I feel like you guys been at this new shop for years. Shout out to the old shop for the OG subscribers
Heritage Car Style follow since badass s2k. Also a s2k owner from NZ
Those lighted shift knobs are worth money.... You can also upgrade the bushing in the shift carrier. Bright alluminum piece you had. Garagistic sells bushings. The selector rod is what makes the most slop and that can be upgraded as well.
If you're looking to tighten the shifter boot on to the shifter, use a ziptie on the part you cut/rolled. Worked for me!
2:26 “Feels so much stiffer and nicer than the sloppy stock one” that’s what she said 😣😣
great vid 👍
to all your friends but you
😛
Jay Sea 😂😂
i cant believe you guys didn't do headers, on my old one headers and tune really woke it up.
Same here. Which tune did you get?
Shark Injector
@@karpetcm I heard that's a good tune.
I got the Gintani tune to go with my euro headers and cats. So far, it's excellent.
If the trumpet tubes haven't fucked up in 200,000miles then I can't see them failing. The Samco ones do look cool
Nice to see someone actually using a torque wrench. Subbed.
Great work guys, but not gonna lie that shift knob looks like a buttplug...
They are hella dumb🤦🏽♂️why would you buy a short shifter and then put a tall ass shift knob on it? Completely just like canceled out the shortening of the shift
Something tells me I'm gonna buy an e46 one day and appreciate these videos more
Just like when I got my s2k and watches all your old vids
Drop that shifter and get an RTD shifter or CAE. BTW the ball size is not a counterweight.....
you guys are really going in on that m3 jebus
That new shift knob looks... specialist 😳🤣
If you guys don’t get a CAE or any kind of floor mounted shifter, getting a dual shear selector rod really helps shorten the throws and tighten up the feel
I cant believe you guys don't have a million plus subscribers. My favorite channel by far.
Best shifter setup for the E46 M3, hands down, is an E60 M5 shifter with the stock E46 knob. Perfect throw and height.
^ for street, of course
Editing and music getting much much better guys. Love it.
3:39 The front subframe to frame bolts are 81 ft/lbs torque, not 57 ft/lbs as you torqued them to.
The internet has mislead us yet again!
I love PT's new "Billy Club" shifter! That looks tough! You guys are making this car so nice that it almost feels like a good daily! Can't wait to see her in action! ✌😎
gr8 work guys! only those who love their cars can do all the things that you are doing to make it more reliable. I love the e46 m3 but it is a bit complicated enginewise and the rear frame splitting in half is a total disappointment for such good handling/responsive car. Keep up the excellent work!
It's funny how these bushings and other parts go down the chain. I have E36 M3 FCABs on my E30. But to upgrade your E46 M3, you go with poly. Great to see this thing coming together. Gives me a little bit of hope to actually buy a well used E46 M3.
I agree, self lubricating feels great
Im so Happy for you guys~@2:45
interesting that your are doing up a convertible rather than a hardtop especially with the added weight disadvantage
Love the yellow drop-top drift car!
Wahooo!!! Killing that Monday morning boredom.
Another great video guys! I’ve been following the series closely as I am a new E 46 M3 convertible owner with a six speed of course! Next time check out auto solutions SSK. Ronald is the owner. He is very nice guy very knowledgeable he has been building his custom kits for decades.
I’m going with one of his SSK kits. It comes in 20%, 30% or 40% reduction‘s. He also has many other trick parts. Including selector rods and anything else you can imagine.
good stuff ! I want a fully loaded Garage !!!
floor mounted shifter woulda been better - CAE, RTD etc.
Excellent work guys!! I'm excited to see how this bmw drifts!
I'm feeling the same transition how we went from mechanical hard drives for computers to solid state ones and now from ice engines to EV's. Much more complicated just to turn the wheels on a car with ice. 10 to 20 yrs from now ice cars will be ancient obsolete technology.
You guys seen hoonigan m3 and his short shifter looks sick
Chris Smith vins m3? I think he runs a CAE shifter
Good video bois can’t want to see it in action !
I like BMW, but the amount of effort that goes into it compared to my Miata is daunting.
davidkrocks rah he said they had trouble too! It’s daunting !
Do a CAE shifter for the e46
Is that the first time I've heard Pete curse on camera (while describing the air intake boot issues) 😆
Should contact Jeb at Cutworm Industries, he fabricates BMW stuff, shortshifters, hydros and everything else pretty much along with alot more. He has small YT channel maybe check it out. Keep up the sick vids!
good stuff, thumbs up
Why not just go with a CAE shifter?
Approximately how would a Indi shop charge to install short shifter?
tbh i thought pete would have got the CAE Ultra shifter for the extra hot boi points
if my shifter in my m3 has some play and is kinda wobbly, will a short shifter make that play and wobble feel go away or will I need a shifter rebuild kit
Do those polyutheraine bushings get loose over time? Does anyone know if they last long?
They are a lifetime part in fairness
Nice 👍
What rear view mirror are you guys using?
The front subframe bolts are torqued to 81ft lbs, not 57. Florian has a fantastic PDF for bolt torque on just about every fastener on the E46 M3; m3forum.net/m3forum/showpost.php?p=1067382729&postcount=3
Ask CAE if they know what shifter slop is
Why dinan instead of UUC with DSSR or the RE SSK?
Another great vid! Any k-tuned promo codes?? Need parts for my kswap ek!
yeah u guys definitely bought a knob huh lol
0:51 excuses, excuses Pete...
It’s because racecar.
Ok cool build-off but when are we going to see a beard-off??? We want to know how Dave grooms the perfect beard.
Why didn't you guys just buy a new shift boot? The lighted shift knob you cut was worth $100+ used in good condition...
Cant believe they didn’t even buy ebay headers that dont even cost like $150 for easy 25hp upgrade that work perfectly fine smh. They just want everything for free I guess.
buys short shifter for shorter throws.... puts elongated knob for longer throws... makes sense 😂
what a horrible shift knob :(
definitely wouldn't have been my first choice
the ugliest shift knob i have ever seen
CAE shifter or bust
Lol watching him cut the shifter cover made me cringe back to the time I cut mine standard to manual
That shift knob kinda looks like a....
No turbo !?!???!?
*buys short shifter, puts on WAY taller shift knob*🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Short shifter doesnt mean the handle is shorter, the throws are shorter.
sorry, cant stand that shift knob :( stick to original :D
