I feel that this was one of my questions that I asked. Thanks so much for jumping in to it. Really rooting for you on the rubber lips tournament. Been watching it like a hawk.
Thanks. It is crazy how many people say you can't enter a tournament. I am setting up boat and friends and family are like oh you need a expensive boat or oh you need yo be better. They are missing the point. Have fun and fish. I was looking and there are a ton of tournaments every weekend. It would be a blast just to place even in a little one. I used to drag race motorcycles. Same story. Lots of grinding, some money and and finding a good person to show me the ropes. I had a lot of mistakes and disappointments. But then i started winning. So this was awesome to hear. I am finishing up an aluminum boat and I am going to start entering because a bad weekend fishing has to be better than sitting at home dreaming. Thanks for sharing info. I have met a couple guys on flukes that pro fish. The one guy quit his job at Ford to pro fish. At the time he had won his 5th boat lol. He was just an everyday guy that loved to fish.
This is inspiring. I used to be the non-boater in bass tournaments in Arizona and there is a level of arrogance and exclusivity that can be found in the tournament circuit. People get big and forget where they came from. Thanks for being humble and inspiring for the tournament newbies!
Well put Caleb. As a kayak fisherman/ tournament angler, tournaments can be very intimidating. The only way to get better is to jump in head first, lose, learn why you lost and grow from it. Fishing tournaments all around makes you a better angler.
Thank you Having a.d.d. but been bass fishing since i was a kid with hopes of tournament fishing someday, always tell myself i am not ready when i know i am, you just helped me bigtime i will re-connect with my 1st bass tournament results at age 42! Thanks for the PUSH!!!
Always great information put into clear and straight forward talk. No mistaking your intent! Truly enjoy your vides and without a doubt, always pick up valuable information that improve my skills and likelihood of catching either more fish or larger fish. Keep up the great work and I always look forward to your next presentation.
Great advice about investing in good foul weather gear! I was the guy getting lower end gear with it only lasting a season just to get a new set the next season. Invest in good solid cold and foul weather gear! Best thing I’ve ever done being a cold weather winter Wade fisherman.
Another great video. I just went on a trip a few weeks back with Capt. Brett Sweeny. I was picking his ear about tournament fishing as well. Fishing my first Saturday the Boots N Buckles. Very well timed video! Thanks man!
Awesome video capt very well said I’ve been fishing tournaments for 3 years now and the most important statement you made is finding good partners and good gear for weather still haven’t placed first but we are closing in on it keep up the good video bud
Boat the bought in 2020, 2021 is the year I get after it. Started in the kayak tournaments. Hope to see you out there 👊🏻 Great information as always 👊🏻
Was actually in shock when I got the notification that you posted this video. I was just about to ask on the group page how to get in to tournament fishing! Thanks for the info!
Maybe next year :D All I can catch right now in this July heat are dinks. I was on fire in the spring and actually considered it. Started a YT channel and now I cannot get a fish over 2 pounds . So is life lol. It's still fun for me.
Considering your enthusiasm, sounds like you really enjoy tournaments, but then again fishing is your life. I've often thought about entering one (never have) but worry about it taking the 'fun' out of fishing. I only get to fish every two to three weeks and do so to relax and enjoy myself. Do you find tourneys more stressful than an average day out on the water?
If you have a competitive personality like I do, 1000% more stressful.... It's a different kind of fun... Fun that isn't necessarily relaxing, but more of a way to scratch your competitive itch, see good friends, make new ones, and experience some things you would otherwise never experience.
So on the grundens jacket I have a couple questions. First off as far as features go how does it compare to a simms. From your explanation I can assume it is the same durability as a simms and lastly how are the warmth capabilities on it say if i wanted to use it as a wading jacket in the winter or is there another option in their line for this? I am looking to get one for the winter time because I have been doing a bunch of research on how to get a big trout and am planning on fishing hard core this winter lol. Thx for the help in advance great video btw.
I’m not gonna go with The Who’s better, but you know which I use.... they are roomy enough to have a jacket under. Invest in some good base layer. I recommend under armor 4.0. That will really cut down on the amount of clothing you need under it. I wear it year round and adjust with base layers.
Another great video.... Great information keep up the good work I asked you to please excuse my grammar or my spelling when reply.. I am in a big truck driving when I send a comment on videos. 👍💯🙏
Tons of great info. Don’t expect to win when you start, if you place, awesome! If not, don’t be upset about it. All about learning.

He’s one of the exceptions I mentioned as far as a guide that is also dominant in tournaments.

Haha! It’s fun AND easy.
Great information. I think Steve wants a guest spot in the next video.
This is inspiring, but it’s hard for me to even try to start doing tournaments when there isn’t really any in Oregon. I also don’t have a boat.
Very well put 👏
This was a great video with great information but I still can figure out where to even find any tournaments or how to even register into a tournament.
CC at this time I wade and kayak fish. I am looking forward to fishing my 1st tournament in my kayak. Where can you find a list of tournaments?

Good stuff. Thanks!
You got yourself a future star.
He has a bright future....
Thanls for inspiring me
All about learning.Thats what i tell my wife my first 5 trips since about 5 years off.skunked every time..lol
You’re not wrong.
One more great video
Great information! Where can I find upcoming tournaments in the galveston and Matagorda area?
There is usually a spreadsheet on the forums at 2coolfishing.com.
Lots of schedules are messed up due to covid this year...
Well that just inspired the hell out of me!!!!
I’ve always wanted to get into tournament fishing. Not gonna lie, would rather avoid you guys for a bit, but I see what you’re saying!

Thanks Caleb. I still probably need to learn more stuff. Ha

Any tips on how to fish east matty bay? not asking for spots or anything just for some tips on how to attack a new big body of water like that.
Book a trip with Caleb. Well worth the $$$$. I spent a day with him and learned a ton. And didn’t catch a single fish.
Eric Tiech i just might, ive been struggling when it comes to attacking a new bay and getting on some fish
It about getting out there and trying it you can't win if you don't fish the tournaments
Another great video....
Great information keep up the good work
