      Thank you for serving. There is a swedish band called sabaton. You Amy wanna give them a listen. Hear the kinda of songs they sing. Even being swedish they honour American service men in songs. Like the song 82 second all the way,. Devil dogs, no bullets fly. Ghost division.

    Take some Crimson Tide, blend in an equal measure of Hunt for Red October, add some Fifth Missile, stir in a dash of The Bedford Incident (all excellent - Fifth Missile was a TV movie based on the novel 'Gold Crew', Bedford is probably one of the best cold-war thrillers ever - well worth viewing); mix well and bake for approximately 90 minutes and PRESTO! A bloody good movie! Never heard of this one until now - thanks for uploading.

    I only spent four years in sub duty the reason we carry nukes is as a deterent I never met an officer or enlisted man who wanted to launch except after a rehaul. We all went through psych evaluating we were all heavily investigated by the FBI with background searches. Anything is possible but this isn't probable. That said so far it's an alright film. Gray lady down is an awesome flick if any copies can be found

    • @Kirkee7
      @Kirkee7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I agree. I never served in the navy. This is an improbable reaction of an XO who has no idea why or who detonated a nuke warhead but is prepared to launch on 4 targets . How did he manage to escape from the loony asylum and pass himself of as a navy officer. That might have made a good story.

    I have been consuming a steady diet of submarine films and thoroughly enjoying myself . I am satisfied by the brave men outwitting the evil or stupid ones .I love the heroes, the David and Goliath style victories. Not ‘cheesy’ in these cases at least in my view ,just the wonderful good soundly defeating the evil bad,my idea of the way the world should be. Straight forward ,ruled by moral and ethical soundness proving too strong for evil .❤

    I was surprised that the sub (in the movie) went down as deep as 1,000 feet (on purpose) and survived.
    I have a good friend who served aboard submarines in the 80's. As a fictional novelist of Navy warfare books, I have asked him many times about the maximum depth our subs can get to and never received an answer. He's a credit to all who served, are serving and will serve in the United States Navy and the Silent Service.

    @6:58, I believe it was good the movie script had that scene a part of the movie. Married servicemen and women serve WITH their wives and husbands. All to often we overlook everyone serves, Dads, Moms, children, Grandparents, everyone who knows the service member is away from home serving America are locked in arms knowing one day their service member may pay the ultimate price for our Freedom and they will be left with memorys and sorrow. Keeping America FREE 'ain't' FREE, it comes at a huge cost. GOD BLESS and KEEP America's service men and women, without their sacrifices our Freedom would be lost.

    If this was real life that X O would be a dangerous person to have any position of power let alone his own Boat . He has no idea if there is anyone attacking the US and wants to arm nuclear missiles without knowing who the target would be .They knew that North Korea was going to test missiles so it would be easy to guess that something went wrong . As for the South Korean city being blacked out that is also easy to explain , the EMP took down their power grid
    Lunatic

    •  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very true, they could have gone South to the US Navy base in South Korea and laid offshore and used a HT to radio operations at that base.. This would have taken them a couple hours to do but hey this is Hollywood fantasy where you check reality at the door..

    The plot in this movie is similar to Crimson Tide, but the conflict is different; Crimson Tide's captain, actor Gene Hackman, and the Executive officer, actor Denzel Washington had a different conflict and interaction. Both movies are good!

      Crimson Tide is not a real situation on any US Navy ship or boat. The Captain's orders can only be question once by saying "sir", and then there is no conversation. The COB will shot the EO.

    As soon as I saw that “goofy dolphins” submarine-service breast chest insignia, on both commissioned and enlisted “actors”, and then that two-star admiral (McRaney) with no primary breast insignia, but he was sporting a “SSBN Deterrent Patrol” secondary breast insignia, I knew I wouldn’t last another ten minutes of this movie. And I most definitely did not. I have almost 37 years Navy service, both enlisted and commissioned, seagoing and aviation, active and reservist…..and I have damned little tolerance for films that don’t take the time to properly portray accuracy in the wearing of the uniform. Too many men AND women, have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country, wearing the various uniforms of the different branches, and it’s the LEAST that Hollywood can do, is to properly honor their uniforms by simply portraying them accurately. Is that really too much to ask? And McRaney is a long term supporter of the military. C’est la vie, I guess. Why bother even commenting.

    Just saw this movie for 1st time. I'm on board with the other 2 or 4 Navy men assuming the rarity of one officer/ Ex-O freaking out so bad. I was on 6, that affirmative to Our brave Navy veterans, plus the other brave men & women of any other branch. I was in 1970-& 1992. Vietnam throughout Desert Storm. I was stationed @ NAS NORIC, just a Naval code for North Island Naval Air Station, Coronado, San Diego, California. Man O man I AM So Very happy to be back in my home state of Sweet Home Alabama. Well, back to Anti-Submaine Squadron 41. In other words my S2E Propeller aircraft could track down any older class Subs, but not the Russian Nuclear one after 1986. I worked on/repaired every piece of Avionics equipment from the cockpit to the aft/rear "Hell Hole". That's where all "Black Boxes were safety wired down double strong especially when on the Carrier TAD, or Temporarily Duty. Any you swabbies, short for Navy Sailors, ever hear these ships I was on; USS Ticonderoga, USS Handcock, USS Coral Sea, USS Midway, USS KittyHawk, how's about the Nuclear powered Enterprise? That last was CVA-65. Any rate, just for a rarity, I was 3 straight Navy, generation. Gradpapy, WWI, My father, WWII as a Navy Hospital Corpsmen, 2 invasions against the Japanese @ Okinawa & Sipan with the 1st & 4th Marine division. Read up on, Okinawa 1945, or watch the movie Hacksaw Ridge. You'll have a education that today's US Government doesn't care enough or afraid of the greatest military might & guts to stay gone seas fighting & dying for nearly 4 years. For what this country has changed into since the currant administration has nearly destroyed our country & the strongest Military in the World. God bless America, & please bless us all dear lord in heaven! Give us stronger backbone leadership please Lord. 🙏 Amen

    Great movie. But some of the posters here need to realize, it IS a movie, not real life. The actors do what the script tells them to do. Doesn't matter how authentic it is. If it was authentic, then it would be a docudrama not a "movie".
