I believe my first 32 heat win was with Aspect of Lucifer of all things. Jumped straight up from 20 heat and got my first win surprisingly quickly. Clearing 32 heat for all aspects was quite the journey and towards the end of it I really felt like I had grown in prowess. Going back down to 15-20 heat really felt like taking the anime training weights off just like I had planned. I still wish the pact was bit more open if you hate a couple of the expensive options. I just really can't play with the speed demanding ones because they make the game unfun for me, even fast enemies from Benefits Package feels too much at times.
I spent an unholy amount of time trying to get merciful end with Gilgamesh, I managed but I was probably into the 20-30 runs. I went with ares attack, and Athena special, perfected to get the ares delay boon due to damage increase, the Athena dash was needed and I also used the expose status to get the 2 status effect into play
As someone who does analytics for a living I'm estimating the time you spent both gathering, but also formatting this data in a way (much harder than it looks with so many variables) to tell a compelling story as "significant", so thank you, and great work . Also, very nice job on telling a compelling story with all of these choices.
I got RIDICULOUSLY lucky on my first attempt- went with plume Zag fists and somehow managed to stumble across ME. Managed to get 60% dodge (thanks to an extra 10% from Hermes) which pretty much made the final fight a joke even when walking in with 1DD left which I didn't lose.
Can confirm all pacts and guides mentioned in this video work well Source: I used Haelian's first one for ideas years ago when starting out and I wrote one of them lol
I've attempted 32 heats multiple times before, but I always end up dying by Asterius or Hades. Even though I can comfortably clear 20+ heat, I thought 32 heat would still be far away dream from me. After this video I got motivated again to try 32 heat with Heart Rend Chiron and voila, 1st attempt of the day and I finally beat it! I'm still shaking from excitement like holy shit. Thank you Haelian for words of encouragement and your helpful videos. I've found some of my fav builds thanks to your videos!
I can actually see Zeus attack on Arthur working as a dash-attack build, since you can sort of double poke with a dask attack into a single normal attack. Letting you get a pretty nice hit&run build if you can find Static Discharge. Also, I figure one of the reasons why Aspect of Chiron is so good for this kind of challenge, is because positioning matters a lot less for your damage output than with any other aspect, once the enemy is tagged you can just focus on dodging and use your special in between.
The best thing I ever did to consistently increase clears at 32 heat was to reduce forced overtime. 40% is ok for some weapons like Beowulf, but I just couldn't manage it with Rama or Arthur and other slow weapons. I swapped it for routine inspection at 6.
@@SlickWillHermsted What i did was beat the game with only forced overtime turned on. Then i gradually added in the other heat until it was the new normal. Now if i ever turn it off I feel like i'm waiting forever and have time to get a sandwich before the enemies load in. Let me know if that helps
Hi Haelian, long time watcher here. I first cleared with the popular Chiron bow setup, but that felt quite easy. At such a distance from the enemies, you don’t really need to know the mechanics in much depth - just move and shoot. But I was super proud when I managed zag fists, somehow without getting Athena’s dash, which I always thought I would need. Now I’m working on Nemesis sword for a real challenge. Thanks for all your great work.
"you don't really need to know the mechanics in much depth - just move and shoot" yep. that's how I got my first (and only) 32 clear. A glass cannon that ran away and bursted down everything I could. My boss fight mechanics are pretty good, though.
I used Chiron and shackle with ap2 so that I could still do damage without needing boons. In Elysium I ended up pivoting to a dio attack build with triple shot, and that worked in the end. No deadline because I was more focused on staying further away from enemies to keep health with 75% lasting consequences on.
Your videos and analyses have continuously been amazingly helpful and detailed. Also a complete joy to watch! You've helped my gameplay by a ton. Really appreciate the time and dedication you have to the game and to the community!
Fun video, thanks for the data dad. I got my first 32 heat clear on my first try after finally getting up the courage to try it, which took 170 hours and 72 clears. Eris rail with Zeus attack Aphrodite special, as it was what I was most confident with. First chamber got delta chamber, which I know most consider pretty mid but is honestly my favorite hammer for letting me focus more on positioning and keeping the pressure on without thinking about ammo. Got triple bomb in Elysium too which was goated, made me realize I actually had a chance of finishing the run. Ran EM4 which was super risky but I love the three phase dad fight, although it nearly cost me the clear, finishing with no death defiances and 40 health left. Never felt more elite gamer status than that moment; Hades is such an incredible game. Edit: submitted my victory screen to add to the data!
So I didn’t actually have the confidence to do 32 heat until starting a second save file when I got back into the game recently. I used the Eris rail and stubborn defiance with a bit of help from Achilles and his lover giving me an 80 percent heal on every room. I personally found it fulfilling but I think I’ll be sticking to a lower heat for the average run cause I just find that more relaxing. Just pushing up the heat level on each weapon to 32 heat and then I’ll see from there 😊
That data is very interesting, thanks for taking the time to collect it! My first attempts were with Zeus shield but I failed miserably. I ended up succeeding with Eris. Looking back at my victory screen 1 year later, I'm surprised that I went with both EM4 and FO2. I didn't even have the Acorn on in Styx (apparently I went with Mom Pom of all things??). Now I've beat 32h at least once with each weapon, and I noticed that the SD/LC3 or LC4 set up was especially helpful on melee weapons (fists/sword) as I tended to lose my DDs in regular chambers. For the other weapons, DDs were better.
ok getting your first 32 heat clear with the rail before ever unlocking any of its aspects is probably the biggest power move I've ever heard of. almost certainly not actually a new player because... why, but still definitely chad. really showing the titans who's boss.
