  • @neverknowsjess
    @neverknowsjess 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Remember people… If you’re wondering why people are so upset about these people making this house into an airbnb, its because they are just two of the tens of thousands of other people currently doing the same thing all over the USA. We are quickly moving to a future where renting will be the only option for most Americans. Many young first time buyers and families can’t find houses to buy because people like this are paying way above asking price and turning them into airbnbs or rental homes. This isn’t a matter of ‘well its their house so they can do whatever they want with it’, its a matter of how most middle and lower class Americans may not ever own a house. If you’re someone who plans on buying a house in the future then you should care about this!

      @@BloodyKnives66 First of all we're currently in a recession and I'm disabled. Not my fault I'm poor in this society, I don't have as many options. I could get into all the economic factors behind how people who own rentals have been competing to intentionally drive the housing market up and up and up, and how this has harmed the lower class (and even lower middle class). You're right though they aren't specifically the problem. The problem is the system that doesn't see things like shelter and food as human rights and... oh no wait politicians are technically considered "other people" too. So that means, yes, other people's greed (monetary greed and greed for power) on the scale that these things happen at, is to blame for the suffering of the lower classes which includes me.
      And specifically for the airbnb/landlord thing: I understand how business works. I have had my own small businesses. However, when I decide what I'm going to do for a business, a factor in that decision for me is "will this harm anyone" and if the answer is yes I will change directions. With rental homes the answer is yes, especially for airbnb, because it takes an affordable home that someone could have bought for themselves/their family and sticks a massive rent on it. That rent price often takes that potential living situation away from most of the people living in that area even on a lot of standard rentals but especially airbnb (because airbnbs are used for short term at super high rent prices). There have been economic studies on the impact of airbnb on local housing markets and it's not good.

      It's their house! Who are you to tell someone what they can do with their home? You must be a nosy HOA neighbor that calls the cops every time someone leaves their garbage can on the curve to long. MIND YOUR BUSINESS if you can't afford a house where you are look somewhere else! Stop complaining jezz you people are ridiculous

    I love how you think a house that's 100 years old is something special. We have garden sheds that age in England lol

      Don't be rude---100 year old houses are a rare find the further west you go across America. On the eastern sea coast where America was "founded," 100 year old homes are plentiful, not available but plentiful as are two hundred year old houses and some even older than that! But as you move west, they are harder and harder to find. I hope they just gently restore this home and sell it at a reasonable price to a young family. Reasonable meaning a reasonable profit for the couple restoring it.
      Greed is killing our country, don't be greedy, be smart and be kind.
