I started this project with one idea on my mind. I wanted to make a MMV like I've never seen before, following one rule -
no image shall be left static. Original plan was to focus just on animation, camera movement and mood of the song. However, along the way, I started following the story of manga. If you are not familiar with Pandora Hearts you might find this video meaningless. Unfortunately video length was limited by length of song, but even though it's short compared to other AMVs and MMVs, I put a lot of effort in it and I am fully satisfied with outcome. I hope you can enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it!

That's literally part of my childhood, the reason why I draw and also write stories. The characters and the story are so deep. I'm sure Vanitas no Carte will get an anime, and I will buy it.

Pandora Hearts is like one of the best I've read in a while. Like the twists with Eliot and the Head Hunter, Jack, Glen and Lacie... Those were insane. But no one talks about Pandora Hearts for some reason. Even when people talk about Jun Mochizuki, they only really talk about like Vanitas no Karte.

Fantastical, wonderful series full of weirdness where no one stays the same - or alive - until the end.
It's confusing as hecc, but can recommend! Watch anime first cuz yuki kajuras soundtracks are bop,
and then read aaaall the manga. Jun Mochizukis artworks are really pretty.
Edit: It because the anime was never finished ;-; It also brushes off a lot of the details in the manga that make things clearer. The beginning is really well executed though, the japanese voice acting fits so well (Xerxes Break best boi), and Yuki Kajuras composition style mix of synth, orchestra, mysterious and epic and her voice add a really nice feeling/mood..
I get a lot of Pandora hearts vibes from Mochizukis *new series - Case study vanitas.* Art is as beautiful as ever, setting as intriguing as ever, story as convoluted as ever, can recommend!

Ahhhh that was such a darn good story though. Love it, love the characters, everything about it. Even though Mochizuki-san broke my heart about a couple dozen times over with it XD

Kajiura's soundtracks are 10000% awesome, and I totally recommend the anime for that one reason (and the voice acting, the voices fit so well... and the character songs man, those are great too). And the manga, ah. That manga....

The lesson I’ve learnt from Pandora hearts is to not get attached to any of the characters in Vanitas because Mochizuki IS PROBABLY GONNA KILL THEM ALL- Alas im already attached to all the characters so I guess I’ll cherish :v

almost 5 years ago i saw this and thought yeah cool and moved on. like, so many chapters, mmv is cool but i dont have time to read all of that.
writing this at 4am i just finished pandora hearts and came running to this video. i’ve watched it SO many times without knowing anything about manga and.. now everything makes sooo much sense and i can recognize many meaningful things i’ve been missing. best mmv i’ve ever seen

@@allensnea9335 Same!HOnestly all these PeAk ManGas are just mostly overrated/overhyped series(Chainsaw man?JJK?) about berserk it isnt even complete and i dont know how anyone can consider something to be the best when it doesnt even have a resolution that concludes every character arc perfectly(I mean aot ending is a big solid proof).Pandora hearts has it all. Not saying it is the absolute best but there are way to many underappreciated gems which are much better then these so called peak Fiction