Chiron feels like the easiest weapon to get a strong and safe build going with minimal "I have to have _______ boons/hammers". Relentless volley with a good attack and special is all you really need. My strategy was to just burst everything from a distance and dash away if I was able... Chiron bow with Aphro attack, Artemis special, and Athena dash. The idea was to full glass cannon the run and I only wanted to engage if I had to for the deadline. It took quite a few tries, but eventually I got a clean enough run and won. The biggest help came from Haelian's guide (I'm pretty sure I didn't follow it 100%, but the changes I made were based on his suggestions). Pacts: 100% hard labor, 0% lasting consequences, 80% con fee, 40% jury summons, EM3, 30% calisthenics program, 2 benefits packages, middle management on, underworld customs on, 0 forced overtime, heightened security on, 0 routine inspection, 2 damage control, 0 approval process, and 7:00 tight deadline. Mirror options: Death defiance, greater reflex, and Family favorite because I was having issues getting privilege status to trigger without getting to close. (not sure if anything else matters) Everything else was chosen based on "does this help me burst down enemies faster?" The reason I avoided forced overtime was because I felt everyone just got on top of me too quick. The only two "anti-synergy" pacts I took were 30% calisthenics program and 2 damage control. I had to hit 32 heat somehow.
i used eris with zeus attack and got it on my second try. died due to 5-sack on my first attempt and succeeded despite a 5-sack on my second attempt (lv3 dealine). your videos actually inspired me to gain the confidence and go back and beat this challenge after a year of not playing. i didn't have access to the game for a while and was intimidated by the thought of being rusty while attempting a daunting challenge. you helped me re-learn the game and after warming up by finishing all bounties for every weapon i managed to do 32 heat. thank you :)
Cool video! Chalk another one up here for a 1st timer using Chiron. Got lucky getting 2 hammers: Concentrated Volley and Relentless Volley. Made the bosses just melt. After struggling for many tries, with this setup I beat it first try with 2 death definances still left! And pumping Hearbreak Flourish up to Heroic Level 6 during the run didn't hurt either lol!
I did it for the first time in February 2021! Funnily enough I found a message I sent on discord to my friends from January of that year saying "I don't know if I even want to attempt 32 heat on hades", but then my friends beat it so I had to. I remember looking up good builds for higher heat (like 40 and 50) because I figured if it worked for them it would work for 32, and I vibed a lot with Rama! Rama is still my fav.
I picked up Hades a couple years ago, beat the story, got through some high single-digit heat runs, bouncing between all the weapons. Then I took a break for a couple years. It was actually Haelian's video about how 64 heat was nearly impossible that gave me the itch to play again. Ended up working up to mid-to-high teens of heat on most weapons. Then Baldur's Gate 3 was just about to release and I decided I wanted to beat 32 great before it came out. And I beat it first try! I did get really lucky, though. I don't have a cap of the actual victory screen, but it was run 202, I used Beowulf shield, Poseidon cast. I hit Mirage Shot and an extra cast from Chaos before Furies, and Hyper Delivery in early Elysium. For the mirror, I had Fiery Presence, Cthonic Vitality, Death Defiance, Greater Reflex, Boiling Blood, Infernal Soul, Deep Pockets, Thick Skin, Family Favorite, Dark Foresight, God's Pride, and Fated Persuasion. Pact was Lasting Consequences 2, Convenience Fee 2, Extreme Measures 3, Benefits Package 2, Middle Management, Underworld Customs, Forced Overtime 2, Damage Control 1, and Tight Deadline 3 As a side note, Chiron bow was probably my favorite aspect, before I started playing again. Hera bow is my favorite bow aspect now, and I think Beowulf shield is my favorite overall.
Oh wow this data is really surprising to me tbh. I never really paid attention to much besides weapon builds I thought would be fun and I also have a lot of speedrunning experience in general so, even though I just beat it recently and started playing the game this year actually, my first 32 heat clear was with Aspect of Hestia using EM4, Benefits Package 2, Middle Management, Underworld Customs, Forced Overtime 2, and Tight Deadline 3. I basically made all the enemies more challenging instead of limiting myself in any way. Oh, also, I used Aphrodite and as much chaos as possible and got pretty lucky with epic hyper delivery.
I recently completed 'beat 32 heat with all weapons challenge', ngl, a lot thanks to you because I was peeking at some builds you advised :D But I was also listening to myself bc some things just don't work for me. For example, I struggle a lot when I have LC even on 50% level, I used it only with long distance weapons like bow, shield and gun. In case of the bow I am one of these people from yr data that loves Chiron. I started with Ares on special. Was lucky to meet Aphrodite in Tartarus so my privileged status activated quickly. Athena dash for some protection. With fists it was pretty easy, it's my fav weapon (zag+zeus, did it twice, once with athena dash and once with dite’s dash and spamming her legendary call like hell). I do prefer Demeter's aspect but I took Zag for dodging chance. And it feels faster to me. With sword I kinda did that accidentally (close call run), I needed to check out my screenshot to refresh which build I used (it was Dio on attack and Zagreus’ aspect - I know almost no one likes it but I really do). Well, bold of me to call it a build, I chose weird conditions of Pact and only filled my attack and special :D With shield I figured if people beat 64 heat with zeus+zeus it’d help with 32, right? Yeah, I was right, +got explosive return+empowering flight my beloved. With Eris I just couldn’t believe myself, I was lucky to get cluster bomb right at the start so enemies were just melting under Zeus attack and Ares on special. Poseidon’s splash helped a lot too. I did hope to maybe get vengeful mood since I encountered Demeter and she offered me epic frozen touch but welp wasn’t lucky. Spear was the hardest bc I just hate it. I attempted some Achilles + casts builds multiple times and in the end won when I didn't get the build I wanted but what I did get was epic Artemis on attack and flurry jab :D Artemis also gave me epic hunter’s mark which was just a chef’s kiss. Athena’s dash and lightning rod were a nice bonus. If not for your idea to try Zeus cast I would’ve probably still kept making runs trying Poseidon’s one haha so thank you - even if this run switched to being focused on attack. Now I am slowly replaying game in hell mode and I think I wanna try to complete the same challenge in this file. I wanna know how it feels :D
Okay, so the first time I seriously attempted 32 heat (with god mode on, I am not good at this game), I hadn't watched or read much on it. Went Chiron bow with lots of Zeus. But Tight Deadline makes me kind of anxious so not knowing any better I went for none of it... and EM4 (I don't think I even did Underworld Customs lol, although I don't remember my full pact). I did get to Hades (pretty easily tbh!) and went into the first with pretty high confidence; I had tons of health and all my defiances and a good setup. I had him on the third healthbar with an agonizingly small amount of health left when he killed me. Honestly probably 2-3 specials on him away from winning. Incredibly demoralizing! I read up a bit (probably watched one of your videos, Dan), and do feel like EM4 was my fatal flaw there. But when I did reattempt for a while there, everything I could think to replace EM4 with made the early game tough enough I was just having trouble getting out of tartarus (or maybe I just wasn't getting as lucky as that first run!). I honestly gave up after a couple of weeks beating my head against that wall, just figured I've spent about 190 wonderful hours loving this game, got all the achievements (again, god mode on), etc. But watching this has made me decide to start playing again (probably just clearing uncleared heats at first, I think for all weapons I'm at between 14-16 heat) and then when I'm back in "shape" I'm going to get that 32 heat clear. Either Chiron again or maybe fists. And I will be coming back to this video (and the screenshots I took for quick reference) when I do. Thank you!
