    In this lesson, you will learn what inertia and how it applies to Newton's first law of motion. Newton's first law states that an object at rest will tend to stay at rest unless acted upon an outside force. Additionally, an object in motion will tend to stay in motion unless also acted upon by an outside force. These ideas form the core foundation of physics in that they are the basis upon which we describe the motion of an object. Other phenomena are also reliant on motion such as thermal energy and wave mechanics, and are dependent on the idea of inertia and newton's laws of motion.

    I started watching you to learn about a triangle, but now I find myself wanting to learn so much more about Physics. I can remember when I was young, my dad talking about some of these concepts. Your teaching style is second to none. Thank you very much.

      @@MathAndScience Consider what is E=MC2. c squared CLEARLY (AND NECESSARILY) represents a dimension of SPACE ON BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY (AND NECESSARILY) proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE); AS TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual ON/IN BALANCE. Accordingly, ON BALANCE, the rotation of WHAT IS THE MOON matches the revolution. Consider what is THE EARTH/ground. Consider what is E=MC2. Now, consider what is THE EYE; AND consider what is the TRANSLUCENT AND BLUE sky ON BALANCE. SO, consider what is the BALANCED MIDDLE DISTANCE in/of/as SPACE; AS c squared CLEARLY represents a dimension of SPACE ON BALANCE; AS WHAT IS E=MC2 CLEARLY proves (ON BALANCE) that ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY AND NECESSARILY proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE). Indeed, notice what is the fully illuminated (AND setting/WHITE) MOON ON BALANCE. Now, consider what is the orange (AND setting) Sun ON BALANCE !! They are the SAME SIZE as what is THE EYE. The rotation of WHAT IS THE MOON matches the revolution, AS TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual ON/IN BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY AND NECESSARILY proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE) !!! CONSIDER WHAT IS E=MC2 ON BALANCE. Gravity is an interaction that cannot be shielded (or blocked) ON BALANCE !!! Consider TIME AND time dilation ON BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY AND NECESSARILY proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE) !!! The stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky ON BALANCE !!! c squared CLEARLY represents a dimension of SPACE ON BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY AND NECESSARILY proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE) !!! Indeed, TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual ON/IN BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY AND NECESSARILY proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE) !!! Think. What is E=MC2 is dimensionally consistent. What is THE EARTH/ground is fully consistent with/as (AND IT IS BALANCED WITH/AS) what is E=MC2 (ON/IN BALANCE). BALANCE AND completeness go hand in hand. ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY AND NECESSARILY proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE), AS TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual ON/IN BALANCE. c squared CLEARLY represents a dimension of SPACE ON BALANCE. Again, ON BALANCE, consider what is the BALANCED MIDDLE DISTANCE in/of/as SPACE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY (AND NECESSARILY) proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE) !!! CLEARLY, I have mathematically proven and explained what is the fourth dimension. Magnificent.

    What a beautiful, super-lucid lecture making us see how counter-intuitive, i.e. how contrary to the expectations of the conventional mind Physics is! Thank you for helping us understand how Physics can expand our minds and overall view of the world, that it can be a thrilling journey and an excellent means for spiritual nourishment. Greetings and gratitude from Athens, Greece.

    Thanks. Very clear. My question is what is that 'on its own'?
    What happens in the object that makes it/ allows it to keep on moving? Did Newton give any explanation ?

    Dear Math and Science. Thank you very much. Very interesting. When i was watching this video, one question appeared in my mind. Could you please comment this question. Imagine we have a very long tube around the globe. In this tube there is no air (vacuum). We place inside the tube an object. This object doesn't touch walls of the tube due the influence of the magnetic field. So there is no friction in this system. Then we push the object along the tube. Will this object move forever or it will finally stop due to gravity of the Earth?

    1:35 Except that it isn't Newton's law, it is Galileo's.
    This is Newton's 1st law:
    "Every body perseveres in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a right line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed thereon."
    - The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy (1846) by Isaac Newton, translated by Andrew Motte
    Axioms, or Laws of Motion
    Origins of the 1st law:
    "The law of inertia was first formulated by Galileo Galilei for horizontal motion on Earth and was later generalized by René Descartes. Before Galileo it had been thought that all horizontal motion required a direct cause, but Galileo deduced from his experiments that a body in motion would remain in motion unless a force (such as friction) caused it to come to rest. The law of inertia was deduced by Galileo from his experiments with balls rolling down inclined planes."
    - Britannica, T. Editors of Encyclopaedia (2022, October 21). law of inertia. Encyclopedia Britannica.

    • @PasajeroDelToro
      @PasajeroDelToro ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, Descartes did state before Newton, that a body's natural motion was in a straight line at constant speed.

    first of all it was an outstanding video... appreciated...but my not so intelligent brain is stuck on a point...my question is " In the deep space if I through a baseball with a force of let's say 10N, isnt it keep on accelerating forever bcoz there wont be any opposite force that can slow it down and return it in a state of equilibrium so it keep on moving with a constant velocity forever ?

    • @MathAndScience
      @MathAndScience  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      If you throw with a force of 10 N and then let go when your hand is no longer in contact with the ball and you were no longer pushing anymore than the ball will cost at a constant velocity. It will not speed up and it will not slow down and it will cost forever. However, if you strap a rocket engine to the back of the ball and you ignite it with the force of 10 N and as the ball travels, the rocket continues to push with 10 N continually all the time, then yes the ball will continue accelerating forever now, realistically you can’t get past the speed of light but you get the idea.

    • @simpleman283
      @simpleman283 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They don't exercise their brain. They are stuck in a rut, because they will not use their mind to accelerate up & out of that rut. They feel lost & hopeless. As hard as you try to help them, it will not work for those that are not already determined to help themself. I'm a Florida man myself & I keep it simple "I never give up".
