- Mercedes is back with a new Electric G-Class taking luxury off road to the next level. The Mercedes EQG we have today has four electric motors underneath along with a very large battery pack. The 'G turn' is the coolest thing I've seen in a while and actually has a practical use.
Not really. Try doing that on asphalt road, your gonna shred your tires and the road.

@@Maxdubi If you keep spinning it then yeah it will probably shred the tires pretty fast, but if you only use it to spin 180 degrees just to turn around on a narrow road then it should be fine?

What's a fan of offroading? Do people knowingly go offroading or it's more like a need for people in difficult to reach locations? I think it's the later.
@@TheRealGigaCat For me it's a need. I live miles from county maintained roads in the rockies. No ev can get here at the ridiculous weights thay are coming in at. Nothing short of a light weight Tacoma with lockers and oversized snow tires can get here in the winter. Low psi footprint is a requirement unless you are on tracks like this gwagon and all other ev should be.

The G wagon always had it's weird niche. It's an incredibly good car for off-road activities, but far too expensive to risk scratching it.

Ev is not fun. Heavy, 27x less power density than ice, coal powered and each one comes with forced labor and resources from the tax cattle.

Even at just 20% efficiency ice blows electric off the surface of the earth.

Mercedes having Marques get in a Vision EQXX and Zack in the EQG shows their marketing division understands which TH-camrs should be getting which vehicles
The area there belongs basically Magna Steyr the successor of the Puchwerke who has created the first G together with Mercedes. Only engines and gear box came from Mercedes. The other technique from Puch. In Austria and former Yugoslavia it was sold as Puch G. Magna Steyr produces for Mercedes all the G classes. Many greetings from Austria!

@@ScaniaMF no! It’s not. The M710 has been produced and constructed before and was a competitor of the Unimog. The Puch/Mercedes G was one class lighter and smaller and better suited for on-road. It should be a „jeeplike“ car, but with much more off-road capabilities than the Land Rover, Jeep, Landcruiser etc. I personally feel about the development after 2000 very sorry. The G-class became a car for rich posers who will never use the off-road capability of this car.

Okay, that 'G-Turn' is a good one. And I'm pretty sure most people will use it for tiktoks, just like that E-Active Body Control feature in the GLE's and GLS's that makes the whole car bounce up and down fairly quickly and rapidly.
That air channel for the wheels won't do much for aero when the vehicle still has the general design ideas of a brick.
Very cool! As a Jeep Wrangler 4xe owner, I'm also a fan of the G wagon, but they are out of my price range. Glad to see that they are developing an electric version. I would like to see them eventually do a plug in hybrid version of the G Class, as I would consider buying one (A used one in the further future as new would be too expensive for my budget)

Did you know, even if we mine the material here to manufacturer battery cells, we still send to ore to china for processing, then it's send back for manufacturing.. Do you know how much fuel this burns?
You’ll also be buying tires more often.. since it’s all wheel you need to replace 4 at a time..

Thanks for the sneak peek Zack! I can't wait to see the first electric G Wagon when it's ready for prime time. Crazy what EV's can do vs ICE vehicles and the individual motors on each wheels is a game changer. The G spin was pretty cool and I think it'll actually be useful in a tight situation where doing the Austin Powers turn around isn't ideal.
My mom is planning on getting this when it comes out!!! We are thinking of either a dark green or matte black exterior?