Data analysis and analytics in the rogue-like space, and for Hades specifically has a lot of potential. I would love to see more content using data, especially to exposé misconceptions and bias within the community. The biggest hurdle to this is getting and organizing the data. We really need a larger and broader sample size to draw some serious conclusions. 2-3000+ runs at least. Maybe a 3rd party program/client that would just record and log run data from the game when it’s running. If enough people had it installed, there could be some really interesting data/content around Hades 2.
I'm still working my way thru the Heats 1 at a time to get the bounties on each clear, I'm at 15 or 16 right now as my highest, this'll be very very helpful for me i think :)
Came back a month later to say it: just beat 32 heat! Really interesting to see how I differ from other players in the way I chose my pact and build, it was a very fun challenge!
4 months since I've commented about wanting to try 32 Heat and just recently I've beaten the challenge once per weapon. Let me say how strangely helpful this video *wasn't* LMAO. I completely forgot to check it in favor of simply... Watching you do 32H with the specific weapon I wanted to do next. That average pact at the end is helpful but watching you do runs and explain why X is a good pact for Y weapon is so much more helpful. You talked about Damage Control for fast vs slow weapons here but, for example, I realized 100% Hard Labor for shields that let you block on some other video instead. And my own realizations, like Convenience Fee+Underworld Customs are horrible to me if I need a Duo for my build, so cut back on one or the other haha. This vid is definitely a good starting point but there's just so many combos that you can't go over the nitty gritty here, but I still appreciate the value of everything being talked about now that I know the challenges of each weapon (and importantly, each aspect) Thanks for *all* of the super explained videos you've put out, it made 32 Heat a lot easier for me than I realized haha
I finally got 32 heat, on exactly my 100th escape! And I did it with quite a different pact setup than listed here, because I just go with what feels fun to me, not what's optimal or anything. I didn't take any of lasting consequences, convenience fee, or tight deadline. I thought those would all be unpleasant or stressful. Instead, I had max jury summons, max calisthenics program, and max extreme measures. I just preferred it that way. I was on Beowulf shield with poseidon cast and mirage shot, and the safety from that carried me through extreme measures 4. Although for a while, Chiron bow with dio & friends was my default for raising heat.
Omg I was actually kind of shocked that a shield of some sort wasn't overwhelmingly the favourite, I beat it for the first time with the Zeus shield and figured the ability to block was just so OP that it was basically playing on easy mode. It's cool to see how much variety in playstyle there really is in this game.
JUST GOT IT!!! My previous record was 15 heat with the fists so this was a major step-up. I only have a maximum of 6 heat for all the other weapons, which is a bit embarrassing. It took me probably around 10 or so attempts to get the 32 heat. One time I got to hades phase 2 and died due to the deadline 😓
I used Chiron in my 32H run and I think what makes Chiron SO good is it's safe, versatile, and powerful _before_ you get any hammers. It's a fantastic weapon by itself, especially since the homing special lets you just defeat enemies one by one from a safe distance if you have to, and then after you add some hammers, it becomes pretty busted for anyone who's skilled enough to tackle 32H.
My first 32 was Achilles spear so I ran 5 minute deadline. It was close, but a lvl 4 aphro attack+ 3 athena cast w/ Parting Shot did the trick. I was running Routine 2 and 1 Approval Process to avoid Jury/Forced Overtime so it definitely wouldn't have been a run that I could replicate consistently.
I had been trying for a few weeks to get 32 heat down with Hera bow, (going for a aphro or similar high damage on the cast + divine dash) and just wasn't able to make it happen. I was playing using a wireless control (when it was wired it would disconnect every few seconds) and could swear it was dropping inputs or lagging. No one believed me. I went out and bought a brand new controller so I could play with a wired connection and beat 32 on my second attempt on a perfectly average luck run. I was equally happy to have beaten 32 heat as to prove that I was right!
Heartbreak Strike with Privileged Status and Blinding Flash-Dash is sooo fun and so powerful on Arthur, my 32H clear was that with Shadow Slash, Chaos Ambush and Myrmidon Bracer so I basically turned the game from a hacknslash into this dancelike dueling sim I don't even have a term for. I even got a Chaos Defiance I didn't actually need for the final fight because I had such a good balance of tank and DPS. Another huge ringer for me was Afro Call because it actually *skips the laser phase* on Dad, he's only coded to begin firing at the outset of that specific pattern so if his lasers get overridden by the Charm effect he will just stand there and let you whale on him even after the effect wears off. No more getting shredded because you mistimed the combo you just keep your gauge ready and fire it off like you're rationing handgun ammo or something.
Looking at the data you collected and your suggestion for 32 heat pact setups, its no wonder I stopped earlier on when it wasn't going well. I'm not having the best time recalling my pact setups, but I know they were quite different than the ones suggested. I may have to give 32 heat another shot once I finally get through my backlog of games to play.
Well, watching this video told me I'm not ready to do this yet XD. I beat 8 and 16 heat both on second tries and figured 32 heat would probably take a few more attempts than the previous two but was still reasonable (I'm currently at 23 escape attempts and 7 clears). After the first attempt of 32 I realized I was super in over my head and sought out a guide which led me here. I'll come back in a couple dozen clears and give it a shot again then.
