Happy New Year 2025 my dear friends... it's winter... and the feel and emotions in the first months of the year are always very deep... I usually take time to reflect in such months ...the warmth of Christmas is away... so a certain melancholy and bleak emptiness take over... it is cold and we spend time indoors... with the exception of a few walks in the chilly air that make us want to go back home and just kind of vanish for a while... yet our thoughts and hearts come alive... and we somehow need to express what we feel...
...working with Cyrill Mayer... the amazing producer behind Mo's Music... lead me again to a very emotional state... after our collaboration last year on 'BiancaNeve'... I passed him some more piano which was pure raw emotion on keys... and he comes back with this complete track... full of dynamics and peaks building from fragility to pure strength... there are some people out there who just feel the music the way we do... and in my case... Cyrill is surely one of them... pure goosebumps was my first reaction... I am a huge lover of strong percussion when it fits... and this track so needed those snappy drums and build ups that resolve and build again... Cyrill was truly the right man for the job... whilst last year 'BiancaNeve' was treated with the poetic smoothness and flow the piece demanded... this year a powerful grip for this track was needed... and Cyrill proved me how very versatile he can be and how he can dress melodies and chords with the right drive and approach... the details in his drums and the arrangement around my piano are truly a perfect fit to convey the story the keys are telling... I tend to see visuals forming in my mind when I first listen to music... and what I put on screen here... are the elements... that played in my mind at the first hearing ...of SUBZERO...
Not only because he comes from Switzerland, the country where I live... but also because he is a truly awesome producer. Do pay Cyrill Mayer aka Mo's Music a visit... you can hear through his works what style and perfection sound like:
