    Any thoughts on finding managers/agents on the East coast? Live in “DC”, so when would I love representation to Atlanta or NYC? Or does it matter if I start there? Thanks for the advice and great information in the videos!

    • @AngiePattersonYT
      @AngiePattersonYT  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Anthony! So sorry but I don't know about finding rep on the east coast... I'd assume the process is similar. I know there are way less agents and managers there than here though, which is kind of a good thing. Try starting with Atlanta!

      I would assume quite a few have actors that live in ATL. Those actors most likely have rep in the southeast as well, but IF they're truly bicoastal then they'd have LA rep.

    Hey Angie, love the videos! I’m from Iowa and looking to get a start on my career. What’s your opinion on going to IMTA and getting signed with an agency through that? Or should I start reaching out to managers in California from Iowa?

    • @AngiePattersonYT
      @AngiePattersonYT  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not that familiar with IMTA, but in general, convention type businesses like that aren't beneficial, and they cost a LOT. Any time you are asked to pay someone up front is a red flag. I would instead choose a city close to you (like Chicago) where there's a lot of production and start with submitting to agents there. :)

    • @AngiePattersonYT
      @AngiePattersonYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear you, but look - everyone you'd be talking to would probably have had to do the same thing at some point, to get their reps! It's on you to make it personal, not so "transactional" - meaning speak to them genuinely and it'll all be good. :)

This seems odd, but they are a legitimate company and listed on IMDB and Backstage. They also want exclusive representation. Does this hurt beginning actors? Thanks!

      Hi, in some areas, you might only be able to find agents, especially if its not a city that's big for the entertainment industry. Go ahead and submit to the agents! And if you get a meeting with one, see if they have relationships with any managers they can refer you to. Just always look them up on IMDb to make sure they have legit clients, and charge you no money up front.

    Hi Angie, somewhere I believe you stated that you can reach out to backstage for agency or management. I was able to email backstage, and they have something like you can pay a fee or cost to send out your resume to show your profile to I guess other agents or managers. it sounds like Explore Talent, I once signed up and had to pay a fee or cost. I received from them a text message that stated Pepis, target, and others for commercials, My profile fit there description. My question to you is backstage the same, but is legit? thank you.

      In the very beginning of your career, you only need one, most likely a manager. Some managers prefer to work with an agent on the team, and some don't care.

    hi Agie, where is the list of managers and agents you recommend? also, did you say in the video you can go to itt.com and backstage.com? thank you for the informative information, God bless have a great day!

      Hey William, there isn't a list of managers (because there are SO many and they're not as regulated as agents). The list of agents is in the Description Box - you need to click on "Show More." The site I mentioned is IMDb.com

    Hi first, thank u , u have given me so much information that helps sooo much . What about someone that does unlimited headshots for 2 months (for $300) so I can retake and take as much as I want to start a portfolio and he will help prepare me and help me fill out a resume and send me to agents , do u think it’s legit , and how would I know if an agency is legit , let’s say they don’t ask for money , would their be other red flags or?

    • @ktoth29
      @ktoth29 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sounds shady to me. You don't need unlimited headshots you only need one, if your photographer can't help you get a good headshot within a two hour session than they probably aren't going to be able to get one in two months.

    • @AngiePattersonYT
      @AngiePattersonYT  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The photographer does sound fishy to me; I've never heard of an offer like that. Make sure to check him out online. As for the agency, look them up on IMDb.com and make sure they have a client list with working actors.