I don’t have the victory screen, but my first and only 32 heat clear I feel like I cheesed with zag fists and plume - along with my favorite trio of gods for that build: Zeus on attack, Aphro on special, and Dio on call, with smoldering air. The dps of that combo is intense, and with the plume, zag fists, and the mirror giving Dodge for dashing, you just don’t get hit.
My first 32 heat win was using demeter fists with zeus. My reasoning was fairly simple- tempo and flexibility. Zeus demeter fists provide a ton of tempo super early with one boon- zeus' attack. They're hammer independent, and god/boon flexible. High tempo early on helps me to clear fast in the beginning to get ahead of tight deadline. I also find them very fun...major points for that. I particularly like adding aphrodite into the mix for high heat runs as I highly value the weakness, and I also really like the aphro/zeus duo boon. Artemis can be great, athena can work well- decent on the dash and special, dio's call is really spicy if you're locked into taking him at some point, poseidon also isnt ruled out because he combos well with zeus. You can kind of just go with the flow and see where luck takes you without needing to spend a ton of rerolls looking for that one specific boon. The only gods I think don't particularly work with with the playstyle are demeter(ironically) and ares, and even they aren't entirely irredeemable. You're also not necessarily bound to pomming a particular boon to high heaven. I love using chiron, in fact it was my favorite weapon for a long time, but the playstyle can feel real same-y to me after a run or 2 -> aphro attack, dio special -> pom the special to oblivion -> hope for dio/aphro duo boon and relentless volley and/or piercing volley -> profit.
Haelian, one of the best realizations I had was that if players go Chiron/Dionysus it is actually a smart idea to have no time limit at all and instead boost health, overtime and enemy density. While it wouldn't fit every aspect it fits with fast ranged Dio because players can dodge around while Dio ticks damage against the targets and there's no time pressure, so dodge as often as you need and take your time.
What I did was trust in my playstyle, find out something wasn't working, then I experimented, found a comfortable spot and beat it. Didn't took me very long. My advice: do the same, the data on the video shows a lot of variance, which is a testament to how every build is possible, it's probably all about sticking to your guns. So for strategy, I'm in the field of the aggressive players. To me, aggressiveness boils down to knowing your cycle and crunching numbers. Maximizing damage equals doing your cycle with as little pause as possible, which is "kinda" at odds with reacting to the enemies. I say "kinda" because all cycles include dashes or defensive maneuvers so you usually learn how to fit those with reacting to the screen. However the game is still super hectic, the screen is fireworks and the pace is smash melee fast, so trading with the enemies is cool when you know the numbers favor you. By this, it's easy to see that I favored rail or fists, and that I avoided all pacts that messed with the math (hard larbor, calisthenics, extra enemies, less healing, etc). I also valued fun, and I loved extreme measures so I just maxxed it out cause fuck it. I think I started out with max deadline and forced overtime too, cause all in all it allowed me to stay away from the top of the pact list which ended up being a bad call. I think I ended up experimenting with approval process and ended up tanking a couple points in hard labor, lasting consequences, maybe jury summons but I doubt it. So this was my journey. If you play more defensively, you probably love bow and shield so just take them. Be not afraid of trusting your preferred weapon and strategy. I won with Eris rail with Zeus and Athena, easiest smoothest brain playstyle in the game cause 32 heat pulls no punches so why would I? Do the same, take that poison special Chiron, that Aphro cast Beowulf, just make sure to go all in and pick the pact that maximizes your playstyle.
Late to the party, but I just beat 32 heat yesterday for the first time, without watching this guide because i wanted to do it blind. Buid was as it follows: Nemesis sword, athena/ares synergies (didn't get merciful end) with as much Hermes support as i could find. Got some Demeter chill thrown in there too and i think one artemis boon (?) Both nova hammers also. Pact settings were: Labor 3, Lasting 0, Fee 1, Summons 1, Extreme 3, Calisthenics 1, Benefits, Customs and Overtime max, Security and Inspection to 0, Approval process 1 and Deadline 1 (could have gone 2 ngl). I used to have more jury summons and lasting consequences and no calisthenics but it was too much multitasking for my taste so i tweaked a few things eventually. My entire build revolved around making sure i could dodge Asterius and Hades' spins effortlessly, closing distance quickly and proc the doom while dashing away. Cleared on attempt 152, I stalled a lot since i did low heat streaks for titan blood farming as well as 16 heat with every weapon before starting 32 heat attempts. I could have done it earlier but wasn't in a hurry. Time to finally watch the video to see how different the meta is
oh wow only 2.2% nemesis users I didn't expect it to be high but i'm still surprised it's not top 10. I picked it simply because it's my favorite aspect in the game
I've been trying to finish 32 heat with your video, then another pact, then my pact idea... still haven't beat it after more than 100 attempts (I did 390 runs in the game and I first tried the 32 heat at 253). However, as someone who has a lot of difficulties playing with a lot of weapons (the bow and gun) and is what we can call a bad player (I am REALLY bad at video games, all video games), I'm still happy of my 16 heat run, and I hope I will someday be able to finish a 32 run !
The recommended 32 heat setups always ended up with me getting ground down over the course of the run, having a bad build and running out of DDs by the time I was in Styx. So, in a moment of frustration, I tried this instead: 20% hard labor, 80% convenience fee, EM4, benefits package +2, middle management, forced overtime +40%, and 5 min tight deadline. A nearly perfect Zeus Eris build later and I melted EM4 dad. I think it was mostly luck and I went back to playing around in the low 20 heat range that is more comfortable to me after that. It was also run 321, but some how I missed the Skelly statues as unlockables until I was at about 300 runs, I just thought 32 was an arbitrary speedrun category before that.
After trying every other weapon and aspect dozens of times, the first time I gave spear a shot on 32 heat I got the win finally. Hades aspect, Demeter on attack, Artemis on dash, serrated point for hammer and it was a surprisingly very easy win. Still haven't beaten 32 heat with any other weapon.
