Pranam , It is a wonderful thing that an English speaker can now receive the teachings of Abhinavagupta in such an entertaining way. Thank you so much for this video and to Mark for his erudition and humour.

interesting running into this... I lived in Benares in the mid 90s. and remember going to Mark's house for lectures. Thanks for posting - and to see he is still a very engaging speaker

This is great ,I had doctrine of vib. Nice to hear directly. Been wondering about "tantra" shavism , KS ,and tibetan 'tantra' connection for decades.

How was Doctrine of Vibration for you? How did you come to find out about that book? And were you able to get it for a reasonable cost? And if so, where from where?

can someone explain why mr. Mark Dyczkowski loudly sing the sanksrit verse with music first before explaining it in english ? does he do that simply so that people who dont have that book know what the sanskrit is before translating or it necessary to chant the sanskrit verses as it has powerful effects or something like that ? did abhinava gupta and other people who wrote books on spirituality or knowledge in sanksrit mention anywhere that we have to or should chant the sanksrit verse first in a poetic way on top of simply reading it in our minds ?

Yeah it is called Mangalacharan ie. invocation: done for the purpose of the successful accomplishment of the good job. Not only Bhagvan Abhinav Gupt but every other Darshanik do this at the beginning of their book {Darshan}.

      translation chants have no effect.
