You got some very solid points! I think missing out on (specifically with family) would be the hardest part. Even though I'm excited to move abroad and explore, I'm always looking back and trying to be present for my family. A great follow up video would be finding work in Latvia or alternatives that you may have experimented with! I believe I saw an Uruguayan flag on your thumbnail which makes me bring up this question, have you found opportunities for work perhaps in Spanish? I'd assume it would offer higher wages since there isn't a large Spanish community, but I may be mistaken!

I think it would really be motivating for your audience since I’m sure you attract both Spanish and English speakers 😄 I know Hispanics tend to look a lot into other parts of the globe for opportunity, compared to Americans that are beyond happy in their U.S bubble, which is perfectly okay, but they seem to be very conservative with the videos they watch. At some point it made me question if I should entirely switch to a Spanish channel since everything I want to focus on is mainly abroad. Excited to see your new video once it’s out. 🙌🏼
in Latvija, if you want to get into a heart of ancient society, you should join folk dance or singing group. if you are accepted in Dziesmu un Deju svētki, then you are accepted as our own. and you probably have no idea how fun it is. not now. because of corona, of course.
You're right and latvians are awesome singers. Actually when I was younger, I used to be part of a choir for long. I might reconsider this hobby in the future :D

But since I am here I have grown so much in so different ways. I got really big realty check. And I'm super grateful about my family and my home country 😌
Number 3 is so on point... I recently moved to a new town, after living for a long time in a different town on my new country, and after almost 8 months I still barely know any locals. Its so hard to get friends as an adult!

Been an expat for about 5 years now as-well and I related to all of the points. The feeling of always being an outsider, trying to find friends and being homesick are one of the hardest. I agree, people see it as a life full of glamour and travel but many don’t know how much we leave behind. Particularly how much family really means. Yass con el tigre de tegus I want to open the door to Honduras for Latvians wanting to live in their own paradise. It’s a lifelong dream of mine, and we are moving there from Miami in 2025/2026 of course we’ll be in Latvia too, our beach home is intended to be of cultural mixing political value where Latvians can come and contribute to the island of Roatan and in return enjoy the best of Honduras 🇭🇳

Many emotions living abroad you are absolutely right. We're all immigrants and in my view expats is a western / Japanese construct. So called expats are less willing to integrate in local society and culture , and may hang with their home country nationals. Unfortunately many British people are like this when living abroad and may not even bother to learn the local language. Living abroad broadens the mind and shows that we're alike as human beings with fascinating differences in outlook & humour. you miss some funny home food products sometimes , though in London and most British cities you can find food products from almost anywhere in the world . What do you miss as a North American ? From France I miss the Suchard chololate Rocher . Not at all like the cheap nasty superwrapped Ferraro imitations full of nut bits and praline. In France I missed Cross & Blackwell Branson pickle with my Emmenthal baguette 😀

There is no difference between an expat and an immigrant. What Is an Expatriate? An expatriate, or expat, is an individual living and/or working in a country other than their country of citizenship. An expatriate can also be an individual who has relinquished citizenship in their home country to become a citizen of another. 😆 I have a genuine question. Why do certain people coming from certain areas avoid the word "immigrant" so much?