As someone who's not attenpted 32 heat, and instead just slowly leveled up heat on all weapons 1 at a time till I moved on from Hades, it surprises me to see Extreme Measures 4 so low. It's one of the first pacts I've maxed, and I never even considered dropping it.
Ok, I can't keep quiet about this any longer. My easiest run at 32 heat is Zag Shield through a dash attack. Even with extreme measures 4. Poseidon's Dash is good damage from the start of the run. The shield's ability to push enemies back goes well with its rapture status. The best boon for this build is Hermes Sprint. Ideally, add Delivery as well. Towards the end of the run, you should also increase the attack damage. Dashing Wallop from Hammer and Chaos can help a lot with this. This build is very easy to control and you can fully concentrate on the behavior of the enemies. By the way, Zag Bow is also one of the strongest Aspects in the game in my opinion.
I got pretty close with a Chiron Zeus legendary build which definitely had the DPS, but I choked on EM4 Hades. I beat it eventually with Beowulf + Artemis cast + Mirage Shot.Took one rank of routine inspection, EM4 and my benefits package was at only one rank because some enemies become so scary with calistenics plus damage control.
Chiron is my favorite aspect because of how easy and relatively safe it is. It just feels natural for me to use compared to other aspects which can feel a little awkward.
Well, I feel some vindication that the core pact I've been suggesting to people on the subreddit, is basically the median pact with damage control removed, and then giving people options for how to make up the last 6 heat, whether that be FO2, TD3 or the LC4 stubborn defiance route. It was definitely surprising to see how few clears used spear :(. Then again even though it's my favourite, I didn't even do my first clear with it, that was Rama with dio on the special. Can;t remember if it was artemis or aphro on the attack.
I had been using Demeter Fists a lot already to try and get a personal best time, and managed to clear 32 heat with them on my 4th attempt I think. The damage output is insane with Zeus attack which made forced overtime much less of a problem and I don’t think I even used one of my death defiances.
I am so glad the developers didn't make an achievement for 32 heat, I had to really struggle just to get the 16 heat. And on my second playthrough I cheesed it with the 10th clear
My favourite pact has to be heightened security. It reminds me to stay out of traps (which I’ve died to more times than I’d like to admit) and just generally makes the game feel so much more fun.
When I first beat 32 heat, I used Rama and a lightning special build. This was made easier by building up to it through increasing heat levels. On another note, I strongly disagree with the recommendation to max out both Hard Labor and Lasting Consequences. This seems like one of the more difficult ways to beat 32 heat. In general, I think 32 heat is easier with Death Defiance rather than Stubborn Defiance. I think Stubborn Defiance quickly becomes better above 32 heat, though.
Oh I’m surprised Beo Shield wasn’t more popular. That’s how I beat 32 Heat. Poseidon cast, then get Zeus to fish for the duo boon that adds lightning to your Poseidon boons. Idr the exact Pactset up, I really liked the speedrun timer so that would be at full level, and I’d have 3 levels of the boss Pact. I can really see why Chiron bow was the most popular tho. Get the right special boon and you can really stack up a debuff. Don’t have to bullrush right into a boss either.
I just finished 32 heat for the first time (I'm Artethrax on the Discord, the person who did double approval process). After watching this video, I'm surprised by how many things I did differently. Part of why I'm commenting is also checking if I should submit my victory screen through the email in the description or if posting it on the Discord was fine. And if the Discord is fine, should that maybe also be in the description?
The first time I beat the game at 32 heat (and the last, never again, I'm comfortable staying at 20) was with Zeus shield with a fully maxxed up Zeus special (static discharge, splitting bolt, the whole shebang). It's the only weapon I managed to finish the run with (after god forbids how many attempts). I forgot how I setup the pact of punishment, though, but I believe I did threw in at least 1 underworld custom.
i have yet to beat 32 heat without god mode, but i'm determined to get there! my dexterity sucks though, so hard labour and lasting consequences seem way too daunting since i'm bad at dodging. gotta say i'm shocked and a bit discouraged that achilles spear has such a low clear rate! it's my favourite weapon, and i assumed its sheer damage numbers were enough to get through 32 heat for the average player. certainly gonna rethink some of my strategies on this!
Hey, if Achilles spear is your weapon of choice, there's no reason you can't use it. It's a powerful aspect too and plenty of people have cleared 32 heat with it (although not for the first time, apparently).
I Think my first 32 heat clear was with either Arthur+Lambent Plume (pre-nerf) or Zag Fists + Lambent Plume (pre-nerf). giving like incredibly high dodge chance by the end of the run, especially if you the high rarity dodge boons from Hermes. Basically 'tank' builds
Damn, the weapons surprised me. Achilles is my favorite aspect and yet only 1.5% used it, that's crazy 🤯 I wonder if I will be able to do it, I just beat 13 heat this week
I love Achilles spear too but I can see why it's under-represented: not because it's bad, but because it's difficult. To me, 32 heat came down to doing what I was most comfortable with. It's easy to end up being comfortable with rail like I did, but if you're fine with the more technical playstyle of the spear, using Chiron or Eris just because most people had success with it might be more crippling than good to you. Consistency is key to 32 heat, so you wanna minimize anything that could go wrong and I think the data shows it, with the high amount of variance and the top aspects being the easiest to be consistent with.
