This is what I call life and living. Wonderful! So good for children to grow up experiencing this. I'm longing for country living, not off the grid as you but still, living far from the city.
What are you doing about the childrens education? You should find out about digging a borehole, you don't have to do it the expensive way, do it jua kali, by getting some locals that know how to do it. You will desparately need water during the dry spells.

You are such a humble and intelligent woman. The way you explain offgrid technology, I guess the modern farm machinery on your homestead is some Canadian influence as well, and above all you seem to be enjoying the rural lifestyle. The kind of knowledge we need in Africa. African Americans who migrate to Africa must learn from this, most of them are just whining about this and that, yet here is a Caucasian girl handling Africa like a Pro.

@@wearehomesteaders1257 I feel sorry for you because unless you and your Kenyan husband have many children to take care of you at old age when you can no longer take care of yourself, you will spend your old age in painful hardship physically and financially. Make no mistake about Kenya - it's a third-world nation lacking the social safety net that most Western countries offer or lacking the comparable quality even if it offers some to its residents. Kenya is also far from being a harmonious society, being divided by regionalism, tribalism, ethnics, religion, politics and, of course, wealth. Unless you are a woman who grew up in rural Canada doing things old-fashioned ways, I doubt your happiness in Kenyan countryside would last.

0:48 recycle the trash, which will create compost for future produce and if you get a bio digester you can use all your food scrap and animal waste as a source of fuel for the bio digester, which in return will provide free gas for cooking and hot water if connected to a boiler. this way you have nearly Zero waste and you continue to live off grid. 👊🏿

We fell in love with the land and didn't have a choice but to homestead because it was off-grid. It's a challenge many days but we also wouldn't have it any other way. This is very much true; I always tell people I'd prefer to live in a third world country than a place like America. We never had solar power because we never knew there was such a thing. We used to burn our trash, we used car batteries to power light bulbs, that Americans use as night light, this was when led was not a thing or not that we knew of. It was a so call difficult life, but I tell you what it was less stressful than worrying about paying this phone bill, paying that bill, when all we had was one land line with the dials. Growing your own food was a huge thing, now these days gen z doesn't want to do this even in third world countries they'd rather kill people to get money than to plant a few trees, we had homeless people but all of these homeless people was fed, because people before us had bought lands and planted a bunch on trees for these people to go and pick and eat, mangoes, rice and so on. I truly miss the times of not having to stress to pay rent of 4k adding up to close to 5 or 6k per month just to live. Oh, btw do you use scrubbing board to wash cloths? those were the days, no need to waste electricity when you can use a scrubbing board with a bucket and natural sunlight.

The more you have, the more stress you also have! I love living simply... I do have a washing boats. My grandmother used to use it back in her day! It's so nice and less stress on your hands

If life is so much better in developing countries, like Kenya, why do so many people from there try to come to America or Canada legally or illegally? On the other hand, why do so few people in developed or advanced countries want to emigrate to the so-called less stressful and more peaceful developing countries, like Kenya? The answer is because life in the developing countries are neither less stressful nor more peaceful.

No, the answer is that different people have different goals, and are motivated by different values

Here in Kenya people survive in the name of living:
-we struggle alot to get what to eat
-we struggle alot to have clothes to cover our bodies
-its a struggle to get a descent shelter to call a home
      Everything is struggling alot
      Everyone works hard not smart
