If the trace elements have been limited certain processes have stopped or slowed, then the coral is introduced to an environment with adequate trace elements, I'd believe it would take time for the coral to ramp up it's metabolic processes to natural rates. So there would be a delay in the utilization of trace elements. Think about the human body, if you take a synthetic hormon, it takes time after you stop taking it for your body to start producing it itself. Just a thought.
How would a study of coral uptake of trace elements be a viable reference using aptasia? That would be the same or saying calcium levels are important for Zoanthids.
I think low trace is better than too much and to be low you need a lot of coral and not a lot of water changes. You also have to trust your testing that’s being done. Even icp isn’t always accurate