@@rafaelbordoni516 It might sound strange, but I like Achilles because the spear is the easiest weapon for me 😅 and I like the teleport to the spear location thing and the huge attack bonus I get when I use it every 4 attacks, this combo of 4-5 attacks, special and repeat is basically craved into my soul already. The rail on the other hand is my least favorite weapon... I hate the fact that I need to click R, I run out of bullets in the middle of a combo just before killing the enemy and the fact that it doesn't stun is so lame... my highest heat with the rail is 9, I can't beat EM4 Hades with it and any rail aspect except for Eris is an auto lose for me 😓
@@jo40p3dr0 Hahaha, cool! My playstyle revolved more around crunching numbers. I remember I figured out on the Skelly room that fists had the highest dps of the game, with super fast attacks each dealing 15 dmg, putting it in a unique spot where it works with every god cause it has high dps so +% dmg boons work because they are based on base damage while being fast so it still works with Zeus and Dio, in particular, it's 15 base dmg means common Zeus' +10 per hit beats out every other +% boon with a +66% increase, unlike rail that exclusively worked with Zeus and Dio but not the rest due to low base dps. You could take fists with Hermes plume and just rushdown enemies ignoring what they do, just trade if you need to ensure you'll make it in time and you'll stack that dodge chance. Put in a weaken boon and 30% less damage becomes insane. Because it works with all gods, the lack of god keepsakes wasn't so risky, and it taught me to think through every door, to pause, look at my current boons and the codex, to control the % chance of finding boons I needed. That's kinda how I learned, but Zag fists + plume is still my favorite. It turned me into a super rushdown that plans ahead way too much to stack the numbers in my favor with the least amount of execution on my part, that's peak Eris rail. That in mind, you can see how Achilles becomes harder, as spear is the lowest base dps in the game and you can't stack the numbers, you need a cheesy plan. From my experience, casts are where it's at for Achilles, especially casts that don't stick, but you need to pay attention to where you're teleporting to with the spear, which takes focus away from maximizing your cycle. In particular, I think a laser cast with stygian soul might be among the best builds in the game, it just requires a bit of luck to pull off consistently on 32 heat but if you're good with the spear, you can make do. Keep playing and experimenting, you'll figure it out.
@@rafaelbordoni516 I like the fists as well, mainly Demeter, but I didn't know it was the highest DPS in the game 🤯 that's interesting to know, thanks for the info! And I haven't tested a cast build with the spear yet, I'll try it next time! I usually take a high percentage damage increase boon to the attack like Demeter, Athena or Aphrodite. My highest heat win at the moment was using Athena's attack, Ares special, merciful end, multiple Ares' boons to increase doom damage, Athena's boon for exposure to trigger privileged status and 6% critical chance Pressure Points.
I would be one of those maniacs who did 32 heat with nemesis aspect, 40% forced overtime and 5:00 tight deadline. I felt everything in slow motion for weeks after beating the challenge hahaha
Just beat 32 heat with the banana pact and Chiron bow with dionysus on the special. 26th clear, 66 hours tracked on steam. Before I was using jury summons, forced overtime, and such, but I have to say I much prefer the max hard labor max lasting consequences pacts, and really do not enjoy dealing with massive amounts of enemies. Max tight deadline was rough, I lost the previous run to it (or more accurately, playing extremely recklessly to try to finish a boss fight before the timer ran out) and the run I won I ran out of time in the last hades phase (although to my surprise it just dinked me for 5 damage a few times so I won anyway xd). This was my 3rd attempt on this pact, and I did 5ish 16-31 heat runs before it. Bit surprised that I ended up so low relative to the average number of clears since I mostly just play trackmania & card games xd. Information on the pacts and such from the internet definitely helped, although I probably should look more into strats for going faster because I don't think the timer is supposed to be this much of a problem. Anyway I might try 32 heat on the other weapons/aspects, might try for extreme measures 4, but this was kinda the final challenge for me (although it turned out a bit easier than expected once I got rid of jury summons & overtime.) I think its also just way more fun to avoid taking damage while going fast than it is to deal with swarms of garbage.
I waited until I got 1 through 15 heat with every weapon, did my first 16 with Demeter Fists (ME build), then just said screw it and went straight for 32 after that. Got lucky on my first attempt. Or honestly I should say "first" because I did a couple test runs and then "gave up" just to do some recon on what the initial boon would be and figure out a pact setup that seemed doable. Luckily the first room was Athena and she was offering the Dash, so I landed on Hestia Rail + Broken Shackle to start (with the hope of running into Aphrodite or Artemis on attack since I knew I would probably want Acorn for Power Couple and Dad), and maxing out the first four pacts. The plan was basically just to take it slow and not take damage as much as possible, and that's pretty much how it went! I did end up getting Artemis attack and mostly just leaned hard into Athena and lucked out in getting Rocket Bomb (with Athena on special) for AOE. With the 7-minute deadline I made it with over 3 minutes to spare.
I’ve been trying Poseidon sword with Zeus, Poseidon or Aphro cast, fishing for Exit Wounds/Chaos/Hermes cast bumps). I got to Elysium, but died in Asphodel several times. 32 heat isn’t a lot of fun. It is a lot of suffering though, which, hey, doesn’t break immersion.
It's wild to me that so many people started with Forced Overtime. I do everything I can to avoid investing in it since it compounds negatively with everything EXCEPT Tight Deadline (that I can do on 5 minutes, anyway, at normal speed). Surprised so few chose Approval Process, too-by the end of a good run, you end up getting 5 or so boons that don't do anything for you. But I guess overcoming psychological hurdles and getting your emotional support purples has a profound effect on people.
I never got an image of doing it but I used the build and mostly the same heat you used for your recent video with the Hera bow with the sub 10 time (My chat asked for help with 32 heat on the bow but then this happened...). I think I might have reduced tight deadline 1 level and I feel like I remember using approval process instead. I did it first try with that setup with a few failed attempts before that trying to use the Eris rail
It's been a couple of years, but I know I had level 2 timer, and I'm pretty sure I didn't have traps because I'm a clumsy player. I think I used shield because you can tank through damage. But I might have used the bow with the multishot cause it burns through those damage control. I left myself some healing for oopsies, but cranked enemies and damage. I don't think I was able to handle enemies at their fastest.
I am slooooooowly climbing up the heat ladder, (at 12 with bow, fists, and spear atm). I feel like a problem i have is that i am not at all comfortable with the other weapons, specifically rail and shield - I’ve only ever done 1 or 2 heat with those and it was a STRUGGLE. That means I’m running low on titan blood though haha, any tips?
How did I beat 32 heat? I used your pact recommendations and one of your recommended builds. I no longer remember which specifics I ended up with on my winning 32 heat run... but it was probably zeus boons and a gun? or maybe the fists? The big leg up I think was your pact recommendations.
