Hi Mark! Yes, it is up to the World Learning team to decide. A preference is just a final decision. I believe they do take your preference into consideration, but also the courses offered at the host universities - since certain courses are only available in during certain semesters.

Hi, both letters have to be written by TWO different people. Yes, your highschool teacher may write your personal recommendation letter - but she has to write about your personal attributes (i.e. leadership skills, personality, attitude...etc), and not your academic performance.

And yes, you need to submit all the transcripts you have. If they're not in English, you need to get them translated (usually with an official university stamp). What is there to talk about GPA? It is holistic, otherwise, there wouldn't be a need for extra-curricular activities or volunteer experience listing, essay-writing and an interview.

Hi, there's a 2-year rule requirement to stay in your home country. I believe a waiver is possible, you should read up on the J-1 visa rule or ask the US embassy about it.

@@igorcarvalho8253 not to my knowledge, it is a required rule by law for J-1 visa holders. However, there are criteria to a waiver which you can find out more regarding from your U.S. Embassy.

@@reemkamal7779 A portfolio differs from certificates, so it's not relevant. A portfolio is to showcase your past works (i.e. designs, write-ups, project outputs..etc). It's an optional field, so you don't have to submit if you don't have any. However, if it makes you feel better to submit your collection of certificates, by all means, just do it.

@@NaomiNg I was instructed that, once you submit your online form, first there will be a pre-selection process in which you will receive an interview, and from those there will be 5 finalists, does everyone go through this process or just a selected few?
@@isaiasovelar4434 Through my experience, there will be a handful of applicants which will be shortlisted to attend an interview, then a few will be selected. The process might have changed.

What is there to talk about GPA? It is holistic, otherwise, there wouldn't be a need for extra-curricular activities or volunteer experience listing, essay-writing and an interview.
