This has been a reaction I've been trying to get on the channel for 3 months. I just now finally got it approved for TH-cam. If you enjoyed the reaction, give me a LIKE!
They were supposed to appear in My Fellow Americans together but Matthau had gotten sick, which is why James Garner did it instead. Still a funny movie, though.
@@dan1216 I thought James Garner was going to become the other half of a new "old men" comedy duo, but alas Jack Lemmon passed away not long after Walter Matthau. All three Grumpy Old Men - John, Max, and Pop all passing within two years of each other.
The sequel is definitely worth it as well. John's car is a 68 dodge polara, and grandpa was mickey in Rocky and the Penguin in the original batman show from the 60s
He was also in several Twilight zone episodes. The one about the bookworm who when the world blows up, he's the only survivor. Then he breaks his glasses.
When I saw the title I knew you were going to live it. My mom & I saw this one & the sequel in the theater & we laughed our butts off. Anytime you out Walter Matthau & Jack Lemmon together you know it’s gonna be funny but then throw in Burgess Meredith & you’ve got an instant classic!
The fancy ice fishing hut you showed blew my mind.. I haven't been ice fishing since I was a little kid 30 some years ago, but I remember squatting with my dad in a shack very much like the ones the old men use in this,. Great reaction, as always, man.
Jack Lemmon was the original movie Felix Unger and Walter Matthau was the original movie Oscar Madison, so together they were Neil Simon's first film Odd Couple. Matthau originated the role of Oscar on Broadway before reprising it for the movie, and Art Carney (Ed Norton on the TV classic, The Honeymooners) originated the role of Felix on Broadway before being replaced for the film by Lemmon. Thomas Lemmon played Felix and Matthew Perry was Oscar in the latest TV incarnation on CBS just a few years ago, but the classic and best-known portrayals were Tony Randall and Jack Klugman on ABC, 1970-75, and again the year this movie was made, in the telefilm, The Odd Couple: Together Again. 3 years after this film--in 1998--Matthau and Lemmon reprised their roles again in The Odd Couple II.
1st this reaction reminds me of grumpy old men. And then your comment completely reminds me of Dennis the Menace which I also haven't watched in like a decade. I think Christopher Lloyd is better in that than in even Back to the Future in my personal opinion. "I bet they dont even lock their doors."
Lemmon and Matthau were Academy Award winners. Kevin Pollak, the actor who played Max’s son, was one of the main lawyers on Tom Cruise’s team alongside Demi Moore in “A Few Good Men”. Burgess Meredith, the dirty old dad, was the original Penguin in the 1960’s Batman TV series and Sylvester Stallone’s trainer in the movie “Rocky”. The sequel to this is great too!

These 2 had such tremendous chemistry. The sequel is good too and features Sophia Loren as well as Ann-Margret. Their best movie together is The Odd Couple from 1968. They did a sequel 30 years later that I still LOL at. I love that early scene where the housing guy shows up and because they're friends, Walter Matthau isn't going to rat him out, but because they're both jerks to each other, he's definitely going to talk smack about him with him standing right there.
The IRS guy was played by Buck Henry, not only an actor, but also a writer and producer. Collaborating with Mel Brooks, back in '60s he was co-creator of a classic TV show you might be somewhat aware of called Get Smart.
These 2 guys are awesome together. I loved the movie “The Odd Couple” which later became a tv sitcom. The redhead is Ann Margret. Beautiful singer & dancer. Was in love with Elvis for a while. She’s also appeared in some great movies, some with Elvis!
I believe most all the television ads in this movie are Little Caesar's commercials. It was a wild time during that ad campaign cause they were so weird, and hilarious to me.
The woman was Ann Margaret, who was a pretty big star back in the day. She was in Viva Las Vegas with Elvis for one, and The Who's "Tommy" adaptation of their album. She was an all around entertainer. You can't mention Jack and Walter without mentioning their all time classic, "The Odd Couple". A Neil Simon play that became a movie and then a tv show. It's a classic funny movie. Another good comedy with Jack Lemmon is "The Out Of Towners". But it has to be the original Jack Lemmon one, not the crappy remake they did with Steve Martin in the 90's.
It's FUN watching People doing Reactions, this is one of my Favorite Movies, READY to see your Reactions, I've seen a few, you appear to be a COOL normal guy, COOL REACTIONS.
Matthau and Lemmon were in several movies together, staring with The Fortune Cookie (1966). Their most notable film was the movie version of Neil Simon's play The Odd Couple (1968). They also did a sequel to this film (Grumpier Old Men) which wasn't quite as good.
Such a funny movie...and the sequel is almost as good, I think...I hope you watch that one too. For another really good Jack Lemmon movie, I highly recommend a film called Mister Roberts from 1955...it stars Jack as well as Henry Fonda and James Cagney. A good choice for a movie with Walter Matthau would be Fail Safe from 1964, which also stars Henry Fonda...small world, eh?
Lemmon and Matthau had unimaginable talent individually, however together they were simply perfect, so perfect in fact that they are buried less than 50 feet from each other. You should add the last movie they did together it is a comedy along the lines of this called Out to Sea (1997).
Wabasha is located about an hour & a half east of St. Paul, MN. It is on Lake Pepin which is part of the Mississippi River. I grew up across the lake on the Wisconsin side. It is one of the most beautiful areas in the USA.
I have watched a lot reaction videos of people watching this movie for the first time. They all comment Ariel breaking into his house. But I have to say this was made in 1993 set in the Midwest a lot of people did not lock the front doors or their back doors. What are the fact that they're usually hidden key by the front door.
I saw this movie in theaters legitimately when it first came out which is really funny because I'm only 35 and I actually always lean more towards movies like these then cartoons that's not to say I didn't have a collection to Disney movies but I had a bunch of these movies when I was a kid too had a weird collection I was a weird kid lol.
Nice i saved the reaction to this movie twice in my watch list. Just to find it gone in the morning. Part 2 is just as much fun. You have seen grandpa Gustafson (Burgess Meridith) in Rocky as Mickey Rocky's trainer. I now Ann-Margret from viva las Vegas an Elvis Presley movie. Thanks had fun watching this reaction.
A couple more GREAT Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau movies are the Odd Couple (1968) and the Odd Couple 2 (1998) My Fellow Americans stars Jack Lemmon and James Garner as feuding ex-presidents. Dan Aykroyd is also in it

The red head is Ann Margret. She's been a singer/dancers/actress for many years (watch her in Viva Las Vegas with Elvis) . Still a beautiful woman.
