I love that you described that apple as a 'russet', where anyone from outside Somerset woul have called it an 'apple'. My dad (a fruit tree grower from Somerset) would be proud of you guys.

14:17 those red berries are actually hawthorn berries. They are perfectly edible as long as you watch out for the tooth shattering stone in the middle. Lots of red berries are edible but it is just safe to know what to pick. Some deadly berries like Belladonna are really black too so it isn't always the red ones

allmost what i was going to say; the rule is do not eat ANY plant or mushroom you do not know what is.,

Plants wont help you survive they just bring more risk for little calories. Berries don't grow much, humans should be looking for insects and small game instead if they want to survive.

@@berternie6181 What about roots? For instance burdock root. Burdock root is full of calories, pignut is also really good for that. Are roots worth considering?

    • @berternie6181

@@toffinabof1353 any source of sugar is good and should be consumed or kept in storage if in a survival situation. Roots can absord alot of nasty compounds too so only source from well drained soil and from plants you're sure about. All just my opinion though there are many ways to do things

90% of red/blue are edible, 90% of white/yellow are not. But, this is a kind of surival only thing you shouldn't rely on it otherwise.
