Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video, Sir. I always say that it is my dream to be there and be like you and the other artists, even though it seems nearly impossible. It is such a delight to know that we use the same materials at some point, it makes me feel a tad closer to that dream. You and the artists at the square are really amazing. Will continue working hard to honor your greatness.
Walking through Place du Tertre 06/23/2024 with a colleague and his wife we happened upon Davy Lim. Had no intention of sitting for a portrait, however Davy Lim seemed a bit intrigued with my mutton chops and Australian hat rustic look. My colleague encouraged me to sit for Mr. Lim, and so I did. While Mr. Lim created my portrait an increasing number of people stopped to watch and photograph as he drew. I saw several thumbs up with several comments, "It looks just like him." and "Very nice.". His finished work was amazing. Although Mr. Lim shows the talents of others in his videos, I can attest that his own artistic talents are exceptionally refined. Thank you for drawing my portrait Mr. Lim, it is now framed and looks wonderful.
Well, that's a surprise! I remember you well mate and I really enjoyed that drawing! We spend a lot of time drawing kids so it's terrific when a model who has some real character agrees to pose. Thanks again and great to hear from you!
Autenticos guerreros de la vida artistica!.. venciendo obstáculos para llevar de manera directa, el arte al publico! Ustedes son mi impiracion!! Deseo mucha VIDA para ti,Davi Lim!.. Tu eres el mejor!!!
I will learn this style of portait with pastel soon. Every artist is unique in their own way. My favorite was the Twin boy's.. keep them coming my friend
Herrlich!
Bernard is still very active at the Place du Tertre. He features in my Place du Tertre Review video 2021-2023 Part 1 (47:30) th-cam.com/video/08tTEt-Zf_k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dMTmqfVBIilW5adj
Hi davy how are you? ? .i am your follower. Why did not you upload videos frequently? I am eagerly waiting for your finger strokes. I am from india. But currently working in kuwait. I have been studying sketches and portraits simultaneous period every day. Your portrait was admired to me. I am mesmerized . Now i have comleted one monk portrait. Can send through your mail box? ??
Hello Davy! After watching your videos, I would love to have a painting done by Majid (sp?) , Stephane, or Agatha. Do you know what is the best day or time to get a painting done by one of these artists? I am particularly interested in a watercolor painting.
Knowing when to stop is important no matter what medium is used. Yes, pastel drawings can get muddy, which is why it's important to be careful when using certain colours. Overuse of black can make a drawing dirty very quickly. But mistakes can easily be corrected with pastel, either by just smudging and redrawing or by using a putty rubber. On the other hand, if you are working in a medium like pen and ink there is little room for error.

I dont think pastels are that forgiving a medium, it can easily go muddy & overworked.
