Hello MrG78, thank you for this video. this is great! I just have a couple of questions. Do you have battery issues as reported? on your usual day to day use of your SGC, how does it last on a full charge?
Well… the battery is sort of an issue not lasting what would be today’s standard of 8 hours +. I can get between 4 go 6 hours depending on what I am doing. If doing just web browsing with video watching it can get close to 5 hours or so. If just doing work stuff including email I can get close to 5.5 hours. If I am watching videos or doing some task that are heavy its around 4.5 hours or so. I personally don’t see this a problem for me, because I really don’t sit and use a computer for more then maybe a couple hours at one time. Let me know if you have any other questions.
a VM Windows most likely not work on the Samsung Chromebook 4. You might be able to install Linux on the Chromebook 4, but you might be pretty close to the limitation with the 4GB RAM.
@Robert Smith Thanks for the info, this will help others that are looking to repair or upgrade their Galaxy Chromebooks or any other that use this M.2 2230 SSD.
How about ram can we have upgraded is it possible in Galaxy Galaxy chromeboo I looking to buy How is real battery hold on continuous on and please update about he heat problems
The RAM is not upgradeable, it is solder on the board. Would have been nice but in order to keep the Galaxy Chromebook this thin, they had to solder the memory. Depending on what you are using the Galaxy Chromebook, if watching videos, you can get at least 5 hours at 40% brightness. Web browsing again depends on how demanding the website is, and how many tabs open you can get up 5 or 6 hours. About the heat, it does get pretty hot but I usually have it on a desk or table rarely is it on my lap. So the heat is not an issue for me. It only heats up if you have a lot going on.
I bought the same Samsung chrome book on open box. But it does not come with charger. It does not turn on. So I use MacBook charger and turn on, it works but does not charge. What is your opinion and what should I try to charge?
Power down and try and hold the refresh and power button for about 3 seconds. After it reboots hopefully it starts to charge. If you have another 40watt charger try that also.
The battery might not be taking charge. So if you have it plugged in, you are able to turn on the Chromebook, and it works for you? If you have a 65-watt charger, try using it and see if it will charge the battery. Also, can you check if you are able to turn it on with the Macbook charger and see if it is showing on the battery status below that it is charging? And what is the percentage of the battery?
A friend passed away , he left his chromebook locked with bitlocker can it be used by any means? He died three years ago. All of his property and bank and credit cards are all closed so it's safe Can it be salvaged in anyway?
You would need to recovery his account. If you know or have access to his email account you might be able to request that you forgot the password so you can change it to go get access ,
It won't make the Chromebook any faster with the SSD upgrade. This would give you the option to store more on your Chromebook. The 4GB of RAM will still be what will cause your Chromebook to maybe not be able to have several tabs open in Chrome Browser.
I have 32gb eMMC and if I change it to 1tb NVME (Samsung 980 pro) it should have some effect on performance i think. You already had an NVME (256) that you changed to a larger NVME - maybe that’s why you didn’t notice much performance difference. What are your thoughts mate.
Also you probably have a 8gb model that was already snappy so the larger drive’s effect is not that drastic? By the way, did you make a chrome bootable? Any link for instructions on how to do it? Thanks.
@@youtubeitisisntit7333 It will have a bit of speed increase for file access or anything that would be using the SSD. Though you still get limited to the RAM if you have too many programs running. @@MrHG78 any update on this? I got the same western digital 1tb nvme 2230 SSD after seeing this video. I got the same "missing or damaged" message. I did a bit of digging.
If you know or have access to his email account you might be able to request that you forgot the password so you can change it to go get access ,
Does it make chromebook significantly fast? I have only 4gb ram which is soldered. I am thinking of upgrading the ssd.
I didn't see much speed increase since yes, the Chromebook has higher specs already. I basically wanted to show that you can install a bigger SSD in a Chromebook.

Easy to remove existing SSD and replace with a new one of higher capacity. Only one screw that holds the SSD and no soldering or connectors to undo.

Is it possible to use the 2tb to upgrade? I’ve noticed the 1tb is sold out via that brand and model.
You should be able to use a 2TB SSD as an upgrade. This would give plenty of storage as well!
This is the samsung chtomebook 2 2021 model right
It’s actually the first one. The Galaxy ChromeBooks 2 was the one with the black keyboard and the first one had the keyboard the same color. Hope this helps!
hey bro how do u reinstall the operating system before and after u install the ssd
You can skip to the 20 minute mark to see on how to reinstall the OS on the new SSD. You will need a 8GB USB flash drive.

@@MrHG78 any update on this? I got the same western digital 1tb nvme 2230 SSD after seeing this video. I got the same "missing or damaged" message. I did a bit of digging. It might be due to the fact that Western Digital 1tb has a factory physical sector size set to 4096, instead of the more common 512.

Does its screen flicker comparing to IPS?
No flicker on the screen.
Or just buy a Samsung UFS sdcard into the expandable storage slot and call it a day.
Or, use google drive..... rather than overpaying for an external SSD that you have to destroy to use. But I appreciate the persistence.
Yes, currently the biggest UFS is a 256GB for about $60. Write and read speeds are pretty impressive with the UFS card though not as fast as a SSD, but a great way to upgrade without having to open the computer. Thanks for sharing!
Can you do this on Samsung Chromebook 4
Unfortunately the Chromebook 4 has the eMMC soldered to the motherboard so it can't be upgraded with a M.2 SSD.
@@MrHG78 danggg thanks
The video doesn't show what you're doing. The camera shows the wall, not the computer. : (
I tried to get as best as possible, hopefully you can see in some of the video that shows the SSD Drive location. There is only one screw to remove and the SSD comes out. You can replace with the new one.
Does this fix help with the error message missing os or damaged?
Yes, if you do the restore from the USB it will reload the Chrome OS.
Hi! Can you install Windows in this Chromebook?
You can but it is very slow because of the VM running Windows in it. This would make a great Windows laptop!