Honestly that AOT ending was perfect for the series since so many people misinterpreted its narrative but yeah pandora is like the best manga.
I won't lie saying that I took my time to comment this because I was trying to find the right words to express how I felt when I watched it, but I simply can't put it in words, because there is no way to put such a strong feeling in words, there is no way. Let's start from the fact that I fangirled inside when I saw the amazing combo you made with my favorite manga & one of the songs I love the most in the whole music world, then I saw the chains and I was like : this is gonna be epic, but no I had no idea that it was even more than epic, I couldn't know of course. Now, the part with the text is simply flawless! The camera movement in that is amazing, I loved the way you put the text on the chains and at the end you changed and put in on the screen, and THAT FLAWLESS AND PERFECT Gil's hand and then Gil's body, man there I basically screamed, and I remember that my brother looked a me with a weird face. I have no idea how you could do all those animations in such a divine way and plus making it match with the beat up to 0:25, because I swear I would just go crazy thinking about it. And can we talk about 0:26 to 0:2/? OMG DO YOU EVEN REALISE WHAT YOU DID IN JUST ONE SECOND? Okay, I swear I know you of course can understand what you did because I'm 100% sure you worked really hard on it but I can't stop my fangirling moment I swear, I'm already and addicted ass when it comes to Jack and Oz moments but man you made that one even better than the original. And then Break & Alice animations, they are simply great, I swear, everything is so smooth and at the same time gives you a feeling of mistery, you could tell. The whole atmosphere fits P*ndor* He*rts so much, that it makes me shiver (not gonna lie, I swear). I have also to admit that from 0:29 to 0:34, I felt so many strong emotions (cause as you said you were following the plot and man you did it so well!). The following part is even better! I have to say that not only your camera movement, your animating skills and your smoothness are perfect but also your timing! I swear, it's not off at all, it's very fast but basically it matches perfectly (fast as the song ofc!I don't mean it in any other way). 0:52 was freaking original >w< I loved what you did there, and those Jack/Lacie moments though /cries/. But I actually got emotional the first time I saw it (and even the other times LOL) at 1:00 to 1:03 BECAUSE I JUST SCREAMED "Oh my god, THE CHAINS BREAK TO JACK, YES IT'S PERFECT!" I mean not just for the video, but also for the whole plot (here a Jack addicted, just in case you didn't notice LOL) I swear, that part is just spectacular omg ;w;. But then it comes the Elliot/Leo/Oz part that totally broke my heart, It was so intense - and so epically done! And at 1:09 with the mask that fall down, I think you reached (to my point of view of course) the climax of the video, I swear. It was really great, to the point that I had to rewatch that part so many times before finishing the whole thing. Then the 'story' of Alice, and the way you made her disappear were really beautiful too! The Alice mask/camera movement at 1:19 though, man I have now idea how hard it was (I bet the whole thing was but there you had to move so many things ;WW; but it was really toooooo special). After that everything left me breathless, to be honest the whole video left me breathless. I don't think I was able to show you how many feelings I felt, but I swear I admire this work and I love it so much, I think it's seriously the best Pandora Hearts video I've ever seen and one of the best of the bests MMV I've ever watched. I've watched your video since a long time but I can tell this was your best video from my point of view and really, great job ;w; I hope you the best with your contest! And thank you so much for letting me have the possibility to watch such a masterpiece.

2023 and still coming back to this and the manga itself. man, i have a hard time letting go of this series. but then again, why let go when you can go back to it whenever, no? the excitement has dulled out a bit, but not to the point where i look at it with disinterest. far from it! i still enjoy the manga, (the anime, but hhgahghg manga) AND this edit itself. my fave, even after all this time!

2021 and PH would’ve made it if it was released today, but I’m glad I found it when Studio Xebec animated it because they did a wonderful job and not to mention the VAs. I have high hope for VnC (her second work) but I’m not seeing the Jun Mochizuki feel or impact
i feel you. i wish they couldve included more characters in the opening and ending. the vibe i'm getting right now is that the story is mostly focused on vanitas and noé and that's not how jun mochizuki's manga work at all.

He wanted to see her and make her live a better life showing her light and beauty of the world once again.
and due to that very wish he cursed the whole for 100 whole years! and thus contributed to the creation of this masterpiece of a story!

I think this video shows the difference between two kind of editors: the ones who just edit videos because they wanna be known, and the ones who edit because it's a passion. you obviously belong to the second category; and well, those ones are the editors who, in the end, do something so special, so original, so amazing that they become the most known editors. because no one ever did something like YOU did, and no one will ever do it.
when i saw this, i couldn't believe it. i thought it was not possible to make such perfect movements, so flawless; it really blew my mind, i watched this my eyes wide open (like this: O.O). and then i re-watched it again and again and again...i still can't believe it, but i just can think "oh my god, this must have take such a long time and effort that i can't even imagine it". i hope you're really, really proud of what you made; if you're not, well let me tell you that you should!
I know maybe no one is really proud of his works, we always want more ("i could do this better", "this is not perfect as i wanted it to be", etc) but i personally think that, while, lately, quite all the editors have been editing in the same way (i can't even recognize different editors, since they have the same style...), doing something like this is what makes editing still something enjoyable; you're really an inspiration for everyone, or, at least, you should be!

One of my favorite mangas. SO UNDERRATED
Man. I come back ever so often to watch this again. This manga literally saved my life when I was read it (early 2015 right before it ended). Tbh I didn't have high standards for it since I saw the anime first but I'm always completely taken aback by this video. It's beautiful and I watch it as often as I remember. This manga brought so many emotions and its truly a masterpiece and each character actually gets the development and backstory they deserve. It's beautiful and one of the most amazing Mangas I've ever found nothing has ever quite been the same as this specific manga. It broke me to watch literally all of my favorite characters die and/or suffer through so much trauma and all that happens. The anime did it no justice but honestly ever so often I realize I don't think I'd be able to handle it mentally if this was made in to an anime again from start to finish. It's amazing and so is this edit.

You should definitely read it. The meanings behinde every choice in this mmv becomes much more evident once one knows the motives of the characters. The manga has a slow start but later on its filled with plot twists and the characters are amazing
