Transfagarasan road and Balea Lake area 4K video 2022

- On 18th of June 2022 we took over Transfagarasan, considered one of the most beautiful Romanian mountain roads that reach over 2000m altitude. We stopped at Balea Lake, to look for the pink mountain flowers called Rhododendron. The video was made using GoPro on the dome of the car and the images you are watching are 4K.

Daca aveti intrebari cu privire la traseu sau vreti sa ne lasati recenzii puteti sa o faceti in rubrica de comentarii. Deasemenea puteti sa va abonati si sa activati notificarile pentru a afla cat mai repede prin ce locuri minunate ne duc pasii. Speram sa fie de folos si sa va facem pofta de hoinareala.
Anul trecut am fost pe Transfagarasean si anul asta cand am venit in tara am fost pe Transalpina...dar nu se compara cu Transfagraseanul, e un drum de care nu te saturi niciodata sa il vizitezi!
Ce locuri frumoase avem! daca n-am avut ocazia sa merg sa le vad, macar acum am posibilitatea sa gust putin din aceste locuri minunate. Va multumesc!
I recently rode Transfagarasan and Trasalpina on a motorcycle. I really liked both, each has its own beauty.

La ce hotel ați fost cazați în apropiere?
Pentru câteva ore pe Transfagarasan nu e nevoie de o cazare în apropiere. Puteţi face o excursie de o zi şi de la Braşov şi de la Sibiu, etc. Dacă vreţi să faceţi drumeţii de la Bâlea Lac vă puteţi caza chiar la Cabana Bâlea Lac sau Paltinu. De la Cârţişoara şi până la Bâlea Lac sunt o multitudine de opţiuni pentru cazare.
I was just there (Goggle Earth) last week. Have friends in Romania and know how important terrain was in the history of Romania. Never realized how close to Brasov (friends there) the highway is. Bran Castle is even closer. I thought the road was closer to Cluj (friends there). It's pretty far from Bucharest (friends there), but certainly within driving distance.
The road has an interesting history. Built for defense to keep those pesky Russians out, it has a very high price tag in both material and human lives adding to a dark history. It's recognized around the world as 'must drive' on bucket list.
The valley road winds through, and many other similar valley's, also have a dark history. Romanians defending against Turkish invaders used the steep sided valley's as a trap. Turks entered and followed easiest path (bottom of valley). Romanians perched high above hidden behind trees, they rained death down on the enemy below; arrows, boulders, and spears. During Vlad's (the impaler) reign, he and his armies slaughtered tens of thousands of Turkish invaders. Many of those taken alive were speared and left high up on poles along roadways to 'discourage' other invaders.
There is a cool tunnel at the top. Terrain is too steep there to continue building a road. Nice rest area, lake, and shops, great place to rest before continuing your journey.

Transfagarasan is close to Sibiu, not Brasov or Cluj
