Unfortuntely, if your panels get damaged in a hail storm then the manufacturer most likely will not cover the damage and your installer is not liable. You basically have to make a claim through insurance and face higher future premiums.
I prefer to lay spread-eagle, face up, on top of my solar array while screaming "Is that all you got!!!???" In all seriousness, solar installer here, most small hail won't break a panel. If the hail is big enough to break a panel, it's big enough to kill you and your roof is for sure ruined. We've done a lot of de-installs where the roof was trashed and the panels didn't need to be replaced. They're suprisingly strong.
That was my thought, I will be trying 1/2 inch heavy gauge galvanized with a 2 inch riser gap this week, curious as to how it dips the output of my 195w panels.
1. No information on how to protect your panels against hail was provided. This renders the video title misleading. 2. The guy's Aussie accent was so thick I had trouble understanding him at times.
I didn't catch the part where he protect3d it from hail
Okay, How do we protect them?
Hello?
Your title is misleading. You didn’t answer how to protect it from bigger hail larger than 25 mm.

Wow. Thats crazy. How much does it cost to take down the panels, then put them back?
@@Gasoline4ever around $250ish a panel
@@djabroni_brochacho4644 i see. does that include the mounting rails?
@@Gasoline4ever we re-use the mounting rails, although sometimes we use new flashings.
We get BIG hail here in the US Midwest. It ruins cars, breaks windows, dents siding and damaged roofs.
Informative & easy to follow advice, thanks Sam.
Cheers!
Anyone tried heavy gauge framed steel mesh on a standoff above each panel? Would be expensive and heavy but might work.

Pray over it.

Sound advice
Thanks, glad you found it useful
Well that was a pointless video
