That's an excellent freedom camp to visit, and a short walk to the salmon shop and the beautiful views of Lake Pukaki. I enjoyed it more than the holiday parks in the area. The clear blue skies in the region over spring and summer provide plenty of solar power.

I've noticed that some nzmca members are not obeying the " DOGS ON LEAD'S "rule ...the club need to crack down on this before someone is attacked and injured..you timed your visit well , normally that site is wall to wall every time I've driven past ...the like button isn't working on your posts!!.💕🇳🇿

I get the impression the NZMCA sees members with aggressive dogs as "not their problem"? The NZMCA rules state that members can't bring the NZMCA into disrepute, but I'm not sure if owning a dog that is off lead and growling / barking at people constitutes bringing the club into disrepute. They've never mentioned bad dogs in their newsletters as something they care about. I feel safer parking next to tourists than NZMCA members because foreign tourists don't bring dangerous dogs with them to NZ :)

I didn't actually do the Mt Cook area, unfortunately. Some other campers told me Mt Cook gets very crowded with tourists at the time I was passing through. There are just so many campsites to see in Canterbury and Otago, and I wanted to see Queenstown/Wanaka before the last of the snow melted :) Next time.
