      Imagine Snead having a putter like Lucas Glover, he likely would have set records that no one could have.

    He probably didn't originate the squating action in his swing but definitely used it. So much so that I incorporate it in my swing. There's not enough videos of the SLAMMER.

      Sam Snead knew more than he told. I recalled a quote of his just today that occured as I was practicing. "It's all in the rythum, Waltz time". Well that's a 1 2 3 tempo. A three count swing rythum. An amazing difference THAT makes.

    That swing is so powerful and uninhibited. Into the slot and freewheel. No midcourse correction there. That's the swing I would want .

    One of the smoothest swings like Couples, but Tom Watson is the smoothest swing I have ever seen.

    Surely got to be considered top 5 of all time easily, maybe even the very best in certain areas. There is an unusual stat about him that if he scored something like -2 in every final round of the US open he ever played (leaving the other 3 as they were) he'd have won about 6 US opens. His failure to win 1 is one of the biggest inexplicable truths in the history of the game.

    • @mudddge
      @mudddge 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's pretty simple, it was his putting that cost him winning a US Open.

    • @wx811
      @wx811 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      And yet he was in contention all 3 other days. It's no one thing. It's a fluke he didn't win an Open, but you really can't put it down to any one aspect.
      And if you know Snead, he won 82 official victories on tour, so I think his putting was just fine.

    • @mudddge
      @mudddge 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wx811 Lol. It was his putting that cost him at least one US Open, full stop.
      And if YOU knew Snead, which you clearly don't, you'd know putting cost him many more wins. "From late 1946 on, I came down with the longest and most terrible case of yips ever seen in the PGA." They lasted until 1949.

    I like it how Tiger says, "one of the"... indirectly indicating that he is the best himself - knowing that Sam won more tournaments than him (so far to be fair to Tiger)... I respect that - just an observation... personally, I think Sam's swing allowed him to compete for longer, so over the long haul, he will be STILL the best to date in terms of a human winning golf tournaments, period

    • @tomharrington7985
      @tomharrington7985 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ehh i hate Tiger honestly, hes the best short game player ever and had a ton of athletic power but he never had Sams ball striking ability.

    • @wx811
      @wx811 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tomharrington7985 There are many ways to win golf matches. W. Hagen won his matches by short game prowess, and management. So did Tiger. Nicklaus won by playing his opponents, and the course, through mental game. Some players are power hitters, like Snead or Palmer, others short, like Player or Trevino. Even others are all around players, excelling in no particular field.
      It's a numbers game in the end, and regardless of how you got there, it's how many you took, not what it looked like.

    • @tomharrington7985
      @tomharrington7985 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      your not wrong but i think Ben Hogan would seriously disagree with you lol. Im a fan of the power full swing type but not necassirly like todays players that never hit fairways but still make up for it with 200 yard wedges.
