have to buy each of them with an ingame currency called "platinum" of 500-1000 (sale/not sale), which amounts to 5-10 $/€ or playing a looot of matches. :-/

The Q 2+3 railgun in Champs sounds just like the original, but revamped. I fucking love it, so much.
If you listen closely it's actually a mix of both Q2 and Q3 RG sounds and it's awesome.