Tight deadline 0 is insane to me. I jumped to tight deadlines 2 basically immediately after beating Hades for the first time. Its easier than facing the survive 45s rooms. Still only less than 20 total wins so far, but already beat Heat 8 with lv 1 Gilgamesh. I can see myself just jumping to 16 then 32 with it, or maybe Arthur or a shield. Still haven't figured out how to play the ranged weapons yet, but melee with tidal or divine dash just feels way faster and safer. IDK how people play ranged when missing a shot is so punishing and you lose out on damaging with your dash.
i just beat 32 heat with 11 clears! I played the game a lot 2 years ago and struggled immensely with heat, I think my highest was 20 something and could never do 32, but I recently replayed the game and beat it for the first time this is amazing chaos shield for the win bbyyyy
also beat it on my 2nd try but got WAY too lucky as I got patroclus to replenish all 3 death defiances and got almost all my boons epic rarity and exactly the ones I wanted despite approval process so thats that
My first 32 heat clear was a weird one. I had failed a few attempts with different weapons and had just completely thrown an attempt with Arthur in the Hades fight, so I was pretty frustrated. Started a run with Zeus shield and from the start it didn't go well. Every biome was a real chore to get through and it just felt like the run was destined to die. And then it just didn't. Was a weird feeling seeing Hades fall after being so frustrated for the last hour or so. I got my win with Arthur in the next 32 heat run I tried with it though :)
It's always surprised me how much heightened security is hated, I always thought it was pretty easy to avoid most/if not all traps (bar the lava in Lernie chamber). ;I do find sometimes it can be run ending if you're not careful (in Styx/against Hades), But overall it is pretty easy to play around and just be extremely careful/avoid being near traps at all. Personally i've found it to be better than taking plenty of the other options when at 31/32 Heat
Also, I've never seen 1 approval process to be a huge detriment to run success; its basically just having worse luck and therefore if you keep trying you will inevitably get good RNG and see no negatives to taking that pact
Hey, I’m considering going for 32 heat for the first time on Guan Yu. I just beat 8, 16, and 24 over the course of 5 attempts (disregarding give-ups, with those in mind it’s more like 10) and I’m wondering if I should go for 32 heat next or if I should slow down and play another weapon. I absolutely love Guan Yu and I have a basic idea of what I need throughout the runs (Aphrodite special, charged skewer, Athena dash, hermes extra dashes, optionally Ares attack+duos), but I want some feedback on my plan, because I don’t really know how to structure the mirror for GY I have extreme measures 3, tight deadline 3, benefits package 2, underworld customs, middle management, approval process 1, forced overtime 1. I don’t know where to get the extra few points or what things I should remove. I know I can’t fight EM hades and I’ve only fought EM thesterius twice, one time being responsible for a death because of the spin move. Using very typical mirror, except for ruthless reflex supremacy I don’t have all the keepsakes or companions maxed so I’m using bouldy, aphrose for Tartarus, then depending on how well everything is going, quill until hades or mompom to Cerberus to acorn. Thoughts?
My first and easiest clear was Chiron with a hangover build (epic hangover special + both aphro and ares duo) and pact options that made it a battle of attrition that just buffed the enemies but didn't debuff me. Like jury summons, calisthenics etc and ditching the timer all together, also didn't touch boon or mirror reducing conditions. Then I just played a "poison them and run away" strat and beat hades with two DDs left.
Tell me the story of how you beat 32 heat or tried to! Check the description for how to submit your 32 heat victory screen to add to the data.
I literally jumped from like 9 heat straight to 32. I used ur 32 heat guide, with eris rail and beat it first try I got hella lucky
Aphro on Arthur's attack baby!
Chaos Shield with doom stacking was the way I finally got it. Was playing the game pretty much blind, so my pact setup was really janky.
The person using No Aspect Rail is undeniably a gigachad
As someone who does analytics for a living I'm estimating the time you spent both gathering, but also formatting this data in a way (much harder than it looks with so many variables) to tell a compelling story as "significant", so thank you, and great work . Also, very nice job on telling a compelling story with all of these choices.
Thanks so much! I couldn't have done it without some great community members holding my hand. Zhengr did all of the beautiful charts you see.
I got RIDICULOUSLY lucky on my first attempt- went with plume Zag fists and somehow managed to stumble across ME. Managed to get 60% dodge (thanks to an extra 10% from Hermes) which pretty much made the final fight a joke even when walking in with 1DD left which I didn't lose.
for me was the same, I got lucky enough to get Exclusive Access, Sea Storm and Calculated Risk and the epic hermes dodge while using the plume
Can confirm all pacts and guides mentioned in this video work well
Source: I used Haelian's first one for ideas years ago when starting out and I wrote one of them lol
Hahaha
I did the opposite. I keep forced overtime at 40 so that I get used to it. Kind of what I do now with em4
Bruh I can't even stand 1 stack of forced overtime 😓😓
@@SlickWillHermsted What i did was beat the game with only forced overtime turned on. Then i gradually added in the other heat until it was the new normal. Now if i ever turn it off I feel like i'm waiting forever and have time to get a sandwich before the enemies load in. Let me know if that helps
The minotaurs charge is actually impossible to dodge sometimes at 40%.
Just to be clear, I’m talking about 32 heat.
"you don't really need to know the mechanics in much depth - just move and shoot" yep. that's how I got my first (and only) 32 clear. A glass cannon that ran away and bursted down everything I could. My boss fight mechanics are pretty good, though.
Haelian the spreadsheet god
Just finished my 32 heat all aspects today, gotta say that I agree with what was found here. Bits and pieces change per weapon but this is spot on.
Thank you so much!
Great story!
The video quality has been insane recently man, great job. Counting down to Q2 2024!
Got my first 32 heat with Artemis special build on the Aspect of Lucifer. It took me many attempts, but I was SO HAPPY when I finally did it
So I didn’t actually have the confidence to do 32 heat until starting a second save file when I got back into the game recently. I used the Eris rail and stubborn defiance with a bit of help from Achilles and his lover giving me an 80 percent heal on every room. I personally found it fulfilling but I think I’ll be sticking to a lower heat for the average run cause I just find that more relaxing. Just pushing up the heat level on each weapon to 32 heat and then I’ll see from there 😊
I did 32 heat literally like 3 days ago. Nice video it was interesting to see that amount of info just about 32 heat first clears.
