I'm seting up a 4X2X2 for a 6 month old male ackie. He will use this for a year before upgrading again. It has a 6" substrate dam, and my question is should that be enough or should I also provide a dig box? Thanks!
I didn't know you had a second Ackie! The enclosure looks nice, I did my 3d background with insulation foam and cemented over it. Then painted it with animal safe paint. I only did the background till the ground so my ackie can burrow against the cage all he wants and foam wont get in the way.
See I tried that with 1 sheet of foam as an experiment and the thing is I don't want to make the enclosure to heavy incase I need to move it since it's already quite large. But that method is defently good for a permanent background.
The enclosure looks great, man. I’m thinking of getting a baby ackie in a few months. The only problem is I don’t have an enclosure and all I have is a chameleon cage. I was wondering if I can keep it in there for a little bit at least until I find a cage that’s affordable and available. Or if you know where I can get a cage for a good price. Do you know if a baby ackie will do good in a chameleon cage for the first few months?
It looks great! I'm fixing to set up a new enclosure for my ackie soon, too. I was thinking of making a retes stack with textured/decorative tiles, and to tier them, like stairs almost. (With all the appropriate safety measures, of course.)
Awesome viv thanks for sharing im currently building my viv its 6x4 so high made a big dig box 15" deep substrate as we cant get them deep vivs in the uk im thinking i will need another basking light is your 2nd one the same wattage has the main one?
Love the new setup. Always a treat to see a video with Thunder.
Thank you. More to come.

@@Scales13 It does make the enclosure heavy yea lol, but I see my ackie climbing it all the time like a little gecko
Yeah my a few guys use chicken wire and concrete to make really elaborate shapes
@@Scales13 haha thats creative

Ackies don't do well in open air cages. I would get the enclosure First.
@@Scales13 Thanks for the info, man. I always want to make sure I’m doing everything right before getting the animal. I’ll be sure to do that.

Yes the fixture is the same. I change out the bulbs depending on what time of year it is.