Thanks for all the hard work everyone, the video was very interesting.
(not sure if anything else matters)
Everything else was chosen based on "does this help me burst down enemies faster?" The reason I avoided forced overtime was because I felt everyone just got on top of me too quick.
Cute story, I like it.
Pact was Lasting Consequences 2, Convenience Fee 2, Extreme Measures 3, Benefits Package 2, Middle Management, Underworld Customs, Forced Overtime 2, Damage Control 1, and Tight Deadline 3
As a side note, Chiron bow was probably my favorite aspect, before I started playing again.
I watched this video, started new run and got my first 32 heat completed! Definitely sending you my screenshot
Well, bold of me to call it a build, I chose weird conditions of Pact and only filled my attack and special :D
With shield I figured if people beat 64 heat with zeus+zeus it’d help with 32, right?
Thank you!
Hi Haelian, I literally just beat 32 heat before watching this video! I'm gonna be using all ur insights to do it with all weapons
Quality work as usual!
I'm sure the devs have some great data collected from players, maybe we can convince them to showcase some eventually!
I beat 32 Heat thanks to your advice. Beowulf + Dionysius = Win. Thanks!
This vid is definitely a good starting point but there's just so many combos that you can't go over the nitty gritty here, but I still appreciate the value of everything being talked about now that I know the challenges of each weapon (and importantly, each aspect)
Thanks for *all* of the super explained videos you've put out, it made 32 Heat a lot easier for me than I realized haha
Great video as usual man. Love the content!!
I just started playing, beat the game today. Now it is time to embark on the journey to 32 heat!
My first 32 heat clear was a classic Hera + Crush shot build. For me, the most important change was using Stubborn Defiance instead of Death Defiance.
My first 32 was Achilles spear so I ran 5 minute deadline. It was close, but a lvl 4 aphro attack+ 3 athena cast w/ Parting Shot did the trick. I was running Routine 2 and 1 Approval Process to avoid Jury/Forced Overtime so it definitely wouldn't have been a run that I could replicate consistently.
such a great work
I had been trying for a few weeks to get 32 heat down with Hera bow, (going for a aphro or similar high damage on the cast + divine dash) and just wasn't able to make it happen.
We getting to Hades with this one 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Looking at the data you collected and your suggestion for 32 heat pact setups, its no wonder I stopped earlier on when it wasn't going well. I'm not having the best time recalling my pact setups, but I know they were quite different than the ones suggested. I may have to give 32 heat another shot once I finally get through my backlog of games to play.
great video, thank you for putting in the work 🎉
Well, watching this video told me I'm not ready to do this yet XD.
Buid was as it follows:
Nemesis sword, athena/ares synergies (didn't get merciful end) with as much Hermes support as i could find. Got some Demeter chill thrown in there too and i think one artemis boon (?)
Both nova hammers also.
Time to finally watch the video to see how different the meta is
oh wow only 2.2% nemesis users
I didn't expect it to be high but i'm still surprised it's not top 10.
It's a fun pact for sure but adds quite the challenge to 32!
I have a new reason to clear 32 heat and that's to provide my victory screen to Haelian for science!!
YASSS
Got my 32 heat clear with Aspect of Lucifer
that no-aspect Rail clear is crazy...
Hell yes, Zag bow is epic on 32 heat.
11:50 he is THAT GUY
You can do it!
@@Haelian thank you!! :D
@@jo40p3dr0Tip for the rail that might change your life: rebind the reload button. I suggest L1/LB.
I would be one of those maniacs who did 32 heat with nemesis aspect, 40% forced overtime and 5:00 tight deadline. I felt everything in slow motion for weeks after beating the challenge hahaha
I will try now, will post results soon 😊
I never recommended 40% FO prior but seems like a lot of people managed some how!
Oooohhhh Celeste background music 🎵🎵
For Eris rail you can just throw Zeus on the attack, then just get as much extra Zeus as possible and murder everything
How did I beat 32 heat? I used your pact recommendations and one of your recommended builds. I no longer remember which specifics I ended up with on my winning 32 heat run... but it was probably zeus boons and a gun? or maybe the fists? The big leg up I think was your pact recommendations.
I played it on god mode and damn it was still super hard. I died a lot. Thanks for the tips.
With that no victory screenshot rule I never posted my 32 Heat Guan Yu victory.
I hereby accept your screenshot.
I played the game a lot 2 years ago and struggled immensely with heat, I think my highest was 20 something and could never do 32, but I recently replayed the game and beat it for the first time this is amazing chaos shield for the win bbyyyy
also beat it on my 2nd try but got WAY too lucky as I got patroclus to replenish all 3 death defiances and got almost all my boons epic rarity and exactly the ones I wanted despite approval process so thats that
Kinda surprised Zeus aspect shield wasn't used more. That's my favourite aspect with chiron being the second
Well, my first (and so far only, since I haven't done any further attempts) was with Lucifer, and that was never even mentioned lol.
It got 2 clears!
I absolutely love Guan Yu and I have a basic idea of what I need throughout the runs (Aphrodite special, charged skewer, Athena dash, hermes extra dashes, optionally Ares attack+duos), but I want some feedback on my plan, because I don’t really know how to structure the mirror for GY
I have extreme measures 3, tight deadline 3, benefits package 2, underworld customs, middle management, approval process 1, forced overtime 1. I don’t know where to get the extra few points or what things I should remove. I know I can’t fight EM hades and I’ve only fought EM thesterius twice, one time being responsible for a death because of the spin move.
Using very typical mirror, except for ruthless reflex supremacy
I don’t have all the keepsakes or companions maxed so I’m using bouldy, aphrose for Tartarus, then depending on how well everything is going, quill until hades or mompom to Cerberus to acorn.
Outside of that, I also found Achilles hunting blades build to be veeeery easy, but you have to get super lucky
